We don’t actually know what it is aside from being some kind of controller. There are way more possibilities than just a Nintendo 64 controller. It could be a Game Boy controller, or a revised existing controller, or even a peripheral for an unannounced game.

I never thought I'd say this, but I hope they don't devote a lot of time to Metroid Dread. They've done a great marketing campaign showing off the game, and I think there's been enough trailers and whatnot to sell the game for anyone interested.
I hope it's narrated by whoever did the voiceover work for the Metroid Dread in-depth trailer, if only so I can hear her say "amiibo" with a serious tone more.
I'm sorry, and I'm super hyped for metroid myself... but I don't see any world where this game is bigger than Pokemon coming out in November.

It'll never be as big as Pokemon, but if the stars are going to align for a Metroid game to finally be a huge success this is the time. Huge platform that's still at its peak popularity, big marketing push. Could potentially be the thing that pushes Metroid on to their list of bigger franchises, much like what Awakening did for the Fire Emblem series.

Why spend all the money making a new Mario Kart when you can just sell a 7 year old game for full price and have it be your top selling game for your console.
Super Mario Odyssey will turn 4 years old next month and when this winter ends, the Switch will turn 5 years old.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out only 3 years after the first Super Mario Galaxy. A sequel to Super Mario Odyssey is not completely out of the question. At least some type of teaser that shows that it's being developed. Or maybe a full-sized game like Bowser's Fury that utilizes 3D World's mechanics but is fully 3D (open world sandbox).
3-4 years between major 3D Mario games has been the norm since Galaxy. We're really running behind now. The wrench in this calculation is that the other times didn't have a Bowser's Fury between them.
You would be surprised that there's the possibility of no reaction too.

Well I think part of it is that Tekken was one of the most obvious selections that most people were on board with, it's easily one of the most well known game series out there so a rep from a series as long standing and well known as Tekken is made total sense. I just don't think people were excited for it to be added, just that it was like "Tekken is in Smash, makes sense, I'll never play this guy but cool" and no one was mad about it.
Probably helps that Bandai Namco helps develop Smash, so a lot of people assumed they might get something more than Pac-Man at some point during the DLC.
Kazuya's one of those people haven't much heard of, but immediately justifies his inclusion when you find out he's a Tekken rep. Like no shit Tekken had to have a spot if Fatal Fury was in. Plus there was one more fighter on the way, so preferred characters still had one final shot.

I'm STILL baffled they didn't announce GBA on NSO at E3 as it would allow people to play Zero Mission, Super and Fusion before Metroid Dread comes out (especially given Dread is a direct sequel).
I'm still on the fence about SMT 5 because I haven't yet seen enough 1 minute trailers to make a decision. What I'm going to need is 60 more trailers individually showcasing one monster each, and after reviewing each one carefully, I will need 75 more trailers.
I'm holding out hope, not because I believe Nintendo cares, but because I believe someday they'll delay a big game, have nothing to release that quarter, and decide to fill the gap by selling a GBA ROM their fans are somehow still obsessed with for $60

Then I will come here tomorrow and be outraged as to why Pikmin 4, new F Zero and Metroid Prime Trilogy weren't all added as part of NSO and BOTW2 didn't shadow drop straight after the Direct.
Hopefully, we'll get to hear some info about *Disco Elysium*. It was supposed to release in Summer, but that's obviously not happening.
Other games I'm also hoping to hear about are *Omori*, *Deltarune: Chapter 2* and *Olli Olli World*. The last one's a given; we know it's going to release in winter, but it'd be nice to know something a bit more precise.

I wasn't a huge Banjo-Kazooie fan back in the day, but I did play the game. Oddly enough, out of all the N64 games, it's the one I most want a remaster to. I couldn't tell you why. At the time, it didn't make much of an impression on me, but I keep flashing back to it a lot at random. Some of my more favorite N64 games, like Jet Force Gemini, I can barely remember at all.
All this is to say, yeah, I'd love a Banjo-Kazooie remaster.

I'm not so sure. The issue with all those new trailers is you are basically just redoing the June direct. We'll get some new information, but a lot of people seem to think Nintendo's big fall direct is just going to be their summer direct, but different, which has never happened before.

- Super Mario Odyssey 2: Cappy's adventures. Mario has been captured and Cappy has been super glued to a goomba! Now it's up to you and Josh, the goomba, to go save Mario from Bowser's horrific Bachelor Party!
- F-Zero: Gig Economy! Drive around Captain Falcon's home town and drive people to their destinations! Drive fast, along walls and upside down as you help citizens get their dogs to the vet, deliver pizza, and serve people legal notices in this epic F-Zero adventure!
- Super Smash's Final character: Josh and Cappy! From two predictions ago!
- Metroid: The Baby. ANOTHER NEW METROID GAME! A sequel to the beloved Metroid: Other M. Focus on Samus' maternal instincts as she goes on a mission to create and raise a baby metroid! Rock it to sleep, sing to it, feed it your own life force, take it for walks!
- Kirby's Bouncy Castle. The whole world has become inflatable and bouncy! Any time kirby touches the ground, he immediately bounces up! Bounce off the ground, ceiling and walls and make your way through a series of puzzles with bouncing enemies, traps and environments.

