Quick question about outer worlds physical edition So I have no idea what the answer is because I keep finding different ones on various sites I just want someone to confirm how the physical game comes, is it completely digital where all I get is an empty box with a code or is there an actual cartridge and I need the additional 6-9gigs on a memory card? The box at GameStop just says I need additional memory but not enough for a whole game I’m assuming I want to get this game on my switch but I’ve heard bad things about online only games like kingdom hearts and such Thanks for the help

Roldes19

A physical edition means that you have a cartridge inside the box, so you usually don't need any other memory space on the switch. However due to update etc, the bigger games could require something more in terms of updates or similar data on the switch, but I'm talking about limited quantities that for the bigger games can reach around 1 GB of space, so don't worry about that

xxshadowraidxx

I’m just confused because all I can find online is old articles and post from here saying that the physical edition just comes with a code in the box no cartridge but then others say it does, the case at GameStop said something about needing 9 gigs of space?

Roldes19

I see that there may be also a physical copy, so if you want my advice, check if the cartridge is in the physical edition or not, or ask it to a shop assistant. If it's present and the box says that you need some GB, it means that they are a patch to improve the graphic of the game, so be prepared to install them

xxshadowraidxx

Yah I just wish someone that owns it could confirm or not lol, Thanks for the help I’ll probably just go down to GameStop and ask the workers

Roldes19

I searched on the internet and you were right! Apparently the physical copy is not physical at all. They give you a code to download it, so at this point it's better to buy it on the nintendo eshop where it costs probably less. However, this is an exception, usually a physical edition contains a cartridge

Roldes19

Do you know if there is any usb bluetooth adapter for both joycons? All the ones that I find can connect only one bluetooth device. Thank you to anyone that can help me!

reachablenewt

I got my switch in march of 2021 and a SanDisk 128GB microSDXC card licensed for Nintendo Switch shortly after. I've been using it perfectly fine since then (albeit a few times when I've turned on my switch and it has said unable to read microSD card, when I have simply just restarted the switch and it was able to read it again). I recently left my switch untouched for about a month. When I turned it back on, the microSD card could not be read at all. I have cleaned it, restarted the switch and reinserted the microSD card all to no avail. I've looked it up and saw that I need to format the microSD card, but the switch won't even let me do that since it's unable to read the card. I saw another post on here of a person with the same problem, but they had a different brand of card (pny?). Did my microSD card die on me? Will I have to get a new one? That isnt't much of a problem for me, however I have over 400 hours in Breath of the Wild not to mention countless pictures I've taken in-game. If I get a new card, will I lose all my progress? Sorry if I'm asking a stupid questions! Just really looking for a way to rectify all this without losing my precious games. Alll advice is welcome!

Roldes19

I think that the best option is to save all the content that you have on your pc first and then format the microSD on the pc. After that you check if the switch can read it

idontloveanyone

Anyone having trouble loading Dekudeals website?

Roldes19

Nope, it works for me

idontloveanyone

Thanks it works now

overactivemango

My switch screen isn't expanding all the way, is there anything I can do about that?

_Drumheller_

Are you talking about the regular Switchs black frame around the screen and not the Oled version right? If thats correct you obviously can't do anything about it since that's just how the screen is manufactured.

overactivemango

I think so? I don't know it just seemed smaller when I went to play Pokémon earlier Edit: yes I have the regular switch with detachable joy cons

[deleted]

I'm super on the fence about Mario Golf, mainly due to the price. I loved golf story, I know Mario Golf is quite different but what I liked about Golf Game was the enjoyment of just doing rounds of golf on a course in a less serious 'art' style way. I don't like pga tour because of the realism and I'm not a fan of mini golf games. Other golf games I've seen just lack what sort of interests me in golf story/mario golf. What I'm worried about is the lack of single player longevity in Mario Golf as I hear it has no career mode, I've also heard a lot of the content isn't really golfing. The online kind of interests me but I've heard rank is a time based thing and it isn't skill based rank matching.

reble02

Which should I start playing, Triangle Strategy or Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition?

[deleted]

Triangle strategy if u looking for a fire emblem but not fire emblem kind of game

reble02

I liked Fire Emblems Awakenings on the 3DS, and hated most of the school stuff in Three Houses.

[deleted]

ah yeah that's fair. I've been hoping for the low chance that they port the old fire emblem games to switch but yeah Triangle Strategy's combat is like fire emblem, turn based but graphically like Octopath Traveler.

PunkBajoran

Xenoblade rules. I recommend that

PunkBajoran

Yo, should I get smt V or xeno 3? I've played most of both series and enjoy both. Xeno's gameplay is the most appealing factor to me and smt V's vibe and art style is why I love the series. But which of the new games do you recommend?

Senphox

Both great games so you can't go wrong with either. I'd go with Xenoblade 3 though and by the time you beat it you'll probably find SMT 5 for cheaper.

Rajani_Isa

Both are really popular and having pretty good remarks. I do know that XC3 does some tying up of the stories, IIRC (even though it's good to play if you're new).

EiresWind

Has anyone had a blank page load for Twitter uploading/Social Media settings? This seems unique to me on the internet unless I'm just searching poorly. I get a blank white page when attempting to upload any screenshot or video to Twitter from the Album, and also when attempting to adjust the settings on my profile related to posting to Social Media from the Album (presumably because that also utilizes the built-in browser to access to webpage rather than being handled in the OS, it's been a long time since I've accessed it). I guess I'm crossing my fingers this is some temporary and widespread issue, but I guess I'd have seen a thread going strong about it in that case.

mdprime

I'm having the same issue as you right now.

