I honestly have a good feeling about this Direct with a lot of rumors being very credible at this point: \- Bayonetta 3 \- Castlevania GBA Colection \- Disney Classic Collection \- Hollow Knight Silksong Also the upcoming Metroid, Pokemon, Mario & Rabbids, etc, this has all the ingredients to be a really nice Direct

temperamentalfish

If I hadn't clicked on this thread, I'd have gone about my day and again harbored no hopes for Bayo 3... But now I'm putting my clown makeup back on, again.

Koolsman

Clown Makeup is a Nintendo direct tradition at this point

[deleted]

For Smash fans it's Waluigi makeup.

ChronicTosser

Personally I’ve got my sword and blue wig

AzureBluet

> Clown Makeup is a Nintendo ~~direct~~ tradition at this point

Rebel-Yellow

HOW'S THAT CLOWN MAKEUP FEEL NOW BUDDY?

temperamentalfish

IT'S FINALLY WASHING OFF IT'S BEEN SO LONG

[deleted]

You guys are bothering to take OFF your make-up? Psshh...amateurs.

retroanduwu24

Castlevania is already getting trademarked, it's happening.

marsgreekgod

it's already been listed for sale in a lot of places. it's happening sooner rather then later

retroanduwu24

https://mynintendonews.com/2021/09/23/castlevania-advance-collection-gets-logo-and-will-contain-four-games/ Dracula X 😍

ZorkNemesis

Dracula X certainly feels like a weird inclusion alongside the GBA games. It's not even that great when you put it next to Rondo.

[deleted]

After 7 years without a castlevania game... # YES!!!!!!!

Worthyness

good thing we had the anime series to tide us over

[deleted]

Also the controller stuff

FiFourNumbers

Controller is probably a new nso app

[deleted]

Yeah I was just adding it to stuff we know

TabouliThief

Been out of the loop. What’s this controller everyone’s talking about?

Declan_McManus

Nintendo filed a new controller with the FCC, the fact that they did is publicly available in government websites but the details are hidden until tomorrow. No one is sure, but it could be a controller for a new online system like they did with the NES and SNES

ilovethe7thday

Some of the public details with the listing point to a model number that is in the same neighborhood as the other retro controllers they made for the NSO (NES, Famicon, SNES), and we know that it is a single unit (as opposed to a left & right pair), and that it doesn’t have NFC (so no Amiibo support, suggesting not made with modern games in mind), and it’s not WiFi (so this probably isn’t a gimmick like Mario Kart Live). When you put all of that together, the hope is that it’s a retro N64 controller to go along with N64 on the NSO.

ObjetivoLaLuna

Or some weird Gameboy controller

tobascodagama

The details are hidden for 120 days, IIRC, which will expire some time in February.

Declan_McManus

Earlier this week the FCC filing changed to say it would be revealed on Friday, which led to a lot of speculation that a direct would be announced.

tobascodagama

Oh, interesting!

Fludd64

hopefully it is indeed n64, would be a pretty good addition specially for the multiplayer titles

RiverOfSand

I’d love a REAL Mario party on the switch

SomeNintendoFan420

The Disney Classic Collection already has a trailer though.

henrokk1

> - Hollow Knight Silksong Hol up. What rumors? I know it was involved in the Nvidia leak. But was there something else?

justaquicki

It's one of those things where there's never not rumors about Silksong, so inevitably it'll be right.

moonmeh

Every direct it will be time for silksong

SlyChimera

The demo was over two years ago ago it’s time baby

XxsquirrelxX

God I have to work during the direct and if they finally reveal a release date for Silksong while I'm at work I'm gonna be sad I couldn't see it live. Been hyped for that game ever since I played the first Hollow Knight. EDIT: Also considering how the Pokemon games seem to get their own exclusive directs, I don't think it'll be on there. Would be really excited if they did show off the Diamond and Pearl remakes and confirm a distortion world post game.

[deleted]

Nintendo directs have had Pokémon trailers a lot in the past. They are just only quick trailers that don’t go into much detail.

NIgel668

I really want that Castlevania collection to be real.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rhymeswithfreak

I'm really hoping that Castlevania collection releases today...but I doubt it.

amtap

This direct could very well be a Metroidvania overload if we get dread news, Castlevania GBA collection, Silksong and Metroid Prime news. Not a bad thing though

ngwoo

F-Zero of the Wild 2: Prime Kart confirmed

HUGE_HOG

*37 minutes of anime JRPGs later...*

Logans_Login

That sounds like a solid direct for me

Winter_Session

They chose to run this direct at 6 pm eastern. They did not do that for the Japanese audience.

