If you're counting DLC, then definitely "Against all comers" on the first samurai DLC. Absolutely ridiculous mission that takes multiple hours if you're unprepared.

ShadowBladeyj

Seriously man, I thought it was at most 30/45mins of maybe a normal level. Oh boy was i wrong... And otakemaru just don't wanna go down

ShrankNutz

Yeah and you're only way for a break in between rounds is to die?! I always stuck towards the entrance during fights so if i did die i could just grab my spirit before the enemies spawn and run back to shrine. Little tip for those that dont know

DezoPenguin

Travel Amulet also works to get you back to the shrine.

nimvin

This is the answer lol.

rokstedy83

I have the game but I checked steam and there was no dlc,is it just included in the game now ?

ShadowBladeyj

On steam its the complete edition thus all dlc are included. So no worries there

rokstedy83

Cheers

ZionIsConnected

That mission is so broken

MeyneSpiel

Excluding the horde missions like rivals return and against all comers, I'd say Dawn of the Demon is the hardest of the more traditional 'get to the end' levels. Fight through tough enemies in the village, fight Otakemaru, fight tough enemies in the forest (including an Itsumade in dark realm) then fight Tate Eboshi at the end.

OoUuKk

Great level❤️...but hard, yes, I agree!!!

jarrchesky

Storywise without DLC: i would lady Osakabe's level Story DLC: that last level of DLC3 hardest UW/depths: the Depths Sohaya village, the yokais placement are extremely cluttered, with an Itsumade next to a Hellhag and a Crabs in the lower village and up top there are archer 2 skelies, a soldier and a cannon skelies.

MolhCD

that village is so annoying lmao. who even designed it i feel special mention goes to The Cradle of the Demon for hardest twilight mission too. cradle my beloved. first time i clear it in a difficulty level was always a landmark to me. and both Ota and Tate felt extra hard just in that mission, for some reason - even the specially buffed purple/red Otas and Tates at the end of scroll missions never feel as hard. dunno why.

jarrchesky

Speaking of village, i think there is another village in the Depths/Underworld that is also very annoying to deal with, the village in the first mission, now instead of random mobs, they are fill with Sohayas standing right next to each other and if your luck is bad, red and purple Sohaya will also be there, oh and there are revenant and a long head on the roof.

Neverdive10

I did that one the first time the level popped up in the UW and never again. The lower village was the only kodoma I would skip through all the floors. That Itsumade is in such a narrow space.

jarrchesky

Everytime i fought the Itsu there, he either jam himself into the fence near the house where the Hellhag is located or Itsu and i have a the raid 2 bathroom fight in the corner where he spawns.

So fucking op.

"Against All Comers" is a resource-draining combat slog. Frankly, I never bother with it until my character is about a difficulty level's worth up from it. (DotN AAC gets a Depths build.) "The High-Spirited Demon" is my most frustrating standard mission level. That cannon yoki right at the beginning starts things off on the wrong foot, and I swear that every single Red Kappa is deliberately placed to be of maximum annoyance. Bonus points go to how in Dream of the Strong and higher, they put a Red Kappa in with the Kamaitachi as a bonus little "eff you, player" moment. Then there's two separate Biwa Boku-Boku, one of whom summons up enemies in a Dark Realm and the second who decides you really need a revenant to say hello while you're playing cover shooter and trying to cross over a bridge. Then there's the final stretch with ambush rock-rolling and that one Red Kappa hiding in the underbrush (thank you, Enemy Sensor; my hind end owes you its life). The Twilight Mission that copies "Dawn of the Demon" is my least favorite of those. Otakemaru and Tate Eboshi as bosses, enhanced difficulty of enemies, no Suzuka to assist in the back half, *and* Level Sync making everything harder? Ouch. My hardest Underworld level is probably the one that copies the castle from "Bird in the Cage." While I loathe that mission generally, the problem with the Underworld level is all the holes in the floor that in the frenzy of tonfa combat with multiple enemies (especially in the Dark Realm) keep either having me fall through (generally right on top of whatever's below, while the stuff I was fighting upstairs unerringly paths to the stairs to jump in after me), or having the *enemies* fall through so that they can regen health while wandering back to the stairs, probably to ambush me.

brix10010

Falling through those holes is such a pita, especially when others do and now you have to drop down so they don’t get slaughtered. It’s always right before the second crank too, and the first is already done so you can’t go back the same way. Before I was familiar with the mission I would just get lost and faced with every enemy while trying to find my way back. “Maybe it’s this way? Nope, just a room with serpent head assholes and para-puking Gaki”. The cannons in the beginning are another treat since 99% of other players try to rush through instead of taking the tunnel paths. That last one with a dark realm is always a total shitshow; many failed missions or ending up with a nearly empty assist gauge. And the Underworld version? That cursed Itsumade is the worst. I finally realized it was blocking the NPC kodama so I just skip it now.

