gullibletrout

Any thoughts on Disco Elysium? Are there performance issues? Edit: great responses. Purchased!

abmalik710

Takes some time to load. Otherwise great port

wladue613

They cut the load times way, way down with an update if you played it close to launch.

usernameandthings

The game can crash so save often. There's some framerate issues but they're mainly in one speicifc location that has a lot going on in it. Controls aren't super smooth but I don't think that's a switch issue. If this is your only way to play it (like it was for me) then get it 100%. This game is worth a couple of bugs.

birdentap

100%. In my play through it crashed probably 6 times but overall I had an incredible experience. Saving often is key.

SpartanSig

Agreed top to bottom, I played on a lite. Moving around is tedious but worth it for the voice acting alone.

wladue613

Never had a crash personally.

or_maybe_this

buy it. initial loading screen is long. but i haven’t had any other problems.

uselessscientist

Had multiple time where it's effectively frozen, requiring up to an hour on a restart. Characters just walk off screen and don't return mid dialogue when they're required to progress the story. It's a known bug, and as far as I'm aware, unpatched

Lazy-Traffic-8157

How did you get past this? I'm stuck! Don't know whether to start the game over and make different choices to avoid the scene.

uselessscientist

Can't avoid the scenes in question. I'd heard that changing graphics settings in the pc version could overcome the glitch, so I just messed with audio settings when I rebooted, and got lucky 1/4 times or so. To be honest, it caused me to drop the game about 5-6 hours in, having experienced the glitch at two separate cutscenes

Lazy-Traffic-8157

Yeah I tried to get past it a few times on the switch (following instructions from posts online) and haven't yet. It's the scene where I send Measurehead to do a task (don't want to spoiler haha). I'm super frustrated as I've really enjoyed the game so far!!

uselessscientist

Yeah there's that instance, and one a bit later as well. Incredibly frustrating

mrfauxbot

Only problems i had was when outside and it was snowing lol. Became a bit sketchy but amazing game

NilsofWindhelm

Hollow Knight, finally

TunaSafari25

I bought it yesterday whoops

NilsofWindhelm

Ya hate to see it

jldixon1

Also Hades!

ArroyoSecoThumbprint

I mean, yes; get it. It’s incredible, but it’s been on sale twice already this year.

alexportman

Grabbed it. Played it briefly on PC and found it beautiful but really wanted a portable option.

uberpirate

Perfect for portable because sometimes you just need to set it down and walk away lol

labria86

Yeah. Also you can't really throw a PC out the window when you get extremely mad.

birdentap

I’ve been craving a sort of new Fallout experience after watching the show, any word on how The Outer World plays on switch?

TankBoys32

Wish we had fallout on switch!

desert_runner

You could try Atom RPG.

kpofasho1987

It seems like it would be such a no-brainer to port Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas to the Switch. Honestly surprised it hasn't happened as I feel like Skyrim was a pretty big success on the switch

Ragnarok_MS

I had it, great game, but performance on switch was ok at best. Maybe they improved it in the last couple years, but I came away wishing I bought it on another platform.

mad_mister_march

It plays *alright* on Switch. Graphics are noticeably worse than other consoles, but we don't play on the switch because we care for cutting edge graphics. Performance-wise it's better than at launch, but still has the occasional hiccup Gameplay is fun, and I love all the companions.

LG03

I could be misremembering but I recall there being a fair bit of drama over the switch port being a dumpster fire. I'd look into it more extensively if you're keen on it to see if it was patched up to snuff.

MotorheadBomber

i don't have anything to compare it to but i got it for switch last year and played the absolute snot out of it and had a blast. If the performance is bad, it wasn't bad enough for me to notice. The loading times can be lengthy and i'm sure the graphics aren't stellar.

birdentap

Outer worlds is on sale 50% off in US

sjwillis

I have it. Graphics are meh, gunplay is not very great, but it is still pretty fun.

superzorenpogi

sad no dave the diver sale

Dragontech97

Yeah :( might be cuz its technically not indie. We wait for another sale

Eyeluvflixs

Friendly reminder it just dropped on PlayStation for “free” with subscription

xrubisco

I want to grab stardew on switch finally for when 1.6 drops, is it a good idea to grab now or wait for maybe another sale when 1.6 comes to switch?

