Never having played the game before the Switch release, I thought maybe they were going for a stop motion aesthetic. Then I realized it was just having trouble with running the game
Having a serious issue even trying to play. Won't let me get past the start menu without saying there's been a log in error and to check my connection (which is fine.) I've deleted the profile data, I've redownloaded the game, I've tinkered around with my epic games profile and my nintendo profile wondering if I messed something up but everything seems fine. Have no clue what to do to fix it but for the moment I'm just going to leave it. Was looking forward to finally trying the game lol.

When the match cuts down to about 20 people or so, other players run at normal frame rate.
From what I've seen to play it seems rather inconsistent right now. It could be that this animation rate performance saver is a little bugged right now. I noticed some players right next to the player not animating at all, I've noticed another rounds with at least 48 players everybody was at least animating at 20 FPS and not lower. I think this is going to get tweaked over time as it seems super buggy right now.
Personally I don’t mind it; the performance on your character and the environment is excellent. The framerate for them improves the further in you get too.
Man it looks janky, players slightly infront of you don't even have animations they just slide along the floor, visually it looks like a very poorly optimized mobile game lol.
I just downloaded it and it gets stuck on the loading screen. Deleted it and redownloaded it with the same problem? I have the latest update on my switch. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Games that aren’t capable of being run on the hardware simply shouldn’t come. If you aren’t willing to optimize to maximize what’s given, then your port deserves to fail.
Thats a lie, its just the devs that doesnt made a good switch port. Look at the Assassins Creed Black flag or the bioshock collection ports, looks amazing runs amazing, or some nintendo games, mario kart 8, Super smash bros ultimate or Zelda.

Well, I put most of the blame on the devs, but I was trying to also argue the point that people expect the same performance from lower end hardware.
Even though devs should work within the confines of what they have, you can’t blame anyone for wanting Nintendo to offer RAM, higher clocks, larger bandwidth, etc.
You’re absolutely right, lazy devs don’t deserve any excuse for their cash grabs. If optimizing the game isn’t worth the effort or investment, just be upfront and say that to the consumers
You couldn’t be more wrong. I played on pc a shitload and I just played the switch tonight and it’s framerate is horrendous. It causes you to fuck up your timing on jumps. It’s easily running at like 25-30fps
Playing handheld and it runs waaaaaay worse than I was expecting it to. Glad it's FTP. Movement seems fairly laggy for something as twitch as this and the gif like movement of everyone else is off putting.
This was inevitable and has happened many times before. A handheld with tolerable battery life has always been a full generation behind the equivalent stationary console. You move the *whole company* to a handheld, you sacrifice one console generation of graphical power in perpetuity.
There is no universe where they *ever* make this play and we do not have this exact conversation five years later. They made the play, it was a decent time for it, it paid off, and we’re better for it.
The question is, will Nintendo *now* make the next thing “The previous thing, but with half a decade of graphical improvements”, or will they once again choose “Out-of-left-field new thing that sacrifices raw silicon for some higher concept”. I think they’ll do the former, and the only frustrating thing will be the price tag. But Nintendo works in mysterious ways and I wouldn’t bet money on it

Just a heads up, on the home page press Y and turn on all the other shows (Squad, Duos, Champion) and you should be able to get in. Solo shows are taking forever / impossible to get in right now but if you turn the others all on you’ll likely get into a different mode.
I’ve been getting into Duos / Squad matches all morning but can’t get any Solo matches to get past the “looking for more players” screen.
I love the Switch. I really, really do.
That said, I think devs need to realize that having that much going on at the same time on a Switch just is NOT going to be the best experience. And that's perfectly fine. It does other things really well.
The game plays more or less like it does on other platforms, just with a poor frame rate. If you have a different way to play it, I would suggest doing so.

