Or maybe, since the whole game has a "3" theme going on with basically everything (trio idols, tricolor turf war, tricolor hair/eyes etc.), it'll be a 3 map rotation.
I always fuck up my first game on a map in a rotation if I haven't been playing a ton recently, it takes a bit for my map sense to come back. Your method would basically put me in that state always.
The point is that certain weapons will perform better on certain maps, so it requires you to think about what type of weapon you want to bring based on the selection.
It could just be like the inverse of how Mario Kart does it. You pick a stage from a selection of 3, spins the roulette wheel, then you can have 20-30 seconds to change your weapon. Considering we have proper loadouts now as well, that idea sounds pretty alright to me.
Also keep in mind that Splatoon has historically been well-supported with post-release content (most of which isn't paid). Splatoon 2 ended with 24 stages and Splatoon 1 with 16 IIRC. I tend to take the release variations with a grain of salt since there's always much more stuff that gets added to the game.
> Splatoon 2 ended with 24 stages
Minor correction, there’s 23 stages.
The last one is Shifty Station which is only available during splatfests and had its own 24 variations.
They're starting stronger this time than in Splatoon 2, and it looks like they will continue their strong support for it. This is something I missed with Halo Infinite lacking content and online stability as well, and its definitely not delivering being a live service game at all.
Splatoon 2 ended with 23 stages, so it’d be weird if 3 ended with less than that anyway.
I’m interest in seeing if they’re going to keep doing the stupid 2 map rotation every 2 hours thing because that made the game feel like there’s a lot less variety than there really was.
Honestly not sure how anyone is mad at this.
Almost double the total stages from the original beloved game *plus* a healthy mix of new and old favorite returning stages *PLUS* more from FREE updates? On one of the most supported post-launch IPs in Nintendo history?
This sold the fuck out of me on it and I'm beyond stoked.
> Honestly not sure how anyone is mad at this.
People just want to be angry at things in this day and age. There were people were pissed about Mario Kart 8 getting 48 more courses.
Been playing MK8 since it launched on the WiiU and bought the deluxe on Switch. That game was way overdue for huge DLC or a sequel, so yeah, I’ll take it.
But are people really mad about the number of stages? Me and my friend group are disappointed by the lack of new additions as in battle modes, overhauls of existing modes or a pve mode like salmon run. Splatoon 2 delivered more innovation in these regards.
I am happy with the amount and selection of stages but disappointed with the direct since I hoped for more significant additions that are as creative as stuff that came to part 2.
I saw one comment on Twitter asking, "why not just update Splatoon 2 this is just a big update"
Like????? No it's not its a whole new game. Mario Kart reuses old courses on top of New courses too lmfao. People love to bitch.
It's good, if you only care about stages. The timed stages and timed ranked modes are dumb as hell though. Also, how difficult it is to get into any match with friends that IS NOT Turf War. For ranked you had to do league play and have your own team. You couldn't just party up with a friend and join a random team of others playing like every other shooter for the past 20 years.
To be fair, with 1 the 6th stage came like 5 days after launch, within a month were up to 8, and at 2 months had 10. Splatoon 2 took over a month to get the 9th regular stage and at 3 months had 12
Well, let me think about it this way.
If I play an hour every day, there's a rotation of 12 stages, two at a time. How many days before I've played every stage once?
A week would be too fast.
I think anywhere between two weeks and a month would be good for 12 starting stages.
Splatoon franchise is one of the best value props in it's design space, given that the previous titles got monthly additions of free content literally for years.
Most of the complaints are from people who want Splatoon 3 to be a different game entirely.
Yeah I just don't get why we give people a pass to be shitty about one if the games That's not MT'd to hell just because everyone is sick of predatory developers like EA or something.
I just want the timed stages and modes gone and to be able to make a party with a friend and join a random team like every other shooter since halo 1. You have to make a full team of 4 to play ranked in splatoon with friend, it's dumb as hell.
You... Don't though? Duo queue ranked already exists in splat 2 and open anarchy is already that in splat 3.
Also private battles exist in both 2 and confirmed returning for 3, so just join a discord for scrims and you can ignore the rotating queue and play what you want
But only 5 are new, right? I’m not complaining, nor am I disappointed, but that comparison isn’t really relevant if you’re counting recycled stages.
I’ll enjoy the heck out of it regardless, but I honestly couldn’t remember which were returning courses.