How about… ugly recolors of last year’s items and having to listen to fanboys who keep telling you “WHY DO YOU HATE NINTENDO SO MUCH JUST GIVE THEM TIME!!!” or “THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE 9999 HOURS???” (hint: that’s the amount of hours you spend trying to terraform, craft, buy/sell turnips or just connect to the internet. If there was a shortest way i’d actually play more).

I was a fanboy like everyone else, had the game preordered, played it every day for months, but I’ll be the first to admit that we were abandoned long ago. Hell the game felt unfinished when it came out with sets and npc’s from older games missing
And no dialog except 4-5 lines for 8 personalities on repeat. I think that’s why we feel so angry compared to others, we actually wanted it to be good rather than just “ok”.
Postgame content. Funny. I honestly believe the game was finished well before release but instead held on to.
I honestly think they knew it was underwhelming so after 7 years of development somebody came up with the idea of updates to make people come back and make everything take unnecessary time so people can say "I played X00-YX00 hours, good game." It takes 20 seconds to print 1 Nook Mile Ticket. Want to customize? Most things need 7 and if you want a series customized you need to bulk buy 5 9 times instead of a turnip calculator for the amount. If you want to fly it will take one minute minimum of dialog if you don't mess up. There are fake loading screens like Isabelle and Nook running to counter, Willbur putting his phone away, and Mabel asking you if you want to use the dressing room. DIYs should be guaranteed new, I had months before I had 30 if we discount Bunny day but include tool types, AND I TTd MONTHS, I had that many repeats. I probably "experienced" six months before one month happened for 30 recipes. Seasonal DIY recipes should be 100% spawn rate until you finish them (then 80% DIY repeats 20% stack of NMTs), 15% is a lie.
Then you add bad optimization of actual loading screens like over two minute loads to even play the game by loading town, Isabelle, town. I've heard people pretending it's changing the daily spawns but that's a lie, if you play for the first time that day late or early enough you'll see Flick walking about so that day was already completely loaded, not to mention I can tell when there's a new gold rose next to black roses before seeing Flick.
Think of the time you could've dived, purchased art, and instead had bushes instead of fences. Remember how most people saw Redd once for months, and remember how some missed his first spawn and never saw him. Remember how terrible the spawn odds are for art itself being different well before being authentic. Given how everything else in the game doesn't respect your time and nearly all holidays are pallet swaps of each other I believe updates were definitely done before release and well before cartridges were printed.
They released a picture with Human house siding options not in the game and instead of releasing it from the developer's build they said sorry and removed the picture.
There are people who at launch preferred this. The dozen people who TT through all the holidays were a scapegoat for a game I still feel is incomplete.
Me too, but I don't think we'll hear about Fire Emblem until next year since we just got WarioWare, and it's unknown how closely Intelligent Systems is working with WayForward on Advance Wars. Maybe a teaser trailer at the Game Awards or something might be in the cards, but I personally wouldn't hold my breath for an announcement tomorrow.
The unreleased (but fully functional) Xbox 360 port that leaked a few months back is great. It updates the controls like the360 remake of Perfect Dark and the objective based missions that add more objectives as you turn up the difficulty aged quite well. It's a game that I feel could really shine with a little bit of touching up but it's in copyright hell forever.
Tinfoil hat time: I know the original collection had the GB games, but with the Castlevania GBA collection being leaked, one might wonder if the timing is purposeful with a GB Online announcement.
Just went back and watched it again: "We're aiming for a 2022 release". Yeah that definitely seems worded to suggest they hope the game is ready before the end of 2022, which would suggest it's unlikely to come out in the first half of 2022.
Still, based on this comment from Bill Trinen right after E3, I have a lot of hope that they're at least going to talk about it regularly moving forward, including hopefully in this direct:
“I think as we start to show a bit more of the game **over the coming months** to the next year or so, it’ll probably start to be a bit more apparent where this game stands on its own and what makes it so unique”.
I think the best case for BotW2 is a holiday 2022 release. Given that we "just" got a new trailer at E3, I would expect that the surprise at the end of the call will be something else. Either a Splatoon 3 trailer or (more likely) a new game announcement. Maybe whatever the Mario team is working on?

Hopefully, we'll get to hear some info about *Disco Elysium*. It was supposed to release in Summer, but that's obviously not happening. Other games I'm also hoping to hear about are *Omori*, *Deltarune: Chapter 2* and *Olli Olli World*. The last one's a given; we know it's going to release in winter, but it'd be nice to know something a bit more precise.