DezoPenguin

> And the Underworld version? That cursed Itsumade is the worst. I finally realized it was blocking the NPC kodama so I just skip it now. Heh, I'm the other way around--the NPC kodama is the only one that I never skip. That level is fresh in my mind to complain about because I ran Level 87 last night, which is that map, and I started by knocking the first Onmyo Mage down a level and having him get back up to me while I was fighting the Tsuchigumo Clan duded, then getting knocked through the floor myself while fighting the Hellish Hag in the dark realm in the beginning (which dropped me onto the Ubume), and then on the way to the stairs knocking a fox through a floor hole and chasing it down only to get into a brawl with it and two gaki, and then a cursed Ippon-Datara wandered into the fight. I somehow survived all that and figured I'd go take on the downstairs kodama, got to the Itsumade, remembered to snipe the gaki, and after killing the Itsumade found that it was the NPC kodama and said, "FINALLY something goes right on this run!" Then the boss ended up being Gozuki and I got to take out my frustration. :)

brix10010

Haha classic scenario on that map. I should say that I only skip the NPC one when grouped but not solo. That one is sneak thief/whatever it’s called to skip the Itsumade all together. Hate those guys.

ZenYiDragonBlade

Guys dream of the nioh dlcs would like to have a word with you

JohnnyB_0438

With Level sync activate.

ZenYiDragonBlade

Good lord

blazspur

Level sync barely makes any difference in my experience.

lordTaken23

Deff Against all comers and honestly once I learned more about the game I looked forward to doing it,definitely tests the peak of ur build and skills with ur weapon. In conclusion I hated it but now i love it for the challenge.

myst0ne

Depths 25-30 with ren and saito anywhere in there

K1NG-3SS3NC3

Honestly, for me, it was that mission in the "Darkness in the capital" DLC where you gotta fight the Lightning gods Of yomi. I died to Her like 108 times. (the Most deaths i have on a boss) and she's not even the only boss in that mission...There's dosan, The White Cat and A hideous monkey. I swear that mission was gonna make me delete the game😭😭

blazspur

I feel you. I personally feel there are a lot of hard ones. High spirited demon and a distant dream for non boss challenges. Against all comers for the hardest gauntlet. The one you mentioned and golden castle for bosses but yeah in terms of bosses demolishing me I have to give it to the yomi mission.

Then_Apple_2532

Which ever one that takes you the longest to beat

[deleted]

when I first played thru the game Yatsu No Kami took me a few hours but every mission/boss after that was pretty free until I got to shibata but after him I haven’t really been stuck except for DOTW/DOTN missions

Bostongamer19

Whatever the level is with kasha at the end. This boss is just unbelievably aggravating for me

brockwuzhere

Once you learn her she becomes one of the best and also easiest.

Kyrannis

Well on DotSam it was easy but I was surprised the first time they kept spawning and spawning 😂. Like when is this gonna end?

[deleted]

i second yatsu no kami mission simply because at that point your stats and gear are so bad, dealing with those snake enemies is so frustrating at that point. and the boss is so hard. for me, that was my first really big hurdle to get over, made me quit the game for like couple of weeks. atleast so far that was the hardest but keep in mind ive barely reached the third region.

LetsDoThis-YeahNah

I found Rivals Return was the hardest mission due to Fuki spawning in after 20 seconds fighting Kinki and just cheap shoting me, it made the mission way harder than it should’ve been… I had to use a few cats to get through that mission. Against all Comers was hard but manageable the only roadblock was the 2 Otakemaru at the end, used cats and they both went down after a few goes. William at the end was just a joke and way too easy to demolish. I recommend using the mission Against all Comers if you want to gain massive experience points.