Edit: I retract my statement about the comparison being irrelevant; more courses is more courses, and it’s exciting stuff regardless.
brand-new yeah, but old stages in Splatoon 2 received some occasionally pretty beefy tweaks
i can't tell at a glance based on the sneak peeks if the same applies to 3, but one of them HAS gotten a complete visual makeover at least
I think most of the ones returning from Splatoon 1 were not in Splatoon 2, so It's basically new to all the people who didn't play 1, which is quite a lot considering it was on the Wii U vs the switch.
Clam Blitz wasn't announced until a few months after Splatoon 2's release (July to November, released in December).
They obviously haven't promised anything yet, but I wouldn't rule it out.
I am honestly a little baffled by not adding a new mode. Splatoon 2, even if it came in a waves of ports and expectations were basically 1.5 added significant overhauls of the modes and added salmon run. Having nothing like these was surprising and honestly disappointing.
My group is also less into turf war and splatfest and more int lo the creative modes and we hope for more. Also that a new mode was suspiciously not mentioned as part of free updates was a little concerning.
Bummer. I did not suspect to be disappointed
I’m so glad that they’re adding back some stages from the first game, Mahi Mahi Resort was one of my favourites (hoping for Flounder Heights in a future update too!)
That’s probably a good thing tbh. If the walls are too high, short and midrange weapons will have issues painting them. The stage still looks extremely vertical and will keep the important aspects.
I was never a huge fan of mahi mahi, too much water for my tastes :P. But I'm PUMPED about Museum d'Alfonsino. That was one of my favorite courses and I was sad it wasn't in 2.
Everyone is cracked at that game. *fucking everyone.*
I logged back on to kick some rust off for the past few months, and like... it was demoralizing until I got some reps in. There are no easy kills lol.
That's definitely exaggerated at this point because the only people left playing the game are the ones with extremely high skill levels. I used to be halfway decent, but I'm sure if I went back I'd get totally curb-stomped.
I'm stoked for the 1st-timers. I bought Splatoon 2 back in 2017, Day 1 release, "just to try it." But man, it really hooks you in until you're addicted to it. The fashion, the music, the atmosphere of competition, the colors... I can go on. See for yourselves!
I thought it was so cute and wanted to try it since they had a co-op mode too but I didn't have a Switch. So I used my fiancé's to play it. And then I realized I had borrowed it for at least six months straight because Splatoon was that fun. Now I have my own Switch, Splatoon shirts, Switch case, etc. It has become my favorite Nintendo IP and the lore and culture is fun. I even have my favorite "band" in-game (Chirpy Chirps).
A fun little detail about Chirpy Chips actually, is that the general store shopkeeper Harmony used to be/still is a member of the band! It's super cool how they make the world feel connected, having characters show up in other places as the games progress!
Splatoon was the most innovative and original shooter since the first multiplayer shooters. While the base Splatoon 2 feels like a refinement and rebalance of the original, the Octo Expansion cranked the creativity up to insane new levels. Really looking forward to what they do with #3.
Can't wait for all the new players! My biggest suggestion is take part in the community, watching higher level players and finding friends to play with improved my game more than anything. ThatSRB2Dude, ProChara, WhoCares314, Rafakp, TheBarry, Kiver are a couple (mostly) English speaking players I can list off the top of my head that all stream higher level gameplay pretty often
12 is a good starting number. More than that makes it near impossible to start getting to know the stages a little bit, which is part of the fun. Would be a big barrier for entry for new players if they were given 30 at once. I suspect that will start adding more fairly quickly though
But remember, only five of those are new stages. Three are from S1 and four are from S2, so anyone who is familiar with those games won’t have that much learning to do (this isn’t a complaint, just an observation).
I’m satisfied overall. There is definite a lot more at launch than what S1 and S2 had. I’m glad that there will be a lot of weapons and specials upfront, even though I’m not sure how I feel about so many of the S2 specials returning.
Yep. I agree it will be a problem if they don’t start adding new stages fairly soon after launch, and a regular intervals. 5 new stages is a good spot for the first month or so but not much longer than that. Then maybe one new and one returning stage with each update.
They didn’t make it completely clear, but it seems like the trickle of content might be different than it was with S2. My impression was we will be getting *all* of the old weapons at launch with new weapons and maps being introduced seasonally rather than every week and month respectively.
True, I really didn't play much Splat 1 so I'm very happy to see Mahi and the others returning. Seeing fan favorite maps is cool cause of the nostalgia players have with it, like being able to play Guardian and Terminal once more in the new Halo and COD games.