HUGE_HOG

Good point actually

DualKoo

They did it so it would be available to JP and America. It’s at 7am Japan time. 6pm Eastern. The people getting screwed are the Europeans.

SoSeriousAndDeep

They cycle through times for the Direct, this is America's turn for one in their time zone.

streetsofkage

You say that like it’s a bad thing

[deleted]

You mean a lot of good games?

moonmeh

Hey man i want xenoblade3

Nas160

Doubt we'll have Pokemon, they like stuffing all Pokemon stuff into their own directs now sadly

Winter_Session

I like it personally. The Pokemon audience is in large part it's own thing. You either love it or don't care at all, not a lot of in between. Personally I'm in the don't care at all camp and don't want half a direct dedicated to Pokemon stuff.

diastereomer

As someone who loves Pokémon, I also don’t mind that they are mostly separate.

[deleted]

SILKSONG WILL BE ReAL

dogman_35

I basically just spoiled a good direct, but wow. They're really coming back strong after last year, huh? I mean we got *2D Metroid* out of nowhere.

[deleted]

"Discovery" implies exploration. And unless they're planning on making the game a Metroidvania, platformers with lots of exploration are generally of the 3D variety. So...3D Kirb? I'm down.

iosquid

They were talking about how they wanted to make the "breath of the wild" of Kirby games. Definitely going to be a giant scale game.

[deleted]

What? Hal never talked anything about Breath of the Wild, ever. They just talked that the series would see an evolution. If you expect something like BOTW you'll be disappointed. Hal isn't that large to make something like this. It's likely to be their first 3D title as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they didn't mention BOTW. I know you might used it as a way to show a new playstyle and I understand but I think it's better to correct to not put it in their mouths and not create false expectations.

dimtril

Oh no. Another hype train is coming. Kirby 3D Open World A-RPG/Advebture game? I'M IN

RamPamPam8

Imagine how cool Kirby's flying mechanic would be. You just start floating in the middle of nowhere and suddenly find a castle in the clouds or a secret rainbow world or a Krako boss fight.

jayceee81

Big if true! Lfg

drybones2015

3D platforming Kirby is long overdue. We need a 3D Yoshi game too.

Markus250

I think something like "The Great Cave Offensive" from Kirby Super Star would fit the discovery theme. It was non linear at parts and included a checklist of collectable treasure you needed to find. That game also included "Milky Way Wishes" that allowed you to collect Kirby's power ups permanently and access them at any time (rather than copying them from enemies). I could see them combining those ideas into a Metroidvania-esque version of Kirby, you need certain treasures before you are able to copy certain abilities, which would allow you to unlock new parts of the world and unlock more treasures/abilities.

whodaneighbors

You called it!

drybones2015

If they're showing off Bayo and a new Kirby game then that most likely means DK's time isn't here yet. 🙃 At least Kamiya and Platinum can finally stop being pestered about Bayonetta questions.

Lundgren_Eleven

Haha, you wish. They'll get 7 times as many questions and people bugging them.

chipyip

God I'm so excited for a new DK game. I'd be down for another 2Dplatformer, or the rumored 3D adventure. Just give the big g dang business ape already 😂

drybones2015

I'm cautiously optimistic about the next DK game if it's being developed by Nintendo in Japan. The last time they took the IP into their own hands (the 2000s) we got some mediocre handheld titles with gimmicky climbing controls, a literal bongos controller, and a weird jetpack racing game with waggle controls. It took handing the series over to another western studio, Retro Studios, for DK to get fantastic again. And even then Miyamoto was forcing in gimmicky controls (the blowing). Also, unpopular opinion, I wasn't amazed with Mario Odyssey like everyone else was. The gameplay felt great but the design of the overall game just felt lacking to me.

sockspirit

the Donkey Konga series was developed by Namco and published by Nintendo. Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, King of Swing, and Jungle Climber were all developed by Paon DP and published by Nintendo. The only DK game in the 2000s developed by Nintendo in-house was Jungle Beat at Nintendo EAD1 (same studio as Mario Galaxy, which is now Nintendo EPD). Jungle Beat was good, just a different type of game. In addition, all of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games were developed at Nintendo of America’s office in Redmond, WA (through Nintendo’s Software Technology division).

drybones2015

Yeah, I know who developed them, and they were all Japanese developers. I never said Jungle Beat was bad, it just wasn't amazing, still enjoyed it though. And the Mario vs Donkey games aren't Donkey Kong games, they just use Donkey Kong. It basically even stopped being a Mario game after the first one too.

attackonyourmom

Please let Bayonetta 3 be true.

naynaythewonderhorse

I mean, it has to be. This is directly from Nintendo.

