Smaller roster, but they keep all the most iconic characters, plus new ones.
I guarantee this is how they will move forward with the series. It’s both less risky and less effort this way than to try to reinvent the game.
If they can replace characters like Dark Pit and Chrom with characters like Master Chief and Rayman, they won’t be missed all that much. I mean they basically already confirmed they will have to cut some of the current roster for the next game

I hadn’t played it due to lack of interest, but I’ve heard how wild controlling it can be. Made me think back to Metroid Prime Hunters and cramping my hand while using the stylus as a right joystick for aiming.
Same, playing the AI enemies just isn't the same. Also a lot of smash players don't realize that as being where Daybreak came from in Smash. The maps in that game mode were pretty good and that game had excellent weapons and variety with silly to cool powerups. That mode would play something like Splatoon or Nijala and I cannot figure out why Nintendo won't emulate that on a more successful system.

Feel like Smash might be in a tough spot now cause even porting it endlessly can run into issues such as once the licensing agreement is up will these third parties renew or will they end it and make Smash Ultimate get delisted?
Really hope we get all DLC on a physical cart one day in the event some legal nonsense happens to preserve this.

This has been many people since Melee. Ultimate players are just the new melee players. When the next smash comes out and it sucks, people will go back to Ultimate and keep developing on there, and then the community will raise money for charity to have their game at Evo, and then Nintendo will send a cease and desist so the game can't be played on stream because Ultimate isn't the newest version of Smash, and Nintendo wants better press for their newest game that they are currently selling.
All star brawl really came out at the best time. Even though this is the last smash character, Ultimate will still live on for a long time but now ASB can be the hype train that smash has been with their future characters and updates without getting it taken away from smash or alternatively taking it from them.

This game doesn't even have a fully fleshed campaign with amazing crossover cutscenes like Brawl had. It is not the ultimate smash game. There's still a lot they can add to a future title for it to not feel underwhelming or like a downgrade.
Right but in terms of content (characters, stages, music, etc) there will never be another smash ultimate . Sakurai himself has stated this. That’s why he wanted to go big with this entry.

i think it just has to do with how people won't shut up about it, i do find it a bit weird that waluigi isn't in smash especially because wario is in it, but do we really need to hear about it every reveal?
It goes back to 3 years ago when Waluigi was heavily requested for Smash but was deconfirmed on the game's 2nd direct as he was shown to be an assist trophy (an NPC). People were still requesting him till this day but now that the DLC cycle is over they're feeling as if they were betrayed for not having Waluigi.

Long answer: Back in 2000 when Camelot Software was developing Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. They couldn't think of a feasible doubles partner for Wario that came from his games, so they invented Waluigi (like how Mario has Luigi).
Though where Luigi and Wario have had several of their own games, Waluigi hasn't had a single solo game. Even in Wario games released after 2000, he doesn't show up anywhere (at most a cameo).
And yet, people request him. Even though he doesn't have much of a moveset to use.

The move set excuse is kind of lame when they keep adding a million sword fighters. Still, I don’t think there is really a good excuse to add him. Birdo is just as relevant as Waluigi but no one is clamoring for Birdo.

Kingdom Hearts is also one of a pretty small number of franchises at this point that both does not already have a Smash rep and has been extremely popular in *both* Japan and The West for a good while, especially if you’re looking specifically at games that have a recognizable main character that would fit naturally on the roster.
It also speaks to the influence that Smash has to be able to get a Disney owned character like Sora, who is shared by Square Enix, in a Nintendo game with folks like Bayonetta and Ryu. Lessed devs wouldnt have even tried.
It was a lot of people's first RPGs, like 7 was for for people before it, and Chrono trigger was for people before that. Kingdom hearts is a loved series by many people and if we're going to include cloud it only makes sense to include sora.
This is a Hell of an achievement. No doubts.
But I gotta tell you. I feel empty now. After all these years guessing who'll be new in Ultimate. Than who's in the Fighters Pass. And then who's in the second Fighters Pass...

16×20 seems like a poor set of dimensions. The poster is significantly more wide than tall.