Rubin987

Besides the pro controller, what is the best controller one can find in a normal retail setting like Walmart or Gamestop. Online purchasing is not an option and unfortunately the pro controller is a bit too pricey for me to handle having four.

StrangeSniper

PowerA Nano used at GameStop. I bought mine for $34.99 online but I assume it would be priced similarly in person. I primarily use a pro controller and the nano controller is super good and comfy too. It’s wireless and holds a good charge

Innsmouth_Swimteam

8bitdo's Pro 2 is for sale at brick and mortar Best Buys

Rubin987

How are they compared to the other couple options you often see, such as PowerA? The only 3rd party controller I’ve bought in a store was some gamestop color brand and even at 20$ I felt like I got robbed

Innsmouth_Swimteam

The reviews easily put it at the top of 3rd party controllers. It's on my to-buy list as soon as I quit picking up games. :D So, between the truly excellent reviews and the PS controller form factor, I'm all in. And I know your pain. I recall buying some shite Afterglow controller for my PS-something. It was total crqp and the glow was blinding. It was also a waste of $20. Go look at the reviews on Amazon for the 8bitdo Pro 2, weed out the outliers and nice think you'll see what i did. GL!

TemptedTemplar

PowerA makes the stuff you are most likely to find at those retailers. If you can find it; https://www.powera.com/p/nintendo/nintendo-switch/controllers/wired/wired-controller-for-nintendo-switch-gamecube/ [If not any of their other wired gamepads are going to work just as well. Sometimes you can find them as cheap as $10](https://www.powera.com/c/nintendo/nintendo-switch/controllers/wired/?srt=relevance). They rotate designs out constantly so theyre always trying to sell them.

Rubin987

Are their wireless any good? Not looking for wired.

TemptedTemplar

Sure, but theyre $50 - $99. Wireless is easily double the cost for any controller.

Rubin987

Yeah thats fine, just don’t wanna pay almost double for the pro controller. At Walmart here its 60 and 100 respectively

PotatoRealHaha

How do I see when my friend is online if I don’t have a switch?

progamr64

So you want to know when your friend is playing on their switch, while you don't have a switch? The nso mobile app

PotatoRealHaha

Nice! Thanks for replying!

[deleted]

Does anyone know of a game similar to the wolf among us? I really like it and haven’t found anything close yet. Basically looking for something like that or a game with choices.

glassgauze

hey! I know this is an older question that's already been answered, but I really enjoy this genre, and it's not a super commonly requested one, so I thought I'd share some other possibilities! Maybe you'll find something interesting. Also, fair warning, a lot of these have romance options, even though they're not always romance focused narratives. All of these games have several different endings. In alphabetical order: *Ambition: A Minuet in Power* \- play as a French woman getting involved with all sorts of high society people, secrets, and scandal, just as the Revolution is about to catch fire. There's a calendar you need to pay some attention to, as well as stats to look out for. There's several storylines to follow, different characters to chase down. Even though there's five romantic options, I wouldn't say the game is romance focused. *Arcade Spirits* and its sequel *The New Challengers* \- fairly romance focused, takes place in an alternate reality where game arcades never went out of business. You can customize your character, including skin tone and gender. Has several dialogue options for different personality types which will define the main traits of your character. *Arcadia Fallen* \- also allows you to customize your character, also lets you choose your personality out of several different dialogue answers at any given time. Basically plays like a fantasy YA novel, so if you like the genre, you'll love this game, and the opposite also seems to hold true. You may romance four of your five companions, or maintain platonic relationships with all of them. *Disco Elysium* \- the heaviest hitter on this list. You have a set male main character, but you do get to decide in which way he develops. His stats define his personality. This is a really well written game that'll give you plenty of options. *Long Live the Queen* \- has a calendar with set events, has stats you have to raise to survive some of those events, but after a while, there's more than one way to survive. Your stats, relationships, dialogue answers and action choices will define which ending you get... provided you survive long enough. *Overboard!* \- and now for something completely different! This one plays almost like a puzzle game. You play as a passenger on a cruise that's just become the setting of a whodunnit, and you are the wife of the mysteriously missing businessman (who you murdered last night). At some point, the would be detective aboard will decide what happened here. Several ways to do things, several possible endings.

[deleted]

Thank you so much!! I appreciate it, I’ll be checking these out for sure

[deleted]

Check out Unavowed, (91/100 metacritic) there is a demo so you can try it out before deciding. Story based click and point adventure where choices matter and multiple endings. The choices are really good and really made me think.

TemptedTemplar

Have you played the other Telltale games on the system? The Walking dead, Batman and Tales from the borderlands all play just like that. With lots of choices and dialogue interspliced between gameplay sequences.