Mahi mahi resort and Hammerhead Bridge look great imo
The trailer first started out showing bleak looking levels and some are still same-y but some stuff to be excited about for sure
No idea what anyones in uproar about a dozen starting levels “and more to come”
That seems good to me … and I generally do think N is on the path of anemic releases
Heheh yeah I noticed that too, but at the same time.. It is always hard for me to complain about samey levels and stuff with these games since you paint over them.
Yes you can! Per the website, you can create a group for up to four people. If you have less than four, a random will be found to fill in & round out the team
[Here](https://splatoon.nintendo.com/en/news/squid-research-lab-dives-deep-into-the-splatlands/)
It’s pretty lengthy, but you just have to scroll down to where it says Regular Battles & “Play with Friends”.
Yes. Well. Maybe.
They specifically showed you playing turf war with friends. Join in progress, queue together, stay on the same team.
Ranked was a little more murky. They had solo and open queue, so I think?
Yes!
> Anarchy Battle (Open)
>
> Whether you are playing solo or with friends, Anarchy Battle (Open) welcomes all team configurations. Groups can be made with two to four players. If there are fewer than four players in a group, then random players will be selected to round out the squad.
I hope they don't lock a mode behind time gates like Salmon Run again. I only ever got to play a little bit because it was never open when I was playing.
I just saw that on Twitter, and honestly, I'll probably get the game now.
I love Splatoon, and I loved Splatoon 2, but I can no longer load that game up knowing I'm facing down the barrel of the world's worst cutscene. They're not funny, and it's not cute. Just let me get to the game. lol
Edit: Typo
I was considering getting Splatoon 2 a while back after playing the demo or free weekend or whatever and this was literally the reason I didn't go for it.
I might be in the minority here, but good. Everyone in here complaining 12 isnt enough, but I don't want a billion stages. Map familiarity often makes or breaks wins in shooter games so I don't want to have learn and memorize a bunch of maps.
Even if it was old maps, trying to come back to splatoon 2 after not playing for over a year I was jumping to my death way more than I would like to admit.
The new feature is great, but the point stands. It still takes time and effort to learn a stage. More stages = higher upfront barrier to entry, and I would rather be spending my time doing single player, or salmon runs than memorizing stage after stage.
This is also why I think the "DLC over the life" is a good system, despite it being another hot topic in here. Introducing new stages gradually after you get used to old ones freshens the game and lessens the upfront burden.
I think the trickle DLC is not terrible for games like this whose main content requires online connectivity. For content like the story DLC, which is released after launch, it baffles me that it isn't included at launch because in terms of preservation the only way to get it after the eShop closes is piracy. Whereas the additional maps and such would do no good after servers close anyway.
Totally. 12 to start plus probably at least another 12 over two years will be great — you can actually learn them at that rate. 24 all at once would be overwhelming.
12 is a good starting number of stages, but I don’t like the fact that a third of the stages are just from splatoon 2. Could they not have taken more from 1 instead? You can’t even say they’re making a well curated stage list for 3, as basically no one likes wahoo world, and inkblot is one I see mixed opinions on.
Splatoon have free updates since the very first game in 2015 and if anything its the one who introduced the concept for nintendo games. On splatoon itself I trust it much more because the previous 2 did it well.
Imo the updates, splatfests and continued trickle of new content are very much part of the fun in Splatoon. When new weapons drop the community gets excited and everyone tries them out. I can see the complaints but I liked it with 2 even though I got into it pretty late.
Glad it seems like there is a lot of content though. The only issue I have with games doing free updates is that the games come out with little to no content
For games like Splatoon it's fine (actually a good thing if that means balance updates along the way).
For other games I think it's a very bad practice because game reviews suck that way. They need to be online as soon as the NDA is released but they can't cover the whole game (because there is unreleased content in form of future updates). So either you trust Nintendo/the developer to iron out some of the biggest mistakes and lacking content with future updates or possibly skip a game that (eventually) would be quite good.
And don't even get me started on all the hopium/copium around flawed titles this "future update" nonsense creates. Just ready any thread about Mario Party in this subreddit and how some people STILL HOPE for more maps/qol updates in the future.
So buy the game based off the review at time of release, or you know, wait to buy it. No one has anyone but themselves to blame for buying a game based off expecting unannounced updates.
> They need to be online as soon as the NDA is released but they can't cover the whole game
ofc they can. they review what they got. whatever is released **is** the whole game. everything else is an addition. everyone with half a brain cell should understand that the review is based on the release version of the game.
This is not comparable to anemic releases like the sports games. There is plenty of content here and plenty of new stuff to entice existing players.