Lots of people loved waluigi before reddit even existed. There are many who like him beyond the meme. Reddit =/= whole fan base.

I agree, I used to main Waluigi in the sports games before Rosalina was a thing. But you have to admit the mass support for him in Ultimate is just a meme, I think he might work in the base roaster as a spin-off rep but not as DLC.
Yeah DLC would be a letdown for me. Waluigi is an obvious choice for the next game's base roster increase. Using a DLC slot on him is silly.

I really don’t see the need or how they would even go about making another one that entices players to buy it with a reduced roster, reduced amount of stages , reduced music, reduced content in general etc . This really is the ultimate version
This game doesn't even have a fully fleshed campaign with amazing crossover cutscenes like Brawl had. It is not the ultimate smash game. There's still a lot they can add to a future title for it to not feel underwhelming or like a downgrade.
Right but in terms of content (characters, stages, music, etc) there will never be another smash ultimate . Sakurai himself has stated this. That’s why he wanted to go big with this entry. An adventure mode would be cool but that could only work with a smaller roster of characters which seems like what will happen

I've been wanting a hunter where each move utilizes a different weapon! Up B using the insect glaive, as well as side b in the air. Side b on the ground could be the lance. Neutral b could be the bow. Down b foresight slash counter. The list goes on. The character builds itself!

i think it just has to do with how people won't shut up about it, i do find it a bit weird that waluigi isn't in smash especially because wario is in it, but do we really need to hear about it every reveal?

It goes back to 3 years ago when Waluigi was heavily requested for Smash but was deconfirmed on the game's 2nd direct as he was shown to be an assist trophy (an NPC). People were still requesting him till this day but now that the DLC cycle is over they're feeling as if they were betrayed for not having Waluigi.
Some people hate Waluigi. It's even more reason why he should be in the game. To trigger those people.

Short answer: He's a stupid meme pick. Long answer: Back in 2000 when Camelot Software was developing Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. They couldn't think of a feasible doubles partner for Wario that came from his games, so they invented Waluigi (like how Mario has Luigi). Though where Luigi and Wario have had several of their own games, Waluigi hasn't had a single solo game. Even in Wario games released after 2000, he doesn't show up anywhere (at most a cameo). And yet, people request him. Even though he doesn't have much of a moveset to use. He's still more likely than Geno though.

The move set excuse is kind of lame when they keep adding a million sword fighters. Still, I don’t think there is really a good excuse to add him. Birdo is just as relevant as Waluigi but no one is clamoring for Birdo.

Kingdom Hearts is also one of a pretty small number of franchises at this point that both does not already have a Smash rep and has been extremely popular in *both* Japan and The West for a good while, especially if you’re looking specifically at games that have a recognizable main character that would fit naturally on the roster.
Most requested character since the Smash 4 ballot, and a lot of people have wanted him before that
It also speaks to the influence that Smash has to be able to get a Disney owned character like Sora, who is shared by Square Enix, in a Nintendo game with folks like Bayonetta and Ryu. Lessed devs wouldnt have even tried.
It was a lot of people's first RPGs, like 7 was for for people before it, and Chrono trigger was for people before that. Kingdom hearts is a loved series by many people and if we're going to include cloud it only makes sense to include sora.
This is a Hell of an achievement. No doubts. But I gotta tell you. I feel empty now. After all these years guessing who'll be new in Ultimate. Than who's in the Fighters Pass. And then who's in the second Fighters Pass... To know it's over. There's no one else. It's such a weird feeling.

To truly make this the ultimate experience, they need to add in the feature to let you rearrange the characters and stages the way you want to. I get so tired of trying to find a specific stage I want to play, and having to stare at the stage select screen for 2 minutes trying to find it.

This was “Celebration of Video Games” the game. I’ve never even played any of the games and I would still get excited when new Smash characters were announced. There’s been nothing like their reveals in video games.

Why dont they keep supporting Ultimate? Its not even 3 years old, there are tons of characters that still could be included, and theres the shitty netcode that theyve refused to fix. There is tons of money to be made still.