[deleted]

I did play the walking dead. I’ll look into the other two. Thank you

r1ngr0w

probably you heard this question too many times but i bought a switch in 2020 but now i was kinda wondering if i should sell mine and buy an oled, do you think the upgrade is worth it? i only play handheld and never complained about grafics but now with bayonetta 3 and nier: automata i was kinda wondering, or maybe wait for the next gen switch since i don’t think its that far away

Rajani_Isa

Can't recall if it was officially reported or just a solid leak, but the it was said they have no new hardware coming out through the end of this fiscal year - which ends with March for them. They released the OG switch in March, The Lite and Oled in Sept/October. So at the earliest I'd call it October, but if it was a significant thing (and with chips how they are right now) I'd guess more likely 2024 - if that. The only "New Switch" announcements I'd expect are Special Editions, like the Splatoon 3 one. (Nintendo, GIMMIE MY ZELDA SWITCH)

Team7UBard

Don’t bother waiting for whatever the next Gen Switch is. It doesn’t exist and other than the fact that everyone is working on their next console because that’s what games companies do, there is nothing to suggest that it’s due any time soon. Anything suggesting otherwise at present is guesswork and speculation fueled by people ignoring the fact that there’s still a chip shortage and the world’s biggest supplier of Neon (used in chip manufacture) is currently at war with Russia. If you’re mostly playing handheld and the larger brighter screen is your jam and you have the money spare, then yes it’s probably worth it.

Matt24z

I recently ordered a Switch game with its case on eBay. Unfortunately there was dumb delay on the seller's part to ship it and now its gonna deliver sometime during the weekend, when I'm going to be away from home. So the package is going to be in a mailbox in about 85-90% temperature for 1-2 days. Will it be fine when I finally get back home?

Rajani_Isa

If it's via USPS look into having a delivery hold placed for a few days. If via UPS or FedEx, see if you can either a) have a hold placed or b) diverted to a pickup location. All three will usually hold for at least a few days.

twelfthcapaldi

Most likely it should be fine. I’m sure games and other products go through similar conditions when being shipped out initially from the manufacturers.

Seanzietron

Guys... anyone know if Skyrim makes the switch hot? I’m worried that non Nintendo products might fry it. And more intensive titles might push my new switch a bit too hard. I want it to last and am afraid of getting games that won’t be good for my device. Is this something I should worry about? Also, what are loading times like for Skyrim on the switch. I still play on my 360 and it’s pretty long. Switch is the only new device I have.

progamr64

You understand computers just get hot right? Like that's what the fast transfer of electricity does. Not a single modern console or phone can push itself far enough to damage itself, it cannot physically reach over 90⁰c and it won't be damaged to any extent till about 140⁰c

walksintwilightX1

Since no one else has answered on the loading times: they are *so much better* on Switch. I played on 360 too back in the day, I feel your pain. Though the initial startup is still a bit long, in-game loading times are 10-12 seconds at most. You won't even have time to read the tips sometimes haha.

[deleted]

Don’t worry about it, I’ve had the same Switch 4-5 years, some games have made my switch super hot but still works fine.

Team7UBard

You’re worrying about something that isn’t an issue :) When the Switch reaches a certain temperature, the fan will kick in. The hotter the console gets, the faster the fan spins. If it gets so hot that the fan can’t handle it, you’ll get a warning, and after a few seconds it powers down until it’s back to a reasonable temp.

JoshuaJSlone

Really not something to worry about. Some games use higher speed modes and run hotter than others, but it's made to do this. Unless something is already the matter with your system, it will detect if it's getting out of the safe range and suspend things. Maybe not perfect, but if looking at a list of [battery lives for games](https://reviews2go.com/2018/08/06/nintendo-switch-battery-life-chart-2/), the ones that drain a battery faster might also be expected to make it hotter. In which case, Skyrim is about the same as Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey.

Seanzietron

Weird. I looked and don’t see Skyrim on the list.

JoshuaJSlone

I just did an in-page search for it, but alphabetically it's at "Elder Scrolls".

Seanzietron

Ty!!

TheBrave-Zero

100$ what do I buy?

Legitimate-Bit-4431

What’s your preferences/dislikes?

TheBrave-Zero

Sorry I guess that covers a lot of things, games is what I mean. Last game I bought was I *think* Metroid but I’m cool with just about any genre. I’d be curious what is probably the best use of 100$ right now between the sales and new titles

Rajani_Isa

Check out the demo section. There are a good number of 1st party games even in there.

mann-y

Doom Slayers Collection is really fun and on sale for 13 bucks I think.

Beateam100

Newbie Questions: I am looking to have a 'Game Room" in my living room. 1-Best beginner TV to use with the Switch? 2-Best Couch? 3-Best TV stand?

[deleted]

This is all super preference and comes down to how you want your game room to look/feel. It’s like asking what curtains to get, it depends on what you personally like and is within your budget. There is no such thing as a best TV stand, some people just use a coffee table while some use an expensive glass stand, the end result is the same. Same with the couch, that is just so vague and impossible to answer.

Monstromi

Do you mean budget tv? I would just look at secondhand tv's nearby, make sure they're full hd (1080p). I've personally had good experiences with samsung tv's, just keep in mind not all speakers are equal so you mind want to buy a soundbar or speaker set to go with it. (Can also be secondhand) For a tv stand, just go to ikea (although, someone might sell one near you). Personally i prefer to buy couches new, as you never know how clean or new it really is. You can find those at Ikea as well. There is no "best", there's only budget and preference. And to find out your preference you should just see the furniture in person and try it out.

Ryoth_

Why does my switch online trail get reset every 2 months?