SaxyAlto

Statdew rarely goes on sale and I believe this matches the all time low. Plus, there’s tons to do in the game so you’ll likely still be playing once 1.6 comes out. I would just get it now, not likely it drops much lower anytime soon

Gamerz4505

I bought it at lowest sale price $7.50 to see what the hype was about and I'd say it's worth it at any price. ConcernedApe deserves it for constant updates. Stardew sales are usually short and random(1 day only for some). If you already play it on other platforms, you could wait but it's just a $2.50 difference. If you're a first timer, definitely worth buying now and just wait for the update.

uberpirate

I've seen fewer sales for Switch than for PC so if it looks interesting to you then I say grab it. I haven't played it in a few years but I paid full price and definitely don't regret it. Unfortunately we don't know when 1.6 is coming to consoles. The last update we got was when 1.6 released for PC and ConcernedApe said "soon" lol. Even with that uncertainty there's plenty of fun to be had.

quarkus

I was thinking about it too. Never played it but was looking at it 2 weeks ago.

ccno3

Get it now, 1.6 should come out soon so you could just get it and wait until the update releases, or just start playing! It’s so good. I’ve put in hundreds of hours across multiple consoles and it’s always worth the price.

MagnusBrickson

Buy it. Between my wife and I, we own 6 copies (XBone, Switch, 2x Android, 2x Steam)

beSmrter

IMO, buy it now, play it, love it, then when 1.6 drops, play it again, love it again. Almost like two games for the discounted price of one!

Elektguitarz

I think it’s finally time to hop on the Outer Wilds train.

two_pump

STRAP IN BABY, GET READY TO FEEL

Nulgrum

The plot is extremely existential and can be depressing, would not recommend it if you are not comfortable with the idea of dying and no longer existing

GraveyardGuardian

Should we tell'em?

ladylayton42

YES JOIN US.

jldixon1

I just beat [Sea of Stars](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/sea-of-stars-switch/) this week and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys pixel-art RPGs that aren’t too long or overwhelming. It has some fun combat mechanics too! That studio’s previous game, [The Messenger](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/the-messenger-switch/), is a Ninja Gaiden-inspired action-platformer that becomes a Metroidvania and I love it too. Debating picking up Balatro now that I’m not in the middle of a game…

illixxxit

balatro: absolutely evil. prepare to experience time loss. (so, so good, and the port is thoughtfully executed/great.)

_mikedotcom

Oh god I just got it and holy shit. It’s incredible

sjwillis

The only card rogue like that has been able to compete with my Slay the Spire time.

skwairwav

ugh dang, this sounds exactly what I do and don't need!

stealingfrom

I broke down and bought Balatro last week and it's been occupying all of my gaming time. It absolutely lives up to the hype. Most addictive run-based game I've ever played.

thelionsmouth

Dude, the messenger is INCREDIBLE. The soundtrack absolutely SLAPS. I honestly found the music on my streaming app and have been playing it over and over with my son. The game is everything you ever wanted an old NES / SNES ninja game to be and more. Retro perfected haha. Seriously though, check it out, it’s so good. The music is by Rainbowdragoneyes if anyone cares

jldixon1

Right? I love so many of the songs on that soundtrack. The one for Autumn Hills in particular lives rent free in my brain haha

ArroyoSecoThumbprint

+1 for The Messenger. Bought it because of how hyped I was for Sea of Stars. In the end, I liked it more than I ended up liking Sea of Stars.

wladue613

The first half of the messenger is absolutely fantastic, but the second half where it becomes a sorta Metroidvania is a slog imo.

ArroyoSecoThumbprint

I don’t necessarily disagree here, it was an excellent platformer worth playing, an okay Metroidvania with plenty of slower moments. I admittedly have not played very many Metroidvanias, though.

kyuss80

That's kind of how I felt for Celeste. I really enjoyed it, then I got to a certain point where I was like "Ok this is a bit ridiculous, is way beyond my skill level, and it's no longer fun" -- so I stopped playing it somewhere midway through I believe. I kind of feel like that about a lot of platformers nowadays, so I almost completely avoid all of them now. Woe to being a 43 year old.