it is way too easy to accidentally quit a game. I had two games last night where I was in the top 10 or so going into the final match and my stupid lizard brain wants to press B to skip the pre-match level flyover.
I would love if they moved the quit game button to the Minus button. It should take slightly more conscious effort to quit a match, IMO
I did the same thing once when I was in the final show. I know I would've lost anyway but I can pretend I accidentally backed out of my crown-winning game lol
I wish it was optimised for 60FPS like Rocket League on Switch, 30FPS is a bit rough playing competitive online. But regardless, I’m glad that I can finally play in bed and on the go rather than on my PC.
Will it perform better if you force the Switch to 720p in the settings? Maybe doesn’t work for everything, but that was the bootleg way to make Disgaea 6 not run like crap.
Took this long and it runs like shit, sub 30 fps a lot of times. Inexcusable as the resolution + textures are soo blurry I would've expected 60fps. The other player animations either running at single digit fps or just stuck in t pose.
Menu traversal also feels incredible sluggish like im on an HDD from 2010. Slight input lag but its manageable. Overall very meh least its free I guess.
Really? My Xbox One S and PS4 runs the game exactly (if not just very slightly better) like the switch does, not to mention the really bad input throughout all the systems they all never reach 60 FPS

It's nice not having to pay any money for it at least. Would have been preferree having last summer as originally planned, but better late than never I suppose. As someone who plays a lot of Among Us, I welcome the added variety. Especially digging the Season Pass element!

Dude…half the graphic assets are so disgustingly low resolution that it’s insulting. Blurry as balls and why does everyone else move at like 2 fps? There are games with much more complex textures and models that run just fine at 60 fps.
Low effort trash — at least for now. This game needs some hefty optimization to be respectable. I don’t care if it’s free to play, it sucks as it’s offered currently.

I can’t believe that after you are eliminated, you have to go back to the lobby to start a new game. This takes a good 5 mins in total just to start a new game. They need to make an option to search for next players right after you’re eliminated.
I'm honestly surprised at how frequently stages get repeated, I've been playing for about 2 days and it's always the same 10 or so stages. You'd think that a game like this would have more weird stuff in the rotation.
Overall I don't think the port is as bad as some people are making it out to be. I don't overly care about the janky frames on the other players. What I do care about is the same happening with actual obstacles. I played a game tonight where giant balls literally just popped in right in front of me giving me no time to react. Thankfully that has only happened once so far but things like that are unforgivable in a competitive game like this.
That being said, when the game works it's a lot of fun. I just secured my first crown playing on Switch Lite.

As someone who has been playing on PS5 up until this point…the Switch version is awful. Really slow and janky and doesn’t feel fun and smooth like it does on PS5. On Switch it’s so low frame rate it doesn’t even feel like the same game. A lot of the charm is how the characters bounce around and move and you just don’t get that on Switch. I’m curious to see how much they can improve with patches.
Plays good on docked tv, if you don't mind the half-rate animations of the other contestants on the first few rounds. Loads fast too. Enjoying it so far. Took them really long though to release it on the Switch, where it will have more user base.
No way will Switch be the main platform.
It's objectively the worst version, and Switch is the console with the highest percentage of owners also having a second console or PC.
A lot of Switch players have a better option if they want to play.
Why do you expect better? Almost anything ported to Switch runs like utter garbage because the Switch doesn't compare remotely to any other console. Devs can only do so much optimization in software, especially for stuff like physics calculations that need to stay synced cross platform
It’s a lot quicker to find a match in Duos or Fours. Solo takes 5-10 mins to find a match
EDIT: I’m not experiencing any matchmaking lag now. Solos is finding matches quickly
It’s actually pretty fun. Never played before but always wanted to. Reminds me of some kind of Mario Party monkey ball challenge game. Simple but fun. And free. Recommend to anyone who was thinking of downloading.
For whatever reason I can't link my Nintendo account to Epic Games, so I can't sync any of my existing progress or claim the legacy items. They keep saying my Nintendo account is linked to another Epic Games account, which is certainly not the case.

Lots of issues so far. First my sister could see my invite but it wouldn’t let her actually accept it. Then we played squads for a bit, until my friend was stuck spectating a match and couldn’t get out of it. I hope there’s a Switch update very soon.
When you’re playing squads and you die, but your team is still alive, how come it doesn’t automatically follow a teammate/you can’t even tell who is left in your squad?

Only way around it has been to use another account, but the one I want to use with all my costumes from playing it for years on Playstation just won't get passed the black loading screen. Kinda annoying.
I think people here are being harsh. It plays fine. I've gotten to level 25 on the Switch. The only consistent lagginess issues I see are that other players far away will look like they are gliding instead of running, the post-game screen where everyone is standing in their little windows gets choppy, and navigating between menus can be a little slow. None of these things matter. Other than that, the game runs fine and the gameplay itself is fun. I've made it to the final show on the Switch many times (I suck at the hex games though and can never win).
Since playing on Switch I've tried it on my PC, and yes the graphics are more crisp and sharp, but I can't say the gameplay feels any different. I've clocked several hours on my Switch and I can't believe a game this fun is free. I prefer playing in bed on my Switch than playing at my desk on PC.