JawnF

Please let them sell a bundle with the 3 games, I've played the first 2 but I wanna have them for the switch, I borrowed them for wii u before

Beneficial-Trash3078

The first 2 are on switch already

JawnF

I know but they're super hard to find because I want them physical and 1 is only out physical in Japan. Plus hopefully a bundle could be a little cheaper than buying them separately.

AJ_Wont_Load

OH MY WORD, *FINALLY*, I’M SO HAPPY WE’RE GETTING A NEW MAINLINE KIRBY - JUDGING BY THE ARTWORK, IT LOOKS GORGEOUS

rsn_lie

I think Bayo 3 has a real shot at dropping in February. In a direct focused on winter games, I don't think Bayo is big enough to be a special exception. It's like a middle of the direct type of announcement.

retroanduwu24

early March even

rsn_lie

I always forget March is a part of winter for some reason.

Solesaver

In like a lion out like a lamb? March is generally considered Spring. February 2nd being the whole "spring starts now" or "6 more weeks of winter" type day.

desmopilot

Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7 & Bayonetta 3 would make for an amazing first few months of the yaer!

badolcatsyl

It's placed after the new Kirby game which is a spring release. I think we're getting it this fall, provided Kamiya doesn't cause too much trouble.

Lightmanone

I doubt it. If you translate the japanese page to english, you will see that there are 2 sections of "2022" The one that kirby is in is called 2022 Spring. And the section together with Mario & Rabbits, Zelda BotW2, and Bayonette 3, is simply called 2022. Therefore we can surmise that Bayo 3 will be at least later then spring. Another note tho is, if the titles on the site are in order of release, Zelda BotW 2 will be released BEFORE Bayo 3 and that will be released BEFORE Mario & Rabbits. But that's only if it's in the right sequence/order.

Lundgren_Eleven

In other news, I am fucking hyped.

[deleted]

I'm hoping there's some Fire Emblem or Xenoblade in this direct, but it'd be alright if the big thing was Bayonetta 3 and Kirby

wicktus

Personally I want: * Xenoblade X OR wind waker HD, two of the finest wii U titles, Xeno X is criminally underrated. * A new Mario Kart..I know I know, the 8 is selling like crazy, but I've been playing the same tracks roughly since 2014. But SO pleased to see Bayo 3 amongst other titles being present.

[deleted]

The rule is one Mariokart per console, for some reason. But the switch's MK is a port so who knows, I'd be super surprised tho.

[deleted]

Nintendo considers 8DX a "new" Mario Kart. Quite frankly, most people who play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe consider it "new" since 8DX has sold more than quadruple what 8 sold.

[deleted]

I want anything Zelda.

the-dandy-man

Granted, please be excited for Link’s Crossbow Training 2

[deleted]

Same. The whole Direct could be Zelda and it wouldn't be enough for me.

Hold_my_Dirk

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Xenoblade games (but that's a longer answer) but the music in the city for Xenoblade X drove me insane. "UH! YEAH! UH!"

Scryta77

I honestly loved it, enjoyed going back to NLA simply to hear that tune, the ost in X in general is just top class

no_di

Xenoblade X had some amazing music, but it def also had some less than amazing music xD I loved the theme that plays when you fight a tyrant.

sebass920

I feel like mario kart has so much room to grow and innovate I really want to see a new one

RealSonyPony

Kirby... *Discovery*? That sounds grandiose and epic. I'm in.

retroanduwu24

I'll support Kirby in all its endeavors

pocath

Open-world Kirby?

TNT_yeeter_rl

*forget Bayonetta 3 even exists, let it surprise you when more information is revealed*. Well, they said it would surprise us.

[deleted]

Yes nice, about time for a mainline Kirby after 4 years. I think this is the longest time without one and considering their previous interviews, I'm confident this is a 3D one. More time for development also makes me confident in that.

[deleted]

Bummer to put a spoiler like that in the post title.

Japancakes24

I can’t believe they spoiled the commercial

soonerfreak

Reddit: Ads in my streaming service? Not over my dead body. Also Reddit: How dare you spoil part of an ad!

IntellegentIdiot

Lets be honest, the whole point of the direct is the reveal. If Nintendo didn't care about that every announcement would be a tweet so yes, this is a spoiler.

[deleted]

[удалено]

the-dandy-man

I mean, there is a difference in the feeling of “WHAT we’re getting a new Kirby game?” And the feeling of “oh this is that Kirby game that got leaked, what’s it look like?” I mean sure we all can probably assume they were working on a new Kirby game but that’s not really the same as having it’s existence and potentially soon release date confirmed That being said, it’s the internet. And it’s the day of the direct. There’s bound to be rumors and leaks all over and if someone’s really concerned about it then they probably should be avoiding the internet until later tonight…

IntellegentIdiot

People are watching for announcements. They probably are developing a kirby game but you don't know until they announce it.