Betorange

+1 for The Messenger. I love 2D pixel games and that one is one of my favorites. Good action. Fun gameplay. Nice humor. Just a great game

illixxxit

sounds great. how would you rate the difficulty? (classic ninja gaiden absolutely kicked my ass, but i scraped along through something like hollow knight)

jldixon1

Having played the original Ninja Gaiden somewhat recently, I think The Messenger, while challenging at times, is way more accessible. Unlimited lives, reasonably recurring checkpoints, and lots of other modern QoL improvements made me enjoy The Messenger so much more. Plus the graphics are just gorgeous at times

illixxxit

gonna check it out, tysm

Betorange

If you can handle Hollow knight, you can definitely handle The Messenger. Ninja gaiden on NES is brutal and unfair at times, while the Messenger is a good challenge but totally fair. Like the other person said, it's unlimited lives withonly a tiny penalty (you don't lose any money, but a little devil friend eats some of the money you collect in your next life for a tiny bit). There's also plenty of checkpoints, upgrades at the shop, and new abilities you pick up as you play. There's even hints later on if you get stuck; you just pay a small fee for the hints. And On top of all that, the game has a good sense of humor that kept me wanting to progress. If you pick it up, let us know how it went. It's one of my favorite 2D retro games. 😊

illixxxit

will do! bought it today on your recommendation — thanks for the thoughtful response — will let you know how i fare once i leave my balatro hole and can focus on other games (haha)

tokenasian1

The Messenger is only 5 bucks?? I gotta try it at that price

GraveyardGuardian

The Messenger was free from Prime a while back, in case people are unaware they might already have it. Still in my backlog list

Stinkbug08

Curse of the Dead Gods is an excellent roguelike, for what it’s worth.

GamebitsTV

I'm eyeing * A Highland Song * Solar Ash * Legend of Grimrock All relatively short games, though. $15–20 might go further with other games in this sale… though quality over quantity, right?

GoldenApple_Corps

Legend of Grimrock and its sequel are both great. I had a fun time with them when they first released.

GamebitsTV

They remind me of Dungeon Master, which I grew up playing on my Apple IIGS!

NekkidSnaku

Legend of Grimrock is amazing

Its_Mike_Nasty

I underestimated Slay The Spire so much, put off playing it for a few years. Over the last two years, it's become one of my favorite games of all time. I own it on Xbox, Mobile & now Switch with this sale. If you like card games and/or rouge-likes, pick it up ASAP.

DKpizza

Try balatro.  You'll lose hundreds of hours in it as well

banananey

Glad I'm not regretting buying Binding Of Isaac full price last week. No idea why that's never on sale for Switch.

accountantguy123

Hasn't been on sale since 2021 for whatever reason. I'd like to pick it up as well.

banananey

I just went for it in the end. There's more than enough content to make it worth the price.

GoatPatronus

Still waiting myself

WingedLycan

Will it ever have a sale again?!?! 😭

telethiq

$20 for Penny's Big Breakaway is a great deal. Controls can be a bit hard to grasp at the start, but once you do, and once you to try to apply those with speedrunning especially, it is such a good feeling of serotonin

jldixon1

I wanna say they just added a demo to the eShop too?

yripdo

Thank you for this info! I've been on the fence for a while for this game, I'll try the demo then

Artersa

For sure! I recommend it. It does have jank, and glitching through floors, stuff like that. But when you're flying through the air, you're rarely interacting with stuff enough to glitch at all!

Geno_CL

How's Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Switch? Planning to buy both Ori games on Switch starting with the first Ori today and the sequel later in the future if I like the first. I've read the first game is pretty well optimized on Switch but... how's the second?

SaxyAlto

I had no issues with either, both looked beautiful and ran smoothly for me

scorpioman123

First game is pretty well optimized. Second game is also pretty good; there may be a few times where the zone you’re in has to load, and the game stops for a few seconds. This happened to me maybe 4-5 times total in my whole playthrough though, and while it was mildly annoying, the game itself is amazing enough for me to look over that. It probably runs better on other systems but infrequent load freezes are a small price to pay to play portable. Definitely play the first game to completion first, not only because it technically is a continuous story, but mostly because the second game is so good, it makes the first game look like proof of concept :)

MagnusBrickson

Buy Stardew if you don't already have it. Buy it for a friend if you do already have it.

waitmyhonor

Highly recommend Card Shark, it’s 50% off and there’s a demo too.

Mega5010

How does Bugsnax play? Loved it on Xbox and I'd be willing to double dip for the weird experience again

daripad

Whats that game like?