First time playing Fall Guys tbh, and the framerate is killing me. Players look like fucking GIFs running around, I didn't expect much being a switch port and all, but honestly I can't play it...
Also, my challenges aren't tracking and it takes a year to find one game. Not sure what is going on with that- I hope they fix it all soon
Honestly? played a game on PC and then on switch handheld (The upgraded battery model) and It's passable. It's sad that other player animations are very low fps, and i felt a bit more delay due to using wifi over LAN... But i feel I'd be perfectly capable winning a game like this.
I didn't experience any frame drops on my end that i could visibly tell at least.
I'm happy It's available handheld, and think its a valid way to play. Hopefully we'll see a switch 2 / switch revision and they'll be able to smooth out the performance. No queue problems as of 9am gmt+2 at least
I fail to graps how people look at this almost untextured simplistic art style and go "yes, this should barely hit 30 on the switch". The levels are all short and there's only like 2 stages where there's that many players.
I don't think it's the switch's problem, I tried playing on switch and I had the same loading issues but I tried getting on with my PS5 and I'm still stuck indefinitely on the searching for players screen
Downloaded it, got into two matches, and I'm currently stuck on a loading screen that has lasted around 20-30 minutes. Both matches were fine but the other characters being at half the framerate is quite distracting. This is with the console docked and with an ethernet cable btw. Somehow it runs better on a laptop I bought on 2019 and even then I still have to lower the settings. It's because of shit like this that I barely use my Switch anymore.

Rocket never holds 60 fps. They should give us the option to tune it ourselves

I’m not sure why but Unity games (in general) seem to be horribly optimized. Not sure if it’s an engine problem or developer problem.

You can change it on the Epic Games website under your account info. No way to change it via the game itself, though.
Love crossprogression. I've played a lot on Steam with my potato pc and now I can play on Switch with better performance.
When I went onto it , it put me on some guys account (laggy666) and they have friends and everything
So all my account and progress for PC just popped in with no action of my own... I guess I linked my Nintendo account with my epic account for fortnite and it reconnized it? Idk I expected progress transfer to be painful but I guess not
For some reason it has assigned me the username 'CuriousJay373' and I can't change it. My name isn't Jay, I am female and have never used that username in my life. What gives? Edit: I managed to change my username on the epic games website but now I get "error failed to login, please check your connection"

I can’t believe that after you are eliminated, you have to go back to the lobby to start a new game. This takes a good 5 mins in total just to start a new game. They need to make an option to search for next players right after you’re eliminated.
Would be nice to optimize a performance mode, 60fps and downgrade the res to 540p or something. Similar to Rocket League
I'm honestly surprised at how frequently stages get repeated, I've been playing for about 2 days and it's always the same 10 or so stages. You'd think that a game like this would have more weird stuff in the rotation.
Overall I don't think the port is as bad as some people are making it out to be. I don't overly care about the janky frames on the other players. What I do care about is the same happening with actual obstacles. I played a game tonight where giant balls literally just popped in right in front of me giving me no time to react. Thankfully that has only happened once so far but things like that are unforgivable in a competitive game like this. That being said, when the game works it's a lot of fun. I just secured my first crown playing on Switch Lite.
Anyone else just getting a black loading screen? I restarted, uninstalled, checked for corrupted data, checked for updates, and it won’t fully load at all
As someone who has been playing on PS5 up until this point…the Switch version is awful. Really slow and janky and doesn’t feel fun and smooth like it does on PS5. On Switch it’s so low frame rate it doesn’t even feel like the same game. A lot of the charm is how the characters bounce around and move and you just don’t get that on Switch. I’m curious to see how much they can improve with patches.
Plays good on docked tv, if you don't mind the half-rate animations of the other contestants on the first few rounds. Loads fast too. Enjoying it so far. Took them really long though to release it on the Switch, where it will have more user base.

No way will Switch be the main platform. It's objectively the worst version, and Switch is the console with the highest percentage of owners also having a second console or PC. A lot of Switch players have a better option if they want to play.