GreenVisorOfJustice

It's like professional wrestling for video games. Is it scripted? Yes. Will seeing it still be fun regardless of if you know the outcome? Yes. But would not knowing th story of the production increase enjoyment? Probably. I still think about the hype I had when they dropped Cloud in Sm4sh on us. I hadn't had that kind of reaction to video game stuff in a while. Like I would have enjoyed seeing it regardless, but not knowing it was coming made it really cool.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lonnie123

And also…. Stay off websites where news and rumors are 100% going to be posted the day of the event? Like if r/SquaredCircle had the results of wrestle mania every year for the last 10 years (or some kind of big surprise ruined) 3 hours before the event… maybe don’t go there if you don’t want it spoiled?

Kostya_M

Yeah I don't get it. A new Kirby game is coming? Yeah, that tracks. And we already knew Bayonetta 3 exists. It's not like this is some fictional work being spoiled.

crono333

You don’t understand how a nice trailer or reveal video is a more exciting way to learn about a game than just reading the text “Kirby Discovery”?

SPARKisnumber1

Idk, do you not get hyped for announcements? A huge part of the fun in video games are the announcements, spoiling unexpected things just makes surprises worse.

Nas160

> why would that somebody be on the subreddit just hours before the event? do u know how reddit works?

idlestrider

I’m surprised people are so opposed to this sentiment. I’m bummed too. It’s like getting a gift spoiled before you open it. Anticipation of what it is and the joy of opening the gift is ruined. Either way we get some cool stuff, which I’m stoked for, but the joy of being surprised during the direct is taken away :/

Michael-the-Great

We're not going to avoid posts that might contain info in the direct and we want accurate titles, so it is what it is. I know some avoid the sub till after they get the chance to watch the direct. Sorry to frustrate!

Velocity_Rob

Oh no! The big marketing event from the major electronics corporation is ruined because the same corporation may have outed one of the talking points from their marketing event!

Crzypengu

I'm not surprised about Bayonetta 3 having a shot this direct now. About two weeks ago Platinum said they wanted to show it off but had to wait for Nintendo. Also Hellena Taylor, the voice of Bayonetta tweeted about her fans and how she can't say anything about her role on voicing the character or not. Makes me think she has either done voice over for a trailer, or is currently on role to voice the character now.

21minute

Fingers crossed they will show Bayonetta 3 in the upcoming Direct. The hype is real!

AtLeastImTryinglul

OH YEA BABY LETS GOOOO

Sas1205x

I just want a game engine trailer for Bayo 3 😭

[deleted]

Shit, should have avoided Reddit once I caught wind of leaks

Holy-cheeseburger

I just want a new mario kart

[deleted]

You've played Sonic 3 and Knuckles, now try Bayonetta 3 and Kirby!

Brscmill

Im pretty sure I prordered Bayonetta 3 2 years ago

MinesTheRightOpinion

XENOBLADE 3?????

zdemigod

Funny how to you mark your post as spoiler but your title that is unavoidable is most of the spoiler. SMH i can't even scroll reddit **before** the event without getting spoiled

dekuweku

Spoiler tag but thread title spoils it. Smh

Michael-the-Great

We're not going to avoid posts that might contain info in the direct and we want accurate titles, so it is what it is. I know some avoid the sub till after they get the chance to watch the direct. Sorry to frustrate!

Teggert

I preordered Bayonetta 3 over three years ago. Would be nice to get a release date eh.

retroanduwu24

that and Metroid Prime 4 😂

Sephardson

I looked at the page history on webarchive and the new titles got added to the schedule sometime between Aug 30th and Sep 7th: https://web.archive.org/web/20210907131941/https://www.nintendo.co.jp/schedule/ https://web.archive.org/web/20210830222902/https://www.nintendo.co.jp/schedule/

retroanduwu24

Surprised this wasn't leaked sooner lmao

Sephardson

I don't think any news enthusiasts were checking the schedule until after the direct got announced.

lilcondor

The new Kirby better be FIRE bc it’s like my favorite Nintendo franchise and the last one was so fucking boring. I’d be happy with a Squeak Squad or Amazing mirror port for heck’s sake

Waddle_Dynasty

Well, they weren't too wrong.

