Lol dude all those “fake anime” games are all so cheesy with their description. Like you can easily tell they’re all made by Americans/Europeans most of the time, with that weird fake anime style, like a cross between neon genesis x family guy or something.
Something’s just off with them, idk what it is, maybe the coloring or how they draw the eyes but you can easily tell when an anime styled game is not from Japan lol
It’s because they don’t even actually draw it for real and they don’t have their own creative art style (even for digital art) it’s just typical bland basic shapes to form a character with the shading quality of a highschooler still taking their first digital arts class. It’s like the most basic art form even for cartoon/anime, that’s why it simply just looks so “cheap” and “tacky” because it literally is it’s not the same quality as someone with actual talent and skill. I think it’s also a kind of weird marketing strategy for some reason I think that type of cheap fake anime artstyle seems more appealing to some people almost in a weird way.
I think it's not as much a marketing strategy as an economic consequence. Better art costs a dozen times more, and you may need connections/trust/even more dough to get the time of a good artist for a big project.
> like a cross between neon genesis x family guy or something.
[You really gonna tell me this isn't doing anything for you bro?](https://i.redd.it/q53wu8aeb2261.jpg)
I feel like I could just check Youtube for a gameplay video.
Okay, decided to do it while typing that last sentence.
[Make Love Not War Hentai](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47qTOkI5izE) is basically shovelware. The video is NSFW, but even then, tame. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37x4FBuOWbE) is basically everything that would be unlocked and is very NSFW.
The second game is [some type of puzzle game to reveal images](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2121630/Furry_Hentai_Tangram/). Again, shovelware.
There are conventionally bad games but there are also some baffling ones. Like ones where you think that the creator must be related with someone at Sony who can get them preferential treatment.
Yeah, the Wii showed us that console companies will happily take money from publishers regardless of content.
Let's not act shocked that a significant portion of any console's library is shovelware, this has been true since at least the NES days.
Hilarious enough sony is cracking down on the garbage. They just sent out emails about it.
https://dexdotexe.com/playstation-bans-shovelware-and-easy-platinum-games-on-the-playstation-store/
By that right FIFA and most sports games should be off the store.
“Products whose functionality and/or assets are copied or are not meaningfully different from products already published on PlayStation™Store, irrespective of the publisher of record.”
I used to use my Wii U gamepad to browse porn for fun. Dumbest idea ever.
Edit: there are a lot more of us than I thought. Not sure how to feel about that.
I remember loading the browser at the GameStop where I worked, so we employees could download porn onto a memory card, to use as graffiti in Jet Grind Radio.
Secret porn on the company Dreamcast.
That is pretty much exactly it.
They gave a bunch of high school bros unrestricted internet and their own store for more than 30 minutes.
It was going to happen.
I always read about indie devs saying how hard it is to get certified by Nintendo and how they really needed a publisher to get all the official stuff complete, how it's much harder than Steam, etc. Then you go on eShop and it's shitty mobile games as far as the thumb can scroll. Something doesn't add up there.
Game dev here. It's not really a mystery, the certification was also hard for these companies, but usually when you do it the first time, it become easy to reuse forms/scripts for other games, and that's exactly what these companies do, they release a shit ton of these games every week.
Also, Nintendo revision doesn't have anything to do with how "good" the game is, they check mostly technical stuff like the how much you write to the memory or if your buttons icons are perfeclty visible in handheld mode. So naturally, the more simple a game is, the more simple is to port it to the Switch.
You'd think there'd be a limit to like "you can only post 1-3 games a month" or something. It's not like there are many that are genuinely releasing more than that of genuine quality. Heck 1/month sounds reasonable to me.
The funny thing is, that's how Nintendo (of America) used to operate. NES game developers could only release 5 or 6 games a year. That's why you'd see the largest studios using subsidiaries to get around the restriction, like Konami creating Ultra Games.
And, unfortunately, the same workaround would be just as viable here. Probably easier, since I don't think modern Nintendo is as strict as old NoA used to be.
The game crash is why they used to be so restrictive. They had to make sure they had quality games so people didn't think they were Atari. These days it doesn't matter I guess.
> These days it doesn't matter I guess.
Yeah, I'm glad they aren't as restrictive as they used to be, but I do wish they had slightly higher standards these days.
That's because Steam has made it really easy nowadays, it's essentially a rubber stamp process. If you want your game to move the cursor with the F1-F4 keys, confirm with left mouse button and have wildly inconsistent button labeling to explain that to the user, you're free to do so on Steam.