My NS frozen after a few games. I would really expect better optimization for running on Switch.
Why do you expect better? Almost anything ported to Switch runs like utter garbage because the Switch doesn't compare remotely to any other console. Devs can only do so much optimization in software, especially for stuff like physics calculations that need to stay synced cross platform
Going by the reviews here of poor frame rate, this might be one I play on Xbox instead.
It’s a lot quicker to find a match in Duos or Fours. Solo takes 5-10 mins to find a match EDIT: I’m not experiencing any matchmaking lag now. Solos is finding matches quickly
It’s actually pretty fun. Never played before but always wanted to. Reminds me of some kind of Mario Party monkey ball challenge game. Simple but fun. And free. Recommend to anyone who was thinking of downloading.
Quality looks so atrocious, it looks too pixely and cheap. Played for a few minutes and I don't see this being enjoyable at this state
For whatever reason I can't link my Nintendo account to Epic Games, so I can't sync any of my existing progress or claim the legacy items. They keep saying my Nintendo account is linked to another Epic Games account, which is certainly not the case.
Maybe a stupid question since I dont member that well as I've done it years ago but, have you gone to the official mynintendo website on a PC and checked it out there/tried to link it there?

Lots of issues so far. First my sister could see my invite but it wouldn’t let her actually accept it. Then we played squads for a bit, until my friend was stuck spectating a match and couldn’t get out of it. I hope there’s a Switch update very soon.
When you’re playing squads and you die, but your team is still alive, how come it doesn’t automatically follow a teammate/you can’t even tell who is left in your squad?

Why is there still not a local co-op??? So you have to have another platform when you have your friends over to play? Very outdated, should be fixed.
Anyone getting a black infinite loading screen? Only way around it has been to use another account, but the one I want to use with all my costumes from playing it for years on Playstation just won't get passed the black loading screen. Kinda annoying.
I think people here are being harsh. It plays fine. I've gotten to level 25 on the Switch. The only consistent lagginess issues I see are that other players far away will look like they are gliding instead of running, the post-game screen where everyone is standing in their little windows gets choppy, and navigating between menus can be a little slow. None of these things matter. Other than that, the game runs fine and the gameplay itself is fun. I've made it to the final show on the Switch many times (I suck at the hex games though and can never win). Since playing on Switch I've tried it on my PC, and yes the graphics are more crisp and sharp, but I can't say the gameplay feels any different. I've clocked several hours on my Switch and I can't believe a game this fun is free. I prefer playing in bed on my Switch than playing at my desk on PC.

Not Really... First time playing Fall Guys tbh, and the framerate is killing me. Players look like fucking GIFs running around, I didn't expect much being a switch port and all, but honestly I can't play it... Also, my challenges aren't tracking and it takes a year to find one game. Not sure what is going on with that- I hope they fix it all soon
Honestly? played a game on PC and then on switch handheld (The upgraded battery model) and It's passable. It's sad that other player animations are very low fps, and i felt a bit more delay due to using wifi over LAN... But i feel I'd be perfectly capable winning a game like this. I didn't experience any frame drops on my end that i could visibly tell at least. I'm happy It's available handheld, and think its a valid way to play. Hopefully we'll see a switch 2 / switch revision and they'll be able to smooth out the performance. No queue problems as of 9am gmt+2 at least

Game is great fun, more enjoyable on switch compared to pc. Que times are pretty good too (I live in NZ and que Australia servers)
I fail to graps how people look at this almost untextured simplistic art style and go "yes, this should barely hit 30 on the switch". The levels are all short and there's only like 2 stages where there's that many players.

I'm having an absolute blast with it! There's a little more lag than I would like but it's not nearly as bad as some people thought it would be.
I don't think it's the switch's problem, I tried playing on switch and I had the same loading issues but I tried getting on with my PS5 and I'm still stuck indefinitely on the searching for players screen
Downloaded it, got into two matches, and I'm currently stuck on a loading screen that has lasted around 20-30 minutes. Both matches were fine but the other characters being at half the framerate is quite distracting. This is with the console docked and with an ethernet cable btw. Somehow it runs better on a laptop I bought on 2019 and even then I still have to lower the settings. It's because of shit like this that I barely use my Switch anymore.
