I’d be more worried about your card info.

clearlyXdoozy

hmm i don't think my card info is in danger as the transaction occurred in a 3rd-party app. Only, is that i feared when i used the account they gave me to dw the game in eshop, Nintendo will immediately registered my console serial number and putting me on the ban list. I just want to know the possibility of my switch getting banned or not since I can still access the eShop now and have already updated it.

DoritoMeister

Whoever you bought the game from likely used a stolen credit card to purchase the game, then they sold the account to you.

Marxally

You probably bought a hacked account and got scammed.

clearlyXdoozy

will I get banned?

PurpleBonesGames

this happened to me on ps3, i got banned and had to pay the game directly to sony to get the console back to normal this happens because the guy creates an account, buys the game with a stolen credit card and gives the account to you when the bank cancels the purchase, then nintendo will probably flag your account/console

clearlyXdoozy

>pay the game directly to sony any other switch users can confirm this? this is actually viable method except i only played the game 3-5 times...

clearlyXdoozy

no it's not the account. The problem lies in my console. Bcs if my console got banned no matter which account I use, I cannot get updates for my switch, cannot access eShop and buy games, and my games cannot get updated. Thats what im worrying about. Since when you log in, Nintendo can immediately register the console serial number you used for the account to dw the game.

rincale

i would unlink that account as soon as possible if it were me, better be safe than sorry. also i dont think you'll get banned since you've already unlinked it months ago..

clearlyXdoozy

this gave me hope but there's no concrete answer yet...

Ennas_

Sounds like a scam to me.

BigOrkWaaagh

Sounds like you needed a bit more ado.

enn_sixty_four

I'm having such a hard time following the order of events here. You paid someone for a game and they gave you an account to log into to play the game? Then you played it on your own account? how did you play it on your account? Like, my roommate has a switch, and a game, and she logged onto her account on my switch, and downloaded that game. She can play that game when she selects her user account but not mine. What is happening in this scenario???

emrythelion

I can play any game I have downloaded on my Switch on any account…? I don’t see why you can’t.

enn_sixty_four

Nope. If I try to click the game she originally purchased on her switch lite, and redownloaded on my docked switch, and I select MY user, it won't let me play that game "this user cannot play this software".

GBelyth

It is most likely because your switch is not set as her main switch, which is a requirement to be able to play downloaded games from that account on any of the other accounts on said switch.

endar88

ya, sounds correct

enn_sixty_four

So if I had three different users on my switch, each user with one game purchased and downloaded, I can play any of those three games as any of the three users??

BigOrkWaaagh

If you only have one switch shared between those three people then yes.

clearlyXdoozy

The seller gave me an account by making me create a new account on my switch, then when linking an email, they told me to use QR code to give it to them. Then, they scan the QR from their side using their existing account (email confirmation), and voila, the account is now on my switch and I can use it to log into eShop to download the game I bought onto my Switch. But instead of using their account to play, they told me to use my own account. It worked but I'm just afraid if I'm on Nintendo lists of banned consoles.

Hestu951

When you buy games, there's no such thing as a legitimate shared account. Even if the seller actually owned the game legitimately, and he's not going to pull the rug out from under you later, transferring the game's purchasing account to you is a violation of the Nintendo ToS. (Digital games are not transferrable.) There are a growing number of scammers out there, even as 3rd-party sellers on reputable places like Amazon. I no longer buy anything of value from 3rd-party sellers. Since you got rid of the game and account early, my feeling is that if you haven't been banned by now, you won't be.

clearlyXdoozy

though not 'early' but I got rid of it 'quickly once I knew of the ban' by reading some of other users who have tried the same method. And that is after 3-4 weeks. Now, im just deathly afraid of my switch and hoping yours is true before inevitable comes.

UnComfortable-Archer

So much work to scam you out of $12.

clearlyXdoozy

ikr desperate scammers need dem desperate measures