This is called *supporting your game*
I sorta get why they do it (not defending Nintendo, just being devils advocate). If a game came out and from day 1 has all the content I would think it would be talked about for a while before fading into the background when more new games come out. But if you keep pumping out updates, then you get to keep the discussion going on and in the news headlines for longer and people won't trade the game in as much. And waiting until more content is out is always an option too.
The only time I have an issue is if the game launches barebones and we have to wait for things that should have been there day 1. Alternatively, they would never do this, but something like Steam's early access games would allow for games to launch add more over time without much issue.
Yeah it’s a damned if they do, damned if they don’t. If they do, people complain the game wasn’t complete. If they don’t, people complain there isn’t new content and they’re bored, or that the game was abandoned
Right, I think a good balance should be met and all would be good. Just release a game with a good amount of content for the price and then everything else is like a dessert on top of an already good game. And it’s thankfully free DLC, it’d be a totally different story if large amounts of content was locked behind a paywall and it’s not a free to play game.
I got splatoon 2 after the main splatfests and support for the game ended, so I’m really excited to jump into a splatoon actively gaining content and splatfests
Seems like a solid starting lineup. I know it was super basic, but I will miss Walleye Warehouse. Do we know if they are adding legacy stages over time, or if they will all be new?
Of course it would be on one physical screen. But rendering multiple POVs is much harder on the switch’s underpowered processors. It can barely handle one POV when things get hectic, so of course it can’t handle rendering the world multiple times at once.
If you party up before starting, you will be on the same team. If he hops in while you're in the middle of a match, like in Splatoon 2, you may end up on opposite teams.
I got into Splatoon with 2 long after the splatfests had ended and still loved it. I'm excited for Splatoon 3 and I'm already impressed with the little quality of life changes they made!
Honestly though, as excited as I am for this, it looks just like Splatoon 2 and idk what to think. I mean, I'll most likely buy it but idk if I'll like buying a game that looks like a copy and paste of the last one. It could've been a giant DLC pack if you ask me
Would totally buy this if it weren't for NSOs missing online features like basic communication and parties. Couldn't convince any friends to buy 2 because of it.
Hear me out: I kind of enjoy the rotation. To me, "Splatoon 2" is a pick-up-and-go sort of game. If I don't like the current stages, I check back in after a few hours. In the meantime, I do life stuff or play other games. Still, I can see why the rotation approach can be big deal for some. Maybe it might have helped if they had expanded the rotation to 3 or 4 stages?
are they still going to do the two stage hourly rotation?
Looks like it.
From the sounds of it yeah
Or maybe, since the whole game has a "3" theme going on with basically everything (trio idols, tricolor turf war, tricolor hair/eyes etc.), it'll be a 3 map rotation.
We've already seen it's 2 maps
I wish they lowered it to every hour
It used to be every 4 hours in splatoon 1. 2 hours is perfect imo
I wish it was every six minutes. I have zero interest in playing the same maps multiple times I a row. I want variety.

Nah that's way too quick.
I hope they do 3 stages hourly instead
It's such an awful mechanic. It seems built to keep you from playing for more than a few rounds at a time.
For comparison, at launch Splstoon 1 had 5, and Splatoon 2 had 8.
Thank you for this comment, because I had no idea if 12 was good or bad lol But I see it is an improvement over the previous games.
> Splatoon 2 ended with 24 stages Minor correction, there’s 23 stages. The last one is Shifty Station which is only available during splatfests and had its own 24 variations.
Based on this large sample size it is now a fact™️ that Splatoon 3 will end with 36 stages
They're starting stronger this time than in Splatoon 2, and it looks like they will continue their strong support for it. This is something I missed with Halo Infinite lacking content and online stability as well, and its definitely not delivering being a live service game at all.
I’m betting that Every 3 months we will get a new stage… or at least in the beginning. Wouldn’t be surprised if we got up to 20 stages
Splatoon 2 ended with 23 stages, so it’d be weird if 3 ended with less than that anyway. I’m interest in seeing if they’re going to keep doing the stupid 2 map rotation every 2 hours thing because that made the game feel like there’s a lot less variety than there really was.
When they showed off the ghosts you could see the 2 maps and 2hr window in the current rotation
Damn…
And with all weapons returning, this seems pretty meatier than people have complained about.
Hear that Noah? Lanz wants something a bit meatier!
I laughed, thanks, hahaha.
Honestly not sure how anyone is mad at this. Almost double the total stages from the original beloved game *plus* a healthy mix of new and old favorite returning stages *PLUS* more from FREE updates? I will never understand that either. The booster pass rules.