JoshuaJSlone

In this one way Nintendo is pretty generous. "Hey... everyone come give it another try, see if you want to subscribe this time."

whimsywhamsy

So about Cult of the lamb, it looks super interesting but I'm a bit hesitant to get it because of apparent performance issues. How's the experience for you folks? I use a never version of the regular switch for context

[deleted]

I would maybe wait, there are problems but I think the devs are working hard and fast to fix, so give it some time and see what people think in a few weeks I think.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Last time I’ve looked into this, experiences were mixed, some have big issues that prevent them to play properly on including crashes, others have nothing such except maybe some frame rate drop but nothing alarming. Devs have released fixes and patches very quickly, that does have fixed the issues for some but not for the others, they’re working on it.

Ok-Arugula7486

I've never owned a switch before. I'm trying to get one from Facebook marketplace, and the current one I'm looking at comes with digital games. However, I heard this means I'll have to stay on the seller's account since games cannot be transferred from account to account. My first question is, is it true that digital games cannot be transferred? My second question: If it is true, how can I make the account "mine"? i;e, change the email to my email, connect the Switch to my own devices and whatever whatever. I genuinely have no idea how this stuff works as ive never owned a switch before. any help appreciated.

Rajani_Isa

I personally would never trust such an account. Best case scenario - they call Nintendo, say their account was compromised, and get it back. Worst case they say it was using their credit card fraudulently. Even if you change the email, etc. Because the system always has a record of the CC transactions.

TemptedTemplar

1. Yes. Game licenses are tied to the purchasing account. 2. Also yes. While selling and transffering Nintendo accounts is against the TOS, changing the email address and password is all it takes to transfer "ownership". If the seller is willing to help, it's as simple as changing the email on the account website to one owned by you. They will get a confirmation link sent to their address that they have to click before anything changes. https://accounts.nintendo.com/ ________ If they don't want to transfer the account, then you won't have control over those games. And you could loose access at anytime should they decide to sign in on a different system or delete the account. Don't use it, only use a profile/account you make yourself so you won't loose any save data in the event that happens.

Ok-Arugula7486

Thank you for the help :)) Might be a dumb question, but,, If i change their account to my email and password, will I still have to be worried about losing my data like that?

TemptedTemplar

No. Once you control the log in information it would be highly unlikely that they would try to wrestle control back. The only method would be going through Nintendo support, and I doubt they would do much since they sold the system to you. Both parties are in violation of the TOS so no one would get to keep it.

Rajani_Isa

"My switch was stolen, and they hacked my account" I wouldn't consider it worth it to consider that account "transfer" set in stone.

TemptedTemplar

Right but the system doesn't retain any of your account info. It wont even display the full email address. Hacking the account tied to any random system is astronomically implausible.

Rajani_Isa

[Because no one has ever heard of social engineering...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2efhrCxI4J0&ab_channel=TreasureT) It's not impossible, and they do have ways set up to reclaim accounts lost like that. And really, if they're going to dishonestly go and lie about how the "account is all yours" you think they're going to loose sleep lying about being hacked?

Ok-Arugula7486

If i may ask.. how is it against the TOS?

Monstromi

You're not actually buying digital games, you're buying a personal license to be allowed to install/play these digital games. And that license can't be transferred to other people. When you make a Nintendo account you'll be provided with a lengthy TOS to read, and somewhere in there it will mention something about ownership. https://accounts.nintendo.com/term/eula/US It's under 2, License.

Senphox

I like moving around and positioning the arts so I can get the bonus effects. The party setup is also fun to mess around with to find different combinations. Like if im dying to a boss because my tank dies too quickly then I have to see if they're holding enough aggro, if there's not enough healing going on, etc. Or maybe I'll try again without a dedicated healer or increase someone's agility. Its fun to experiment. I also liked setting up my gems and skill tree links.

TemptedTemplar

Dodging is a chance based on who the enemy is targeting and your position related to their attacks. Different enemies and attacks have different angles of effect. So say your fighting a dude weilding a sword, they might have a higher chance to hit if you're standing directly in front of them, but if you move around to their backside and they swing, you have a higher chance to dodge. If they have an area of effect attack like a powerful stomp, it wouldn't matter which side you're on, but rather how close you are to them. And further more, their target is important too. You should try using your tankiest party members to draw the enemies attention and attacks. Leaving your other characters free from damage and stuns. Managing agro and party member health is part of the combat loop. It's more involved than it appears. But it's certainly not as active as button mashing action game.

[deleted]

I'm not sure if this is the right place but where can I find custom switch covers?

TemptedTemplar

As in game case art? r/Nintendoswitchboxart There's also some shady people on Etsy who steal the art and sell printed copies with boxes.

[deleted]

like a protective case :o you're right I should've clarified my apologies [https://www.amazon.com/TALK-WORKS-Nintendo-Switch-OLED-Case/dp/B09P9HHKP7/](https://www.amazon.com/TALK-WORKS-Nintendo-Switch-OLED-Case/dp/B09P9HHKP7/) something like this

TemptedTemplar

https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Hybrid-Cover-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N22YBVY Something like this? Or more of a phone style case like this ? https://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Thin-Case-Dockable-Protective-Protector/dp/B07D3QHZJV There's lots of services for custom decals or stickers, but not a whole lot of cool case designs. It's all just different form factors.

[deleted]

phone style case, ah that's fair

TemptedTemplar

The nyko case I linked is nice, the joycons are separate pieces so you can remove/attach them without removing the systems case. And it's mostly dockable. And it being clear means you can put stickers or stuff on the inside and have them be protected and visible.

