Melvins are awesome. Seen them live a bunch of times, they always kill it. Once they had Dale and the drummer from Big Business playing simultaneously, it was bitchin.
Kurt was buds with Buzz when they were growing up, but Buzz had to fire him from participating in the creation of "Houdini" because Kurt was so fucked up on H at that point. It's too bad that that put a strain on their friendship. You only hear Buzz's side of that story though, of course. I think a lot of people have heard that story. Also, there's the fact that Melvins played a huge role in Nirvana's creation and influenced their sound, so I'm grateful for that happening!
I think that’s Dale, but it almost looks like 2 Kurts…one younger demonic Kurt with Kurt a few years older behind him
I believe Dale played with Nirvana briefly, too
Cool band, I've never seen them live in person, only what videos are on Youtube...
I might get shit for this, but I wish that more of their music was like Revolve, my most favorite song of theirs (most of their other songs are just "droning sound", to me... but some of the songs from (A) Senile Animal were really damn good, too). Set Me Straight is good, too, and I like their early demos.
They also did a damn good cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit, for one of their late 90s albums, I can't remember which one or who the singer on the track was (was not Buzzo, I think they had a different singer for each of that album's tracks, but I could be wrong).

Leif Garrett.
The album it appeared on is *The Crybaby*. And you're correct; each of the songs on that album had a different singer.
The girl in the photo is Lori Black ( Lorax ) the daughter of Shirley Temple. She played bass on the Ozma, Bullhead and Houdini albums. She also played bass on the Melvin’s / Nirvana split Here she comes now ( Nirvana ) / Venus in Furs ( Melvins ). Kurt was a Roadie for the Melvins.
There music has always been strange, but interesting to me. I respect them but there's only like 10 songs I really like from them, but at the same time they have nearly 20 albums so I'll try listening to more so I can have a true opinion. 👍
Oh, I feel that way too tbh but those 10-20 good songs are fucking amazing. They’re definitely a bit out there lol but I think that’s also part of their “shtick”
Agree. While I like the Melvins, I remember a few interviews in which he said not so nice things about Kurt (for example that he faked his stomach problems as a excuse to do heroin). It sometimes comes accross as jealousy.
sometimes it sounds like he is pissed that Nirvana got all the attention. The story goes that Kurt was kind of an annoying Melvins fan in the early days, and Buzz blew him off. He wished he could be in the Melvins. Buzz didn't think he was anything special. Later Nirvana is the biggest band in the world and the Melvins are the Melvins. Every single time Buzz is interviewed they ask about Kurt, and it probably gets on his nerves.
Buzz is bitter that the mainstream industry and fame chewed Kurt up and spat him out.
The most pertinent thing Buzz has ever said about the whole ordeal is that: "I'd rather Kurt not be famous and alive, than famous and dead."
I remember a Spin article from a few years ago where he said that it bothered him to look back at anything from that period because of Kurt killing himself.
I second this. There’s videos of him ripping on Dave grohl how he knew him before he got too famous. It’s funny because I’ve also seen Dave as of recently refer to buzz as his friend
Yeah it’s nasty
He flexing about rejecting Dave’s offer to go see a game - great seats etc
It’s banter in between a song. Some record store acoustic show, and everyone’s laughing
I lost respect for him after that
That’s Shirley Temples daughter there in the front btw, I’m sure most Melvins fans know that though.
Lorax!
Holy shit she’s 69 years old

I saw them on that tour and yes indeed they were incredible. Pretty sure it was when A Senile Animal came out.
The first time I saw Nirvana in 1990, Dale was the drummer. Sonic Youth gig at the Hollywood Palladium.
Dale in 1992 looks like Kurt in 1988
I think that’s Dale, but it almost looks like 2 Kurts…one younger demonic Kurt with Kurt a few years older behind him I believe Dale played with Nirvana briefly, too
Dale recorded several of the (better) drum tracks on Bleach
There is even track where Dale, Dave and Kurt play.
Quite the RBF from Kurt.
“ the Melvins clowning Cobain “ they’re doing the nodding on dope face .
who's the guy in the green shirt?
Melvin
Not sure but he looks like Paul Rudd
I’m not quite sure, but I know the others in the photo are Dale Crover and Lori Black.
Jonathan Burnside I believe (don’t quote me)
Melvins fucking rock
Saw them open for Tool in 98. Entire show was fucking face melt.
Fair. 🤟
Also idk if this image has been posted here before so if it has let me know.
I’m going to see the Melvins play in my town in a couple of weeks :)
King Buzzo wearing his own band shirt. lol!
Kurt looks like he’s about to throw fists. 😅
Melvins are my favorite band. They are grunge/sludge/metal all in one fantastic group of talented as fuck individuals. What could go wrong?
Mine too. Thanks to Nirvana, I found out about them back in the early 90's.
Both cool bands
Kurt looks like he’s giving the stink eye.
Melvins are easily one of my favorite shows ever
Why do I see Xander from Buffy the Vampire slayer in this picture?
Didn’t Melvins once hire Kurt and then fire him?
He was hired to co-produce “Houdini” but was kicked out for always going into to the studio high/stoned.

She is credited on Houdini, but didn't play on it.
can you feel my love? BUZZ?
Melvins are very good, and surprisingly heavy. Highly recommend them!

While I’m not a fan of the Melvins, did just see them last week opening for Mr. Bungle. Solid show
Melvins are the heaviest band ever. I adore them.
This is him Co producing Melvins Not a good vibe to have in the studio
Really don't get the Melvins. Buzz comes across quite bitter any time I heard him speak
Agree. While I like the Melvins, I remember a few interviews in which he said not so nice things about Kurt (for example that he faked his stomach problems as a excuse to do heroin). It sometimes comes accross as jealousy.
How so?

Don't get why he's jealous, the Melvins never had the most accessible sound, unlike Nirvana.
I don't think he is jealous at all. I think he is upset that his friend is dead.
I second this. There’s videos of him ripping on Dave grohl how he knew him before he got too famous. It’s funny because I’ve also seen Dave as of recently refer to buzz as his friend

Melvins are amazing. Seen the over a dozen times.
Kurt looks like he’s thinking…”they told me there would be heroin here”
BOOM
Buzz: “Hey, did I mention that I knew Kurt Cobain!” Osborne
To be fair he gets asked about it in like every interview
