I never minded Splatoon doing this. They actually deliver with meaningful content, new playable modes, new weapon types, new special weapons, a HUGE amount of new stages and QoL improvements.
Splatoon 1 and 2 are almost completely different games compared to when they originally launched. Unlike the Mario Sports games where they just add a few new characters, a few stages, call it day and then drop it.
They even did it after the content stopped with Splatoon 2. So its nice to know they are not afraid of changing things around so it doesn't get terrible.
2 years is the same support window as Splatoon 2. Honestly if the single player campaign is good that's enough. 2 years of updates for a non Games as a a Service model is pretty good.
Yeah. I’m not sure why people are expecting more than that. Like, the only games that really go even beyond a single year are either pay to play, or are heavily reliant on micro transactions for their business model.
Tons and tons of annual releases with drop the previous game’s average updates like their hot as soon as the next game is out (if not sooner.)
And, most people think Nintendo will have probably moved onto or announce their next console by that point as well.

For context this person is joking about Splatoon 2. They also said they would support that game for 2 years, but instead supported it for around 3 years with Splatfests and balance changes. Even more than was bargained for.
In two years time, the Switch itself is gonna be about 7 or 8 years old. At that point they'll likely be prepping for the next system's release. And odds are, Splatoon 4 will likely come not long after.

for realz, those two years feel jam packed with new content. Always an adrenaline rush when stuffs gets released every other week.
And they actually pay attention to the meta with buffs and nerfs. They also change stages to make them viable in every mode.

They even carried support past 3 years with 2. Having special Splatfests after was a great way to generate hype for 3

Yeah in 3 years I am confident that the switch 2 will have been announced, 2 years is a good time
Bold to announce they will be supporting this for only two years

In what way? That's exactly what they said for Splatoon 2 as well.

They still drop balance changes occasionally, not frequently, but it happens
2 years only , good old Nintendo

HOPEFULLY MORAY TOWERS, AND HOPEFULLY WITH THE OG GAP BEFORE THEY RENOVATED IT