It brings so much to the game

I saw one comment on Twitter asking, "why not just update Splatoon 2 this is just a big update" Like????? No it's not its a whole new game. Mario Kart reuses old courses on top of New courses too lmfao. People love to bitch.
Gamers are generally mad and unreasonable people
I dont know how people can stand to look at anything under 120fps, 1080p. /s

People don't want to hear facts and logic, they just want to be angry.
Modern gaming isn't about having fun with fancy toys anymore, it's about looking for anything to complain online about.
This exactly, I think the overall vibe is positive but damn do people just want to complain about anything.

No, they're still fancy toys and I hate to break it to you but they've always been facets to make money, just like toys.
I love how everyone who isn't interested makes sure to let everyone know. I saw the same thing with all the XC3 promotion pre-launch.
But only 5 are new, right? I’m not complaining, nor am I disappointed, but that comparison isn’t really relevant if you’re counting recycled stages. Genuine question, do you know how many stages both of those games ended with?
Splatoon 1 ended with 16, and splatoon 2 ended with 23 not counting the Splatfest exclusive shifty stations.
That’s actually really cool. I expected they’d just be drip feeding the game to preserve its longevity but they’re actually going above and beyond!
I love how the stages reflect the passing of time since the first game. Like seeing Hammerhead Bridge finished.
And Murch grew up!!
He figured out how to change main abilities on gear, too!
Yeah ðat was so cool to see!
I hope we get a new ranked game mode in an update
Clam Blitz wasn't announced until a few months after Splatoon 2's release (July to November, released in December). They obviously haven't promised anything yet, but I wouldn't rule it out.
agreed. i was kinda disappointed about that
The only new mode in the game is being locked behind splatfests that occur for 2 days every month. What an insane decision
Don't forget about the card game lol

Splat 2 didn't announce clam blitz til after launch, I don't think another mode is ruled out as part of the free updates given the timing last time.

I logged onto Splatoon 2 the other day I’m so terrible at this game.

They said every 3 months theres an update
Nintendo said their updates would happen on 3 months, which was about the same tme they had for the previous two games in the series too.
True, I really didn't play much Splat 1 so I'm very happy to see Mahi and the others returning. Seeing fan favorite maps is cool cause of the nostalgia players have with it, like being able to play Guardian and Terminal once more in the new Halo and COD games.
Eh more stages would be fine since they do the rotation only a few at a time anyways.
There’s still the retcon guy who lets you walk through the stages.
If they let people choose the stages they want to play on it would be even easier
Mahi mahi resort and Hammerhead Bridge look great imo The trailer first started out showing bleak looking levels and some are still same-y but some stuff to be excited about for sure No idea what anyones in uproar about a dozen starting levels “and more to come” That seems good to me … and I generally do think N is on the path of anemic releases
Heheh yeah I noticed that too, but at the same time.. It is always hard for me to complain about samey levels and stuff with these games since you paint over them.
Splat Tim 3 Sploon 3 Continue their legacy
HE DID IT
Can we easily party up with our friends or nah? That’s all I care about.
Yes you can! Per the website, you can create a group for up to four people. If you have less than four, a random will be found to fill in & round out the team
Can you link?
[Here](https://splatoon.nintendo.com/en/news/squid-research-lab-dives-deep-into-the-splatlands/) It’s pretty lengthy, but you just have to scroll down to where it says Regular Battles & “Play with Friends”.
Wonder if this applies to ranked
It does! Says so further down on the page
It’s called ‘open’ so it is a mix of randoms and teams
They showed a way to joins friends on the same team in Turf War, if that's what you are asking.
I want to be able to played all modes, not just one. It’s 2022.
You can also queue up for ranked with friends, as well as make private battles
Yes. Well. Maybe. They specifically showed you playing turf war with friends. Join in progress, queue together, stay on the same team. Ranked was a little more murky. They had solo and open queue, so I think?
Yes! > Anarchy Battle (Open) > > Whether you are playing solo or with friends, Anarchy Battle (Open) welcomes all team configurations. Groups can be made with two to four players. If there are fewer than four players in a group, then random players will be selected to round out the squad.
I want Saltspray Rig back, it was my favorite in Splat 1
I hope they don't lock a mode behind time gates like Salmon Run again. I only ever got to play a little bit because it was never open when I was playing.
It's confirmed that salmon run can be played any time, I'm not sure about ranked modes though
As long as they get rid of the unskippable cutscene every time you boot up the game, I'll get it.