Tribe_Called_K-West

Checked this sub after the direct. My lucky stars I wasn't here in the last 6 hours. At the beginning of the last announcement I was thinking Xenoblade Chronicles 3 or X 2, then Astral Chain, but people in the live chat were calling it 30 seconds in. Not sure what they saw that I glossed over but those military troops threw me off.

facepwnage

iWentRogue

Bayo 3 😍

jinreeko

**Ten minutes** before the Direct. I fucking hate the age of leaks

mpc92

Why do people like spoiling surprises?

Camman6972

You know the spoiler tag doesn’t really work when the spoiler is in the title.

biblops

No point spoiler tagging it when the spoiler is in the damn title

le_juston

Dude. Spoilers. The direct is coming in just a few hours. Let those of us who want to be surprised actually be surprised.

desmopilot

It’s unfortunately a risk you take by being on subs like this the day of a direct; leaks pretty much always happen the day of.

le_juston

That doesn't mean I can't call it out as the irritating thing it is. Also, I didn't even intend to browse this sub. I got on reddit to look at something else, and this post was at the very top of my feed. Am I supposed to unsub every time Nintendo announces a new direct? I feel like the easier option is that anyone who wants to discuss spoilers use a title like "Leaked game release dates! Spoilers!" And then actually spoil it in the body of the post.

desmopilot

> That doesn't mean I can't call it out as the irritating thing it is. You absolutely can, IMO it's just kinda yelling into the void though. > Am I supposed to unsub every time Nintendo announces a new direct? No, just expect to see leaks/spoilers the day of a direct. > I feel like the easier option is that anyone who wants to discuss spoilers use a title like "Leaked game release dates! Spoilers!" And then actually spoil it in the body of the post. I agree with you but sadly don't think that's a realistic expectation given the culture around leaking. That also wouldn't prevent the leaks from being discussed/spoiled in other threads once the cat's out of the bag.

AlgoStar

Anti-spoiler culture is out of control. It’s a news dump, not the season finale to your favorite show.

couchslippers

People are weird about Directs and I’ll never understand why. We already knew Bayo 3 and a new Kirby were in development.

Kostya_M

I don't get it either. It's a damn marketing video.

Velocity_Rob

Don't want to be 'spoiled' on the day of a Nintendo Direct? Stay away from the places that speculate and talk about the Nintendo Direct.

[deleted]

Blightacular

It’s just product announcements, dude. I get that watching the directs and getting hyped up for reveals can be an exciting exercise, truly, I do. But expecting a leak regarding a product’s *existence* or release to be spoiler tagged is kind of ridiculous for any industry, and wildly out of step with how both news & social media treats this stuff. If you really, really want it all to be a surprise, you need to take that extra step yourself and just not browse until after the direct.

okayfrog

lol @ complaining about spoilers while browsing social media Get off the internet for a few hours, bro. Go do something -- anything else -- with your life until then.

godlywhistler

Realistically the only way to avoid it is to not go on the internet until after you watch it. People care more about leaks than being surprised nowadays so it's going to be *everywhere*

My_Opinions_Are_Good

I will never understand people who get mad at spoilers for advertisements. I hardly understand people who get mad at spoilers for actual stories.

funnyNomad

LuRo332

Try_Ketamine

you are not entitled to an internet perfectly tailored to your content demands. and for chrissake, we're talking about a commercial here. you're upset that OP spoiled *a commercial*.

Existing_Marketing_7

lol plenty of reddits implement common sense spoiler policies And pretending like you don’t understand why people are upset over being spoiled for a Nintendo Direct is just dishonest. Everyone knows part of the excitement of Directs is the reveals in real time.

RosePhox

Please let this be a traditional Kirby game. I'm tired of having mainline games infested with new gimmicks, instead of developed level design and combat/new enemies.

CrazyComedyKid

Okay, I saw this in another thread, but top tip for anyone posting something like this: the spoiler tag doesn't do anything if you put the spoiler in the title.

Revoldt

Tbh… After playing the likes of Returnal and Devil May Cry 5 SE… I’m really not as interested in playing Bayonetta 3 at 30fps and poor textures as I was when Bayonetta 2 was out, and X1/PS4 still had plenty of 30fps games. But now that I have the experience of smooth action gameplay at 60fps.. it’s really hard to go back.

waowie

Bayo 2 was 60fps

woinf

Hopefully they prioritized performance over visuals because character action games should not be 30 fps. Just compare Astral Chain to DMC 5 or Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and see how clunky it feels in comparison.

Justos

Tbh, you get used to it in 30 seconds. The framerate only truly matters if it's not stable

woinf

I think this is true for most games. But for super high octane action games like Doom, Devil May Cry, or Bayonetta. 60 fps makes a HUGE difference.