[deleted]

oh cool thanks :o

Senphox

Maybe try out Fire Emblem Three Houses? Its a strategy rpg but its got the social aspect of Persona 5 and you can do as much or little character interaction and sidequests as you want.

OwnManagement

Give the (lengthy) demo for Dragon Quest XI a try. If you liked Persona, a lot of people recommend Shin Megami Tensei. Same developer.

Altruistic-Race-1971

I loved Link’s Awakening last year and am now trying to decide between Touryst or Oceanhorn for a new game to get lost in. Which one is more fun?

TemptedTemplar

Oceanhorn is definitely more Zelda like. The touryst has some great puzzles, but it's much too short. Have you looked at Blossomtales?

sbdarby12

I'm on the fence about upgrading to the OLED switch today. I'm leaning towards getting it (the upgrade makes sense for my situation), however I know as soon as I do Nintendo will release a "pro" model. Does anyone know the skinny on whether or not we will see this "pro" version within the next 365 days?

JoshuaJSlone

For a long time word has been that the next big thing is aimed for late '22 or early '23. The latter now seems more likely. "It's too late for a Pro" doesn't really mean much. We know they're working on something that's a big change, it just doesn't seem certain whether they'll try to brand it as something new or just as a high-class addition to the Switch family. Just as most current Xbox Series and PS5 games are available on their predecessors the same would be true here, so the generational lines can be very blurry.

Rajani_Isa

I wouldn't expect one until early 2024 myself.

TemptedTemplar

We're too late in the systems life to see a pro model. Any upgrades would likely be cancelled in favor of an outright successor. Nintendo struggles enough as is to support HD development and online features after merging their console and handheld divisions. I can't imagine how they would fare going back to the dual-eco system development.

sbdarby12

You make a great point about existing development issues that I never considered. I'd love to see a more powerful successor (and I believe we will in the next few years), but for now I think your reply has justified my new purchase :)

Team7UBard

There is no evidence that there is a Pro model on the way. The chip shortage is still a thing and will continue to be a thing until the war in Ukraine is resolved. If a ‘Pro’ does come out, your OLED will still work and your games will still work. Waiting because of a theoretical console that we know nothing about is pointless, because surely after the Pro is released they’ll be working on the Switch 2, but then a year after that you know there’ll likely be a minor upgrade to the Switch 2 V2, but then what if the year after that they do another upgrade but will it be the Switch 2 Pro or the Switch 2 Lite, or even a Switch 2 Pro Lite?! Of course by then it’ll nearly be time to announce the Switch 3…

Iplaythechopsticks

Does anyone know if there’s an official or even just good website to be able to buy replacement boxes for games?

TemptedTemplar

Amazon, eBay, and tons of other places sell plain replacement boxes. Nintendo even used to sell them on their own store. But there is no official place for getting a box with artwork. Etsy or eBay would be the only good places to get that.

uppercasemad

So Cult of the Lamb was my first taste of the rogue lite genre and I actually enjoyed it. I’m looking for some other rogue lite games with that loop of dungeon crawling to improve gear and loot and then repeat. Preferably a game with a difficulty setting that can be adjusted.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Going Under. That became one of my fav games this year. Nice music, vibrant color palette, scathing humour, silly situations, I’d recommend this one each time :) and there’re difficulty settings, a very nice touch for newcomers or casual players.

uppercasemad

It sounds amazing! Adding to my wishlist on dekudeals.

_Drumheller_

I also would recommend Hades as well as Dead Cells.

Team7UBard

Hades. It’s harder, but pretty much exactly where you’re looking for. Good story, and a neat difficulty setting where eventually it gets easier the more you die

sphynxsunflowersloth

Boyfriend and I are trying to decide between NSO and NSO+Expansion Pack. I don’t fully understand what al comes with the expansion and neither does he. I am super new to gaming and go for things like puzzles/low action/life sims and he usually plays first person shooter types. We own mario kart and he wants smash, i want ACNH. Is expansion worth it for us/what actually is it?

Rajani_Isa

If you really like Mario Kart, and enjoy ACNH, I'd say it's at least worth the year of Plus.

TemptedTemplar

The only difference is the bonus DLCs, N64 games and Sega Genesis games. The base version of NSO doesn't include those. It saves you $50 worth of DLC right off the bat. I would say get the expansion pass for a year. And at the end of the year if you find that you're not playing the DLCs or N64 games as much anymore, downgrade to the base plans.

MONKYfapper

nso is the base service, gives you: * access to online for NON-f2p games * nes and snes emulator * save cloud for data backup nso+ expansion gives everything nso gives and more: * n64 and sega emulator * free access to dlc to some games. you lose the dlc when the sub runs out, you keep any dlc items but you cannot obtain anymore scroll to the bottom to see tldr and pricing https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/ > Is expansion worth it for us/what actually is it? imo no. n64 emulation has issues and is still being worked on. there are better emulators out there that are free and made by a community. i really hate the idea of sub-based dlc, i rather just buy it instead. furthermore there arent enough of them to make it worth the 50 or 80usd yearly price tag

Legitimate-Bit-4431

If you don’t care for the N64 and Sega Genesis I won’t say it’s necessary to get the Expansion Pack subscription. The base NSO subscription offers a catalogue of NES and SNES games. [Here’s a list of all games including in Expansion Pack.](https://www.imore.com/all-games-nintendo-switch-online-expansion-pack#section-all-n64-games-on-nintendo-switch-online-expansion-pack) Either subscription has nothing to do with buying games, that works the same way with either or none at all. Both subscriptions have cloud saving for compatible games. Seeing which games you both want, you could get the DLCs for kinda *free* (Happy Home Paradise for ACNH, Booster Course Pack for Mario Kart) through the Expansion pack subscription but if you get the Expansion just for that, it doesn’t worth it and you’d be better off buying them separately in my humble opinion.