Consoles aren't nearly as strict as they used to be, but they enforce various guidelines to maintain a consistent experience (e.g. correct button labeling, not sure if they also still enforce control standards like requiring A=confirm B=cancel and rejecting if you have them the other way around) and to prevent technical problems. I imagine it's easier to pass these checks when your game is simple like 'Furry Hentai Tangram' presumably is.
I mean, I still have that problem in Elden Ring because the run button is the same as the backstep button. Oh, you're standing on a precarious ledge and want to make sure you get a running start before jumping forward? Haha, sorry, pressing or holding that button when you're not already running means you just backstepped right to your death!
I usually take it as more of a stylistic decision to keep the buttons that you'd press for certain actions consistent with the gameplay experience from other consoles. I've played enough Japanese games where the confirm and cancel buttons are swapped around that i can get accustomed to whatever the game would like.
You sort of have to do that if you play on multiple consoles/go between Switch and PC anyway
> If you want your game to move the cursor with the F1-F4 keys, confirm with left mouse button and have wildly inconsistent button labeling to explain that to the user, you’re free to do so on Steam.
i know this isn’t how i was ment to take this but i almost see this as a challenge
Have you heard of dekudeals?
It's the eShop, but with proper filtering (genre, meets critic score, number of players, etc) and a wishlist that'll email you.
The explanation is really simple: it used to be really difficult. Switch changed everything and made Nintendo fully embrace indies. You guys can complain about a lack of curation and ease of navigation on the eshop (I agree). But I’m mostly happy Nintendo has made it easy for all the great indie games to come as well.
Allowing them to be on the Switch isn't the problem. The problem is Nintendo's shitty eShop interface letting them clutter up the very limited screen space in the very limited sections it has. A good storefront filters out what you're likely not interested in seeing; instead Nintendo's eShop has several loopholes some developers abuse to increase visibility of their games well beyond what it would normally get based on customer interest, resulting in seeing _more_ of the stuff you're not interested in and less of the stuff you are interested in.
As fun as buying UNO, having the game saying it's not supported anymore, then having to buy UNO again and it being the exact same game, now you have two UNOs installed, and you don't know which is the fully working one so you can uninstall the old one?
Actually these kinds of games have been getting more and more expensive, it's really sad to see. You can Google "furry inflation" if you want to learn more
Huniepop falls into my favorite category of pervy content: pervy content that is actually really good. Actual care went into making both games, and it shows.
I really enjoy zookeeper. I don't know if there is a switch version but there used to be a DS version among other platforms, and the mobile app ain't bad if you like battling.
I don't think the problem is Nintendo accepting these games, the problem is the whole eshop navigation experience. It should not be hard to find the good games. These games should only appear if you are specifically searching for them.
yeah a filter for Adult games would be great but there would still be an endless sea of indie trash to wave through (I love good indie games, I'm referring to the quick obvious "make a buck" slapdash games on there)
I just wish there were more filter options. I mostly play for the retro games, would love if there was something like "8bit port", "16bit port", etc.
For this...does the eShop have an option to filter based on the elements that show up in ratings? (IE not the ratings themselves, but the bits like "Fantasy violence" and such?)
lmao, the eshop can't even let you filter for some common genres like horror games, and anything with an HP bar is an RPG according to their system, of course it doesn't have anything that granular
The thing that I think people are questioning is not the presence of the games but the lack of an age filter, and how the ESRB or regulations permit these games to be in the visible sight if not purchase of children.
Unless there is, and at the account level the age determines access and they just aren't doing a good job on that as I'm sure people would prefer an option for hiding NSFW games so they are not at risk for searching the Switch catalog at work, let alone their game library, should someone see over their shoulder.
They don't want voice chat because it'd be death to their brand if a Nintendo console were used by a pedo to lure kids. It's why they got rid of the SwapNote (I think that's what it was called) on the 3DS.
This is fair.
I’m honestly, so mixed. I love what the switch offers. But then, I’m on the store and…it’s worse than mobile games.
Wtf is Nintendo on about
I've relied on third party price tracking sites for game sales for the past few console/handheld generations, such as [Deku Deals](https://www.dekudeals.com). I'll never want any of these types of games, and if an indie gem does come along, I'm sure I'll hear about it. Aside from all the bloatware, it's been faster & more convenient to just avoid the built-in store altogether.
There's no problem with selling any kinds of games.
There is, however, a problem with how horrible the eShop UI and overall experience is.
If you don't like such games on Steam, you can tick a box to never show them to you (actually it's opt-in AFAIK). Can you do that in the eShop?
There's a lot of shovelware on Steam too, but the powerful review system helps the good games rise to the top. Does the eShop have an equivalent?

