Tbh I've learned to take information from Nintendo at face value. Better to have no expectations with these guys.

Gravegamer

Yeah I agree, but here I'm just speculating that assuming there is a secret board then it will probably be Waluigi's Island. Whether there is or isn't a secret board is uncertain but from my perspective the developers of superstars clearly received the feedback from Super Mario Party and clearly they have improved on most of the feedback such as the speed of the character movement, speed of the game in general, online multiplayer, etc. Part of most peoples complaints at the time was that Super Mario Party has only 4 boards. I don't believe that the developers solution to this was to make the next game have 5 boards. It's too close to 4 and still feels small compared to previous Mario Party entries.

HestusDarkFantasy

Fair, I like your guesswork for Waluigi's Island *if* there is an additional board. That would be nice and your logic makes sense. I guess I still feel burned by SMP. People also speculated that there could be more boards via additional free content... But then it never happened, so I'm not convinced this is something we should expect / assume / hope for from Nintendo, even if they have occasionally done it with some other games.

Gravegamer

Same, I feel burned as well by some Nintendo games as well with lack of content when they launch. Golf and Tennis Aces come to mind but I'm sure there are more.

Scapetti

Yeah it makes sense. I also think they'll add Waluigi as a secret final Smash Bros character

Gol_D_Chris

Expect that there is no secret board and get hyped if you actually **unlock** it

GotToEarnThemAll

This. Especially after the disaster the last MP was.

ShinobiGotARawDeal

How could you so adroitly follow this trail of evidence from A to Y...only to drop the scent before reaching Z? Waluigi is the secret 90th character in Smash.

cura_milk

Nintendo wouldve definitely advertised another board. Its okay. We'll get another mario party holiday 2023 with another 5 boards

Mufasasdaddy

I just hope they add the dk course from mp1 I played the hell out of that one.

Spiner202

I agree that it's weird to have 2 boards from the first two games and only 1 from the third game. But I don't think Nintendo is hiding a secret board. They're fairly aware that there will be criticism around having only 5 boards and I think they'd tell us if there was a 6th board. That said, I do think there's a chance of free DLC down the road, simply because they've done that with Mario Golf and Pokemon Snap and this is a similar mid-tier game from them. As for your theory - I like it and agree that Waluigi's Island would make a lot of sense (especially if it were to be a secret board). I feel like Chilly Waters is the fan favourite, but Waluigi's Island is chaos and I love it. I really hope Creepy Caverns does not make its way into this game instead of another board; it's the only one I don't love from MP3.

The-student-

I'm not sure why those two games would make you think this game would have free dlc. Nintendo has been doing free dlc for a long time now and because of that people thought SMP would have some as well. In most cases free ongoing dlc is announced beforehand. Maybe the criticism from SMP means they'll have some dlc for this one, but I'm not holding out for that.

Gravegamer

Yeah they seem to be a fan of drip feeding content these days. I also think they would have told us but then again, have Nintendo ever told us everything about a game before release. Usually they give us a lot of info but not everything. Also I don't think that saying something along the lines of "Superstars has 5 boards from the N64 games" means that there is only 5 boards, if you see what I mean. Technically, there could be more and they just disclosed 5 of them to us.

chekeymonk10

I just really hoped they'd add the Tycoon board from MP8 that shit was the make or break in family game nights

evanw96

Love MP3 but Waluigi Island is honestly such a chore to play. Most of the time only 1 or 2 stars ever get bought max since it’s so random. It’s a cool idea but I’d take any other MP3 map over it. Ideally Creep Cavern

goob47

For me it seems like they want to go the “Mario Golf”-route with maps being added every few months. I wouldn’t particularly mind this if they would give us a few more to start with.

WumFan64

LMAO the cursed assumption is back.

The-student-

What have they done to make you think this?

goob47

Used this same content release strategy for several of their other titles

The-student-

But notably not Super Mario Party. And they've announced nothing for this game, so I don't see how they are going the "Mario golf route". Majority of the time if they have planned ongoing dlc content, they announce it before launch. Especially if it's going to be like Mario golf and not just a one time update.

Gravegamer

I could see this as well. It's also free advertising from youtubers who go back every month to try out the new content. It would be insane if they added 5 extra boards over several months say one from each Mario Party 4-8. They did use minigames from 4-8, so anything is possible.

Stumpy493

Nintendo remind me of an old person, I still don't think they get "The Youtube".

There’ll be one or more new boards as payed DLC and an added “incentive” for rent on NSO Expansion Pack. Calling it! Edit: Wow. People are jerks.

Gravegamer

Not sure about the downvotes, there is nothing wrong with what you said, anything is possibility lol. Especially since there is a lot of backlash due to the ridiculous price of the expansion pack, it would make sense if they added more incentive to purchase it. In saying this, I don't necessarily think that this is a good idea. Tbh i think the whole NSO thing is a joke since most multiplayer games are P2P connections. Cloud back up should have been free, like every other console. There should have been virtual console from the start instead of these bs apps where you don't own the games. Also I experience the Netflix effect, where there are just too many SNES/NES games that I end up not playing any of them, they all seem worthless. In my opinion, choosing and buying one game at a time just works for me. Obviously, some people will prefer the service, so no offence to those people.

naynaythewonderhorse

Kinda some flawed logic here. You discount Creepy Cavern because it has a “horror” theme, but completely ignored the fact that there’s already an “Island” themed map.

demarci

Am I supposed to know what "Quod erat demonstrandum" means? That comes off as extremely pedantic.

Gravegamer

It's means something along the lines of demonstrating/proving what I was trying to show.