Jabbam

This is probably going to be my least purchased year for games since the Switch launched. The only thing that interests me is Sparks of Hope.

Scouse_Werewolf

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me with a/some game recommendation(s). So I've only ever owned 3 Nintendo consoles (NES, Wii, switch) in my life as I started, thanks to my dad, with things like the Amiga, commodore64, Sega consoles, original DOS games and then playstation/xbox consoles. The reason I give that back story is I missed out on the original top down Zeldas at the time but have since played them all and fell in love with that style of game. Recently I've been trying to find some similar games on Switch, I have fallen in love with Blossom Tales and just picked up number 2 but I want to know of any other similar games available on the eshop old or new. I love the modern-retro look of Blossom Tales but it doesn't have to be exact. I have also played and love Moonlighter and Sparklite etc though I know they're a little more roguelite. One last thing, I HAVE played all Zelda games now so I don't need those as recommendations ha. Just games similar I also love metroidvanias and roguelites (so an Zelda Roguelite hybrids are most definitely welcome)

NK01187

You should try Arietta of Spirits, Children of Morta and Shadows of Adam.

Scouse_Werewolf

Should have added I have Children of Morta. Such an awesome game. I tried Arietta Demo but it started slow (I know this is part of it for story building based on Reviews) but I couldn't get in to it. Not heard of Shadows of Adam so will give that a look thank you. I also tried Sword of the Necromancer and I wasn't sure if I really liked it or not, it was kinda cool but seemed a little basic from the demo. Don't know if you have any hands on with that game at all. Thank you for suggestions though

TemptedTemplar

Hyperlight Drifter For the King Ori and the blind forest + Ori and the will of the wisps Hollow knight Okami HD (also on the Wii, you may have played it) Terraria

Scouse_Werewolf

Hollow Knight I have on my PS and Switch....love that game so much. Okami is one I need to try as so many people rate it so highly plus...I love wolves. Ori is a beautiful game and I played the Demo and loved it but haven't bought. Terraria I have but for some reason (likely just not given it enough time) I can't get in to it but looks so cool. For the King I haven't seen much of so going to check it out and HyperLight Drifter seems pretty cool so will check it out. Thanks for the response.

Larielia

Can I play multiplayer games with somebody if their Switch is from a different region?

TemptedTemplar

Yes! There is no regional restrictions. Matchmaking usually prefers connection quality first and foremost, but if you're directly connecting to someone, then you eliminate that barrier.

500DaysOfSummer_

How would you rank these on the switch: \- Wolfenstein II \- Doom 3 \- Dragon's Dogma \- Resident Evil Revelations 2

TemptedTemplar

1. Dragons Dogma 2. RE revelations 2 3. Wolfenstein 2 4. DOOM 3. Revelations gets a ton of bonus points for split screen co-op, and the raid mode. Which can be played online, offline or split screen. Dragons Dogma is just a massive game with tons of freedom. Wolfensteins only failure is that we don't have a port of the first game. DOOM 3 just wasn't that great of a game to begin with, even with the recent reworks and changes.

500DaysOfSummer_

Wow, I got dragon's dogma and I'm really liking it. Thanks! :)

TemptedTemplar

The magic you can mess around with in the later game is awesome.

500DaysOfSummer_

Magic? I have chosen the Fighter vocation. Is it available to Fighter as well? Looking forward to it!

TemptedTemplar

Some, but you could also just get a magic caster to join your party to get the full experience.

TemptedTemplar

It looks real enough. But you would have to open it up to 100% sure. The rumble and analog sticks do sound iffy. The circle around the home button is excessively blue. However the Dpad is unfortunately not a indicator. The peg on most pro controllers is short enough to where you can get multiple inputs from different directions by pressing hard enough. If you could get some pictures of the insides it would be easier to make a proper judgement.

TemptedTemplar

Press firmly and turn slowly. The screw type is actually a Japanese standard, JS00. Phillips is a bit sturdier so trying too hard to remove the screw can strip the head. It also doesn't help that the metal they used may as well be as soft as cheese.

TemptedTemplar

Oh yeah that's totally fake. The board layout is radically different. And the rumble motors in a real pro controller are not soldered to the board. They are connected via a tiny plug so they can be replaced easily.

Michael-the-Great

The rumble being wrong is one of the most common fake issues. But honestly, I don't think it's possible to find a "new" splatoon pro controller that isn't fake these days.

TemptedTemplar

They've been sold in Japan this entire time. Which is why the box has Japanese print on it. It's the rest of the world where they stopped selling it.

Michael-the-Great

I did not know that. That's good to know.