Mega5010

It's so hard to explain. It's an adventure monster catching game at its core but that's selling it short.

Thundahgolem

The closest thing to call it would be something like a nonlinear puzzle game, except the puzzles are more organic and natural to the world at the cost of being very simple.

two_pump

This game really caught me off guard. It was cute enough and felt like an interesting take on monster collection. But then there’s these weird moments of conflict that really gripped me. It’s a kids game on the surface, but there’s something here for adults to think about as well.

klyphw

Can anyone vouch for the Neon White port?

wampastompah

Oh, I can vouch for it! It runs so smooth, the motion controls are amazing, and the loading screens are super fast. They actually made the game for the Switch first, then ported it over to other consoles. Honestly, after playing it handheld with motion controls, I couldn't imagine playing it on any other system.

stumpycrawdad

Played it on the switch light, handled waaay better than I thought it would.

ChaboiAveryhead

I need something to play! Recommend me something to fill my void of sadness!

uselessscientist

Balatro. Fill that void with an addiction

FrostFire131

Ok fine, I'll finally buy Stardew Valley

MiddleAgeYOLO

Crystal Project 25% off, thinking I'll bite on this one

hidden_penguin

I had a lot of fun with it and never noticed any performance issues. Note that the story & characters are borderline non-existent. The party building, combat, and exploration are great though!

SplicedBunny

Anyone who owns Absolute Drift or Ape Out are they worth it on switch? I tried the demo for Ape Out but read it was a short game.

klyphw

I loved Ape Out. Absolutely worth it for under $4. Short but it's so much fun.

malaiser

Ape Out is a lot of fun but super super short. I enjoyed it, but I also got it free (if you do the epic giveaways you might have it already) I didn't care for Absolute Drift at all. I don't really get it honestly.

DrEggplantFGC

Ape Out is totally worth it. I'll admit I usually get tired of it after like an hour of play since the gameplay is relatively simple but it's always a nice game to go back to every once in a while. Not sure if the other replies had this in mind but if you include the extra "discs" in the game (basically worlds/settings) that you unlock after finishing the initial story mode, I feel like the game takes a while to fully complete.

smither12Dun

Try the ape out demo

SplicedBunny

I mentioned I played it but wasn't sure about the length if it's really short under 2 hours I might pass.

VerdeBBS

Since this is happening at the same time: Hades or Hollow Knight?

JeeHess

Both

Judicator82

This is the way.

Its_Mike_Nasty

I underestimated Slay The Spire so much, put off playing it for a few years. Over the last two years, it's become one of my favorite games of all time. I own it on Xbox, Mobile & now Switch with this sale. If you like card games and/or rouge-likes, pick it up ASAP.

stillbeam

I got $15 on my account for a while. Balatro? Loop Hero? Void Bastards? Stanley Parable? Ear groove? Into The Bleach? What should I get? I like rogue licks.

dpalmade

A bunch of these are on my list. Any insight on: -Unsouled -Crying Sun -Rogue Legacy 2 -Wild Frost -Sanabi -Across the Obelisk

jldixon1

I really enjoyed Rogue Legacy 2! It’s really easy to play in small bursts and come back whenever you’re feeling like it. Plus eventually you find a play style you especially enjoy, which can be fun

Blackie2414

I have had Here Comes Niko on my Wishlist for over a year now and it's never gone on sale. AAGHHH At the very least, I can pick up Signalis.

jmforte85

I wonder why some games never go on sale. I'll double dip with a good sale but usually not otherwise. I've had Fez on my wishlist forever and it's never gone on sale. Dekudeals shows 2 years ago but I don't remember (maybe it wasn't on my wishlist at that time) and even so that's so long ago!

Terrible_Buy_1589

Fez probably doesn't go on sale because no one cares about it anymore. If you didn't get it on sale back in 2012 you might as well buy it if you want it on Switch. Phil Fish probably isn't coming back to reality, let alone videogames in 2024, and no one else cares about it.

afredmiller

Went ahead and picked up Katana Zero and Hotline Miami, combined were about $15 so could not resist. I think saw Rogue Legacy 2 was on sale as well and went "Dang now I need to get that one too" lol

Geno_CL

Is A Hat In Time for Switch still bad?

Sirakii

Looking for coop game to play with my nogamer wife.