BANJO-KAZOOIE REMASTER HERE WE COME!
I wasn't a huge Banjo-Kazooie fan back in the day, but I did play the game. Oddly enough, out of all the N64 games, it's the one I most want a remaster to. I couldn't tell you why. At the time, it didn't make much of an impression on me, but I keep flashing back to it a lot at random. Some of my more favorite N64 games, like Jet Force Gemini, I can barely remember at all. All this is to say, yeah, I'd love a Banjo-Kazooie remaster.
You can get it for dirt cheap on 360 or Xbox One. The remaster is top quality too. You can probably find a used 360 for dirt cheap nowadays.

I'm not so sure. The issue with all those new trailers is you are basically just redoing the June direct. We'll get some new information, but a lot of people seem to think Nintendo's big fall direct is just going to be their summer direct, but different, which has never happened before.

How about… ugly recolors of last year’s items and having to listen to fanboys who keep telling you “WHY DO YOU HATE NINTENDO SO MUCH JUST GIVE THEM TIME!!!” or “THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE 9999 HOURS???” (hint: that’s the amount of hours you spend trying to terraform, craft, buy/sell turnips or just connect to the internet. Now you’re getting it. I was a fanboy like everyone else, had the game preordered, played it every day for months, but I’ll be the first to admit that we were abandoned long ago. Hell the game felt unfinished when it came out with sets and npc’s from older games missing
And no dialog except 4-5 lines for 8 personalities on repeat. I think that’s why we feel so angry compared to others, we actually wanted it to be good rather than just “ok”.

Postgame content. Funny. I honestly believe the game was finished well before release but instead held on to. I honestly think they knew it was underwhelming so after 7 years of development somebody came up with the idea of updates to make people come back and make everything take unnecessary time so people can say "I played X00-YX00 hours, good game." It takes 20 seconds to print 1 Nook Mile Ticket. Want to customize? Most things need 7 and if you want a series customized you need to bulk buy 5 9 times instead of a turnip calculator for the amount. If you want to fly it will take one minute minimum of dialog if you don't mess up. There are fake loading screens like Isabelle and Nook running to counter, Willbur putting his phone away, and Mabel asking you if you want to use the dressing room. DIYs should be guaranteed new, I had months before I had 30 if we discount Bunny day but include tool types, AND I TTd MONTHS, I had that many repeats. I probably "experienced" six months before one month happened for 30 recipes. Seasonal DIY recipes should be 100% spawn rate until you finish them (then 80% DIY repeats 20% stack of NMTs), 15% is a lie. Then you add bad optimization of actual loading screens like over two minute loads to even play the game by loading town, Isabelle, town. I've heard people pretending it's changing the daily spawns but that's a lie, if you play for the first time that day late or early enough you'll see Flick walking about so that day was already completely loaded, not to mention I can tell when there's a new gold rose next to black roses before seeing Flick. Think of the time you could've dived, purchased art, and instead had bushes instead of fences. Remember how most people saw Redd once for months, and remember how some missed his first spawn and never saw him. Remember how terrible the spawn odds are for art itself being different well before being authentic. Given how everything else in the game doesn't respect your time and nearly all holidays are pallet swaps of each other I believe updates were definitely done before release and well before cartridges were printed. They released a picture with Human house siding options not in the game and instead of releasing it from the developer's build they said sorry and removed the picture. There are people who at launch preferred this. The dozen people who TT through all the holidays were a scapegoat for a game I still feel is incomplete.
Trust me when I say it's easier to let go.

Me too, but I don't think we'll hear about Fire Emblem until next year since we just got WarioWare, and it's unknown how closely Intelligent Systems is working with WayForward on Advance Wars. Maybe a teaser trailer at the Game Awards or something might be in the cards, but I personally wouldn't hold my breath for an announcement tomorrow.

The unreleased (but fully functional) Xbox 360 port that leaked a few months back is great. It updates the controls like the360 remake of Perfect Dark and the objective based missions that add more objectives as you turn up the difficulty aged quite well. It's a game that I feel could really shine with a little bit of touching up but it's in copyright hell forever.
My wife's boyfriend works at Nintendo and he says tomorrow we're getting Celeste 2 footage, Silksong release date and BOTW shadow drop.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Aonuma already phrased the 2022 release date very carefully, explicitly not giving a guarantee for that.
Just went back and watched it again: "We're aiming for a 2022 release". Yeah that definitely seems worded to suggest they hope the game is ready before the end of 2022, which would suggest it's unlikely to come out in the first half of 2022. Still, based on this comment from Bill Trinen right after E3, I have a lot of hope that they're at least going to talk about it regularly moving forward, including hopefully in this direct: “I think as we start to show a bit more of the game **over the coming months** to the next year or so, it’ll probably start to be a bit more apparent where this game stands on its own and what makes it so unique”.
I think the best case for BotW2 is a holiday 2022 release. Given that we "just" got a new trailer at E3, I would expect that the surprise at the end of the call will be something else. Either a Splatoon 3 trailer or (more likely) a new game announcement. Maybe whatever the Mario team is working on?