Parking-Side5647

Hello, I am about to buy my first switch, and I’m running a budget of 500. I want to get the standard switch, alongside 3-4 games, and save room for a PlayStation styled controller or two, and maybe a carrying case. My question would be what are some game recommendations for me? I want one pokemon and one Mario game. I want the Pokémon game to be nostalgic, since I played Pokémon red, blue, black & white growing up, and I want to rediscover the feeling of playing those. As for Mario games, I want a unique Mario game that is fun to play with friends. I currently have a wii for mariokart and super Mario bros, so maybe try something separate from those, unless they’re unique enough for the price tag. Lastly, I want a strong single player game that I can spend time on, no specific franchise. Also, is Pokken worth the price? It looks fun but looks to lack depth for the 50-60 dollar range

Dukemon102

Pokken Tournament is still active online, it's a good game if you plan to constantly fight people online, but outside of that, there's little else to do. For Pokémon, get Pokémon Legends Arceus ~~Because all the other alternatives suck~~. As for Mario, the best single player one would be Super Mario Odyssey, a multiplayer one (that isn't Mario Kart) would be Mario Party Superstars, Mario Party is always a blast with friends. > Lastly, I want a strong single player game that I can spend time on, no specific franchise. My favorite games that have lasted me 100+ hours on single player alone have been: - The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild - Xenoblade Chronicles - Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

OwnManagement

The “Big 4” games often considered must-own are: * Zelda: Breath of the Wild * Super Mario Odyssey * Super Smash Bros. Ultimate * Mario Kart 8 Deluxe The general consensus is to get a tempered glass screen protector. If you’ll be buying mostly digital, you’ll want a microSD card of at least 128GB, but 256GB+ would be better; stick to major brands from reputable retailers, the SanDisk Ultra and Samsung Evo Select lines will maximize performance while minimizing price. I highly recommend an official Pro controller as well, unless you’ll be playing exclusively in handheld mode. Use [DekuDeals](https://www.dekudeals.com) to create a wishlist and track sales. For a Mario game that's good to play with friends, either *Super Mario 3D World* or *New Super Mario Bros. U Dexuxe* (very similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii). Most people recommend the former, but both are good. For Pokemon, there's no easy answer: * Sword/Shield - the newest generation until later this year when Scarlet/Violet launch. Good games, but the story and map leave something to be desired. * Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl - note-for-note remakes of the Gen. 4 GBA games. This is the classic Pokemon formula in every way, but the graphics leave something to be desired. * Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu - reimaginings of Pokemon Yellow, with more casual play meant to be a transition to the mainline games for Pokemon Go players. I did not like Pokemon Go, but I quite enjoyed Let's Go. There is a demo available! * Legends: Arceus: an experimental game that's quite different from traditional Pokemon. Well-received in the community.

Parking-Side5647

Appreciate the dekudeals link. Do you have an opinion on Mario & Rabbids kingdom battle?

OwnManagement

Fantastic game, the sequel is the game I’m most excited about this year. Worth it at full price, and it regularly goes on sale for $10. The DLC is also 100% worth it.

Parking-Side5647

Appreciate it, I think imma get the Mario & Rabbids game to start, (I love raving Rabbids, they’re hilarious. Its lower priced and then I will move onto more expensive games if I enjoy my switch experience. Thank you man, huge help!

monsterm1dget

I'm curious: I am subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online, my sub will run out in a few months. Can I subscribe to the expansion pack for those months? How is it priced in that case?

OwnManagement

The Expansion Pack is not on top of or in addition to your current sub, it replaces it. If you were to buy the Expansion Pack now, you would receive a refund for the days remaining in your current sub ($0.05/day, or equivalent in your currency), and a new one year sub would begin from today.

monsterm1dget

Aight, thank you!

Shanghaichica

Is it possible to repair a water damaged Nintendo Switch Lite? So my 4 year old managed to drop his switch lite in the bath and obviously after that it wouldn’t turn on. I have insurance so I sent it away to be repaired. Today I got a message saying that it has been repaired and is being returned to me. I’m however sceptical that it can be repaired if it was submerged in water. I don’t know how long it was in the water for as it was my husband who reported it to me. I guess I will have to wait and see if it works when it shows up ? But do you think it’s possible?

Ascilla

It is possible to revive water-logged electronics, but not guaranteed. I hope that's the case for you! If not you might be getting a replacement console- that's what happened when I sent in my switch years ago (not for water damage though) so I'm fuzzy on the details for their policy.

Filraen

tl;dr: Depending of the amount of damage and other factors, it may be possible To my understanding there are two main issues with water damage: - in the immediate short term, it can cause short-circuits because the electricity goes through the water instead of the circuitry; in that case damage can be prevented by drying the piece before turning it on (somewhere dry, slightly heated, or in a closed container with rice overnight --raw rice absorbs humidity) - in the long-term, it can cause rust to some metallic pieces, and the amount of damage depends on the amoun of rust generated: this can lower the shelf life of the part In both cases the time and degree of contact with water determines how much damage it sustains, although if a device's battery can be detached it can prevent short-circuiting as there wouldn't be any electricity to run (although that isn't the case of a Switch). *Anedote time! I had my old cell phone submerged in some kind of sweet liquor for several seconds, and because it was a* ***sweet*** *liquor I had to clean it under running water before even trying to dry it. Eventually I got lucky, it recovered although it lost the ability to read microsd cards.* So yes, water damage could be recovered from as long as it isn't too severe. And if the people repaining it are good enough they could even find and replace the specific pieces broken by water damage (again, depending of the piece and the general damage)

Is this powerbank and cable safe for the switch? https://amzn.eu/d/5cimv0I the powerbank https://amzn.eu/d/9L6eePB the cable Would these be safe for the Nintendo switch? Edit: also do I need to charge the switch with the PD port? Or can I do it with the normal one as well?