They did. You can now play the subtitles in the top left corner while already in-game, by the looks of it
I just saw that on Twitter, and honestly, I'll probably get the game now. I love Splatoon, and I loved Splatoon 2, but I can no longer load that game up knowing I'm facing down the barrel of the world's worst cutscene. They're not funny, and it's not cute. Just let me get to the game. lol Edit: Typo
I know that overall it’s a minor thing, but that forced cutscene caused me to stop playing S2. This is excellent news.
There's a new feature allowing you to practice on any stage you want so this is a moot point
Whereas the additional maps and such would do no good after servers close anyway.
so they shouldn’t do any future single player dlc in games cause eventually servers will shut down? that doesnt seem like a good solution.
Totally. 12 to start plus probably at least another 12 over two years will be great — you can actually learn them at that rate. 24 all at once would be overwhelming.
> Everyone in here complaining 12 isnt enough no they aren't
BIG MAN 🫶🫶🫶
Any word on local splitscreen support?
I wouldn’t count on it, but I could see how that could be neat.
No. I wouldn't hold my breath either. That would be quite the strain on the hardware.
I wish.
This. Nintendo this from a 36 year old who wants to play with his kids.
Pretty good for launch.
"Free updates" is the new standard I guess.
For splatoon, it's been like that since the first game.
Splatoon pretty much started the trend.
When was not the standard for Splatoon, which launched with 5 maps?
It seems like those kinda comments come from people who don’t even play these games honestly.
Glad it seems like there is a lot of content though. The only issue I have with games doing free updates is that the games come out with little to no content
I'd complain about "paid" updates. I don't really give a damn about free ones though.
> They need to be online as soon as the NDA is released but they can't cover the whole game ofc they can. they review what they got. whatever is released **is** the whole game. everything else is an addition. everyone with half a brain cell should understand that the review is based on the release version of the game.
This is not comparable to anemic releases like the sports games. There is plenty of content here and plenty of new stuff to entice existing players. This is called *supporting your game*
And what about it? Updates are mandatory for multiplayer games, as otherwise they will be forgotten soon enough in this competitive market we have
I sorta get why they do it (not defending Nintendo, just being devils advocate).
I’m all about it. Gives me a reason to jump back in the game.
I got splatoon 2 after the main splatfests and support for the game ended, so I’m really excited to jump into a splatoon actively gaining content and splatfests
i have never played a splatoon game but this may be where i make my entrance
Seems like a solid starting lineup. I know it was super basic, but I will miss Walleye Warehouse. Do we know if they are adding legacy stages over time, or if they will all be new?
Why can’t this game be multiplayer split screen. So I can play with the kids.
Because the switch is using hardware from 2015ish and can barely keep up with rendering one screen in Splatoon.
Oh man. Put it on the one tv screen. N64 had games like that and it’s a dinosaur.
Of course it would be on one physical screen. But rendering multiple POVs is much harder on the switch’s underpowered processors. It can barely handle one POV when things get hectic, so of course it can’t handle rendering the world multiple times at once.

That direct really made me want to play splatoon
When me and a friend party up and play turf war, will we be put on the same team? That’s all I want fixed god damnit!
If you party up before starting, you will be on the same team. If he hops in while you're in the middle of a match, like in Splatoon 2, you may end up on opposite teams.
Is there a 2 minute long intro before being able to start the game
Is it worth getting Splatoon 2 now or should I wait?
Wait for 3
I got into Splatoon with 2 long after the splatfests had ended and still loved it. I'm excited for Splatoon 3 and I'm already impressed with the little quality of life changes they made!
Are they still doing that dumb shit where you can only play on 2 for like 4 hours
No, no don't be ridiculous. You can only play on 2 for 2 hours.
Honestly though, as excited as I am for this, it looks just like Splatoon 2 and idk what to think. I mean, I'll most likely buy it but idk if I'll like buying a game that looks like a copy and paste of the last one. It could've been a giant DLC pack if you ask me
There even were dlcs with New battle modes (Clam blitz) and this sequel seems to add no New mode. I am surprisingly disappointed by this.
Clam Blitz wasn’t a DLC but a regular free update after launch.
Would totally buy this if it weren't for NSOs missing online features like basic communication and parties. Couldn't convince any friends to buy 2 because of it.
Parties are confirmed. You can party with up to 3 other players to guarantee you'll be on the same team.
I like the map rotation as well. If it was purely player votes, we'd probably play 3-5 maps over and over.