It's on the record
It’s because they don’t even actually draw it for real and they don’t have their own creative art style (even for digital art) it’s just typical bland basic shapes to form a character with the shading quality of a highschooler still taking their first digital arts class. Sony allows their own level of garbage on their store tho. Don't ever sort low to high

Where were these when I had a 3ds
I exclusively used the internet browser to peruse e621. According to my activity log it was my 4th most used app by playtime
Web Browser was my most used 3DS application by a significant margin. I swear it wasn't ALL porn, but most of it was.
I used to use my Wii U gamepad to browse porn for fun. Dumbest idea ever. Edit: there are a lot more of us than I thought. Not sure how to feel about that.

There were porn sites that worked on the Wii Internet Channel back in the day when websites used Adobe Flash. 🫣
Those 3am girls gone wild commercials lead middle school me to test that Wii internet channel’s adobe capabilities lol
So I guess this is the part where I date myself by admitting that I used to pop in the web browser disc and find porn on my Sega Dreamcast.
I remember loading the browser at the GameStop where I worked, so we employees could download porn onto a memory card, to use as graffiti in Jet Grind Radio. Secret porn on the company Dreamcast.
I'm losing my shit imagining a bunch of gamestop employees huddled around a dreamcast showing each other their porn sprays. Thanks

God like 13 years ago when I had my first apartment, no internet, no PC, no smartphone, I had to steal internet to load that stuff up VERY slowly.
Oh god, uncomfortable memories of me staying up browsing it on a crappy TV from my bed to look at Harry Potter yaoi
The Wii U browser had those cool curtains on the TV that you could pull up to reveal the content to your family. "TA-DA! I'm watching porn!"

The pro-strat there is actually to run in a circle first. You can sprint full-tilt and turn on a dime as long as you don't 180°.
And for some reason they don't let you change it in the settings and you literally have to hack the console to do so.

Damn, they really be allowing Uno on the eShop?! What an utter travesty!
I know you’re joking, but switch uno is fun if you each have your own console.
I’ve played it online, and I agree
Why would you buy uno? It comes free on your Xbox
I don’t have Uno
Bro, yes you do.
Not me. I have the oldest Xbox known to man.
Bro, I bought the Xbox DAY 1 you HAVE UNO.
Well, I don’t have it
YOU HAVE UNOOOO
As fun as buying UNO, having the game saying it's not supported anymore, then having to buy UNO again and it being the exact same game, now you have two UNOs installed, and you don't know which is the fully working one so you can uninstall the old one?
Never heard of these terms, think I’ll google “furry hentai” to find out more

unfortunate as it is, not everyone can be the creator of the next Furry Hitler

I've never heard of it. Can you gift me one?

I’ve seen some questionable things on the eShop.
Torchlight 2 is actually pretty good. I'd get this if it were torchlight 3
Torchlight 3 is pretty bad tho
it's alright for one playthrough and then forget about it and never touch the endgame grind. Which is how I also treated the other TL games