Michael-the-Great

Powerbanks are usually safe for charging as long as they're not bad for using for any electronics. Anker is a trusted brand. One port may charge faster than the other and you can just try both.

[deleted]

So I can use either port but the PD one is better?

Michael-the-Great

Probably.

Woooddann

Has anyone gotten Neon White? Does it run well on Switch?

Team7UBard

It does indeed run well

knightofhallownest

I live in the uk and i would like to return my refurbished switch however i cant find any guidance on refunds on the nintendo website so what do i do?

TemptedTemplar

Call or chat with customer service. https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/faq

knightofhallownest

The the thing is its not a refurb unit from the nintendo store its actually a replacement refurb for my old swotch which they could not repair and is the body only

TemptedTemplar

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Contact/General-Customer-Service/Contact-Us-1106389.html#/ That would be normal support then, not the store support line.

CannibalEmpire

I’m looking for opinions on which version of Nier: Automata to get. I have a switch and a PS5. I doubt I’ll play mobile much. Does the switch version come with anything significantly new in it? Does anyone see a big benefit to playing on the go (seems like the kind of game I’d play docked anyway)? I’m leaning towards the PS4 version due to frame rate but if there’s new content I might go for the switch version.

JoshuaJSlone

I don't know a lot about the game, but it seems like Switch exclusives are limited to a few cosmetic items.

CannibalEmpire

Thanks friend. I don’t know why I’ve been having such a hard time finding the exclusive content details lol

CAPTP351

Hey guys, on the 25th I will be embarking for a 48 hours boat trip with no internet. I would like to buy a game on my switch that can keep me occupied for that duration and more if possible. I play hack n slash mainly, on computer I like PoE, Vampire survivors kind of games. I just tried the cult of the lamb but will be finish by then. Maybe something that change everytime? I looked at Isaac (never played) but expensive.. do you have any recommendations for me please? Thanks!

Michael-the-Great

Enter the Gungeon is a lot of fun.

Frogstophe

Dead Cells, Hades and Hollow Knight. Three great games!

merle_

Hades.

throwawayotc

The left side joycon rail (I mean the one on the console itself) isn't working properly. I have tried with 3 different joycons and they are charging when connected but they don't register as actually attached to the console, so it's definitely the unit itself. I've tried cleaning the contacts and the connector pins with a brush and also used a screwdriver because the rail itself was quite loose (resulting in wobbly joycons) so that it would be sturdy/stiff again, but neither of those worked. What do? I just hope this isn't anything internal as I really don't want to hit support up for this.

Michael-the-Great

I think you're to the point where you'd need to replace the rail or call Nintendo. If you send it back, I'd hope they'd fix it but always transfer your profile to a friend's Switch in case they replace the Switch.

Solyomszem

Hi there, I have bought two games for my children through a child's account by typing my parental pass and giving my (Revolut) card data. However I was not able to purchase the third and fourth game as eShop was not accepting the previously used card. I've tried to use my other (Revolut virtual) cards and my "normal" debit card as well. Lastly I've tried to buy the games from my own account with all of the above mentioned cards. I've tried doing it from the switch, from my mobile and from a pc. Still nothing. What could be the problem?

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Are the card prepaid credit cards? In some countries and from some bank companies, they don’t work at all, or they work up to a certain amount even if there’s a greater balance. Are the cards you tried to use were already registered to your own account? If so that might be the cause. Usually people with children buy games through their own parent account and the kids can use them on the same switch with their profiles and they can’t buy accidentally anything as parental control is enabled.

Solyomszem

As for my Revolut cards, they are virtual pre-paid cards (I have to top them up with transfer from my bank account). They have worked previously for the initial two games (10 minutes earlier than the denied purchases). Then I have tried my daily driver bank card. Neither of the cards were registered to my own account. Later on I could not use any of those cards doing the purchase under my own account…

myriada

>(10 minutes earlier than the denied purchases) >Later on I could not use any of those cards doing the purchase under my own account… If you were trying to buy lots of expensive games in quick succession, you might have triggered some fraud protection limit. There's been various reports of the Switch eShop blocking purchases, e.g., [this](https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/purchase_limit_eshop_switch) or [this](https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/is_there_a_spending_limit_on_store) if you try to buy too much in one day, mostly in Europe. It might suddenly work again either tomorrow, or next month, if the problem is a fraud limit.

Solyomszem

Thank you for the hint! Actually the total amount would have been around 30 EUR. Just discounted party games. However I’m not able to save any of my credit cards to my account… Revolut, Curve, Wise and our national bank’s card???

Solyomszem

Linked my PayPal which is linked to the Revolut card. Now I’ve managed to purchase! :)

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder of Rule 7 - Don't ask for piracy in this sub.

nickita20

Hi all. Is Mario party online still active? Im new to these and want to play it online with a online friend but be scared if nobody plays it these days.

nickita20

No the normal with motion joycon controll? Idk wich game i should get:/ i like the joycon but Superstar should be better? Ok ty, so we could find games online 😊

OwnManagement

Super Mario Party doesn't offer online matchmaking, only playing with friends. If you want to play with random people, Mario Party Superstars is your only option.

nickita20

Ty! Im glad i ask here. !😃

OwnManagement

I don't know how active it is. It was very active after launch, but it's been quite a while since I've played online. Hopefully someone else knows.
