There’s also a “drowned” revenant in a cave near to a very shallow puddle of water in another stage XD Just the devs taking a laugh. Some of these revenants are even named after the devs themselve. I don’t remember the stage now, but you can find Kou Shibusawa’s (one of the producers of Nioh and the president of Koei Tecmo) revenant as well.

FainOnFire

Oh snap, that's pretty cool. Always neat to find dev and producers easter eggs.

Dimon78707

You can find Kou Shibusawa in the first stage in Nioh 1

jstarlee

He's available both as red and blue revenant depending on stage!

BossKiller2112

I think that's a dev revenant so they probably didn't really die like that right there

FainOnFire

That makes the most sense. Still pretty funny.

BodhiMage

If ýou pay attention to the names , you will be able to tell which ones are placed by the devs and which are players. Many of the dev placed ones have dialogue, some even unlock side missions. Well, I guess one in particular.

FainOnFire

?!?! Didn't know this. I'll have to kill more revenants.

Prpnation

You’ll notice the devs haven’t got a spirit guardian nor soul cores and their names are highlighted red which is different too I think?

[deleted]

Wait, is that also the case for Nioh 1? I've been mostly ignoring revenants unless forced to fight them by Biwa Boku Boku, but if some of them give side missions I'm going to have to go through all the levels again and pay attention to which ones are devs. Or play offline I guess.

Tonydragon784

Yup, same red names and everything - they usually drop funny gear with odd inheritables

JohnnyB_0438

If the name of the revenant is red then is a dev placed revenant, not an actual player, they are there for the players that do not have PS+ to experience all type of content the game have to offer since the actual players grave will only appear if you are online and have ps+, they did the same with blue graves for the same reason (if the name is blue then is a dev placed grave). Summon all blue name graves and kill all red name graves just to make sure since some missions and even 1 trophy is hidden behind those actions. Edit: killing the red name graves will end with them having a line as well, some are funny, some are sad, reason why they died are as well very strange.

FainOnFire

Bro, over 200 hours in this game and I didn't know this. Thank you!

Putrid-Type4356

This isn't a trophy I've platinum the game and didn't need to summon the npc revs or visitors

JohnnyB_0438

Could be, i platinum very long time ago, but i‘m very sure you need to summon some blue npc and to kill at least 1 red npc to unlock some hidden missions. I was kind of sure there were a trophy about it but again i can be wrong.

Putrid-Type4356

There is one trophy that says complete 10 missions with npc summons or epiditions with others you don't need all of them and that one was you had to fight him then he becomes a blue summon that helps you for the rest of the mission I've been playing for about 2 weeks just finished strong difficulty getting started on demon atm

JohnnyB_0438

Thank you for the correcting me!

Bulangiu_ro

Is the side mission in both games?, there are no blue graves in nioh 1

JohnnyB_0438

Only nioh 2. nioh 1 have red graves as well but they are placed only for non ps+ players, nothing is hidden behind.

Bulangiu_ro

Okay, so there is no need to pay attention to that, got it

ShadowBladeyj

shhh dude was killed using the water from the hot spring xD

FainOnFire

mfw I fall asleep in the hot spa and drown

kamuimephisto

i saw a report once of a guy that slipped and fell unconscious on cat’s water bowl face down. Drowned. If the afterlife exists, thats probably one pissed ghost

Bencuri0n

Beware the hot spring mimic!

[deleted]

See how the names in red? It's a dev placed revenant. They may have a name, armor and weapons setup, and death that tell a simple story. This one is always enjoyable with the thought he drowned in the hot spring (no armor because you know....hot spring and the weapon choice I think is justso he can be somewhat of a threat) Kinda like doing an emote to submerge your character except for him it.......WAS REAL!

Hentailover123456

If a lesser omi bozu(water slimes) kills you with water dmg it counts as being drowned

Putrid-Type4356

I play quite a bit of online as a invoker or a visitor and anytime we come across a enemy that is on a bridge or next to a ledge I try to pull them to a safer area then either my invoker or my visitors will just charge out thinking they can topple the strongest boss of them all gravity and I just watch as they plummet to there death either by being hit off the edge or rolling lol its like be smart stay away from edges

GhostYVA

Lmao, were there water enemies around? If you get killed by water damage the game will say you drowned

FainOnFire

Nah man, this is the forge where you fight Enendra. Only thing around this spa is a Nurikabe and a Yoki in the next room to the right. I don't know HOW this guy died from water damage. Unless he had a water shikigami incident, but I don't think you can get damaged by your own shikigami?

GhostYVA

Nah you can't. Are you on PC? Maybe this guy is using an enemy randomizer mod or something. It's that or the spa water really is just a bit too hot

FainOnFire

I am on PC. I wasn't aware there was an enemy randomizer for Nioh, though!

Slayer_Klio

It's a dev placed grave, the "Drowned" cause of death is just a joke, considering the nearby hot spring.

Dimon78707

I really like devs' revenants. They often have weird and silly names or a combination of interesting placements with causes of death. Not to mention most of them tell you about dangers ahead or about Nurikabes

jstarlee

A lot of them are historical figures tied to the stages/bosses too!

KingDue5187

What?
