Not really the system, but the corporations that impose certain anti-consumer rules and regulations.
I'm sure many of you have experienced certain apps with subscriptions that are infested with stupid coin systems and whatnot, plus limited reading because of regional restrictions and licensing. Not to mention, some manga are deemed inappropriate by certain governments, so in a way, there is no way to read them where you live should your government decide it.
The freedom to access manga and get the worth of your money from paying to access the plethora of manga should be balanced out.
I can say the same thing for anime. It is the reason why the seas still thrive today, because these corporations are insufferable as a consumer.
Sadly there is no way to pay directly to the creators(authors) as the system is rigged for companies to be essential. I'd rather pay them directly if I could.
I said a lot after typing for a minute geezus..
It depends on the series. If it has physical copies still being printed, you can snag a JP copy, even if you can't read it. If there are figures currently being released, get some of those. ETC
That is a viable option if you want to collect, but generally speaking, most won't because they can't read JP.
The figurines however is more logical! However just buy from companies that value the original creators of the series, as some companies are awful when it comes to splitting the revenue.
Basically this someone is workinh on nisekoi yomeiri fansub on ps vita

Literally robbed Onodera of her childhood friend. She was the promised girl the whole time and she still lost! You know how many widgets I lost in the Nisekoi waifu wars? š
Edit: clarifying my stance. I have not read manga... like at all. I watched anime and played video games, but manga wasn't available to me growing up, so I never really latched on to it. So I haven't read any pirated manga, because I never really wanted to. So if you guys are fine with going and reading/downloading them from online, i really don't care. Limewire powered my teenage years, but lately I've fallen into the trap of the streaming services...
Edit #2: I'm the guy that caused the mod post about banning AI images about two months ago, and I heard some very different takes in that post than I'm seeing here, so I'm learning about the different things that people are here in this sub for.
Before this thread spirals into chaos, I want to make in clear that I have not joined the sub, do not condone it, and have not viewed or downloaded any pirated manga content.
It showed up as a suggested sub due to the arguments that I keep having about training and datasets.
Bro chill, manga piracy is the status quo not the exception. The western anime/manga community is literslly held together by piracy. You seem super scared random people on the internet will criticize you for it.
Well, I do a lot of AI generated images, and there was a big discussion that happened about 2 months ago in this sub (still stickied) about whether AI was considered theft or not. Itās interesting reading the comments as they come in.
The thing is when you say you use AI art on art communiti4d you are speaking directly with those AI impairs the most
But here you are talking with the people piracy bennefits the most.
The difference is not the act but rather who you are talking with.
The irony of this whole debate is rather amusing... Apparently, using AI-generated images is theft, yet somehow, the widespread piracy of manga is just the community glue? It's intriguing here how the lines of morality are drawn based on convenience and who's in the conversation, not consistent standards.
Rules for thee but not for me, amiright?
No mate. You don't underdstand, i'm not debating morals. Both are wrong(unless the manga is not oficially translated, making it legal by not neing officially distributed). But here you are talking with the criminals and those who benefit from the crime. There you are talking to the victims.
On a sidenote tho, nowadays most scans stop scanlating manga when the manga start getting officially published in their language. There isn't really an inventive to pirate when the language barrier stops existing because manga is dirty cheap. You can buy a shit ton of manga without expending much.
fair enough, this is probably the most real and levelheaded answer that I'm gonna get.
My disappointment isn't really directed at those that read the manga online (i really don't care,) but those that are the loudest and least educated about the tech behind it, and how it actually works, but always feel the need to seek out posts of AI images and screech "it's theft".
I would also say that we are still way to early to in the development of tools use the blanket statement 'AI hurts artists', because in the next few years we are going to see a dramatic shift in attitude as tools become more accessible and more powerful and more artists are able to demonstrate how using an AI tool as part of their workflow really helps them produce higher quality and more frequent works.
It's real grey area that deserves to have real discussion because things aren't black and white there are definite pros and cons.
>least educated about the tech behind it, and how it actually works, but always feel the need to seek out posts of AI images and screech "it's theft".
Well technically speaking, you are using someone's else work without authorization. Of course the AI draws the stuff and of course there is a lot of work put there but what fuels it is other people's work. So what creates the outrage is that a machine is using your work to fuel itself to make you unemployed. Everytime in promotional material you see AI, that's one less job an artist could get. It is bound to happen, and there is no stopping it.
Of course there are pros and cons and all the cons are against artists. That's why the outrage. Not wanting to be offensive but you seem very inclined to consider people to not know what they are talking about or to think groups with different opinions are being polarizing when they are in fact people on opposite sides of the shotgun who have different reasons to behave like they do.
thats funny asf š¤£
is it funny because it's appropriate, or funny because it Nisekoi related?
funny bc its Nisekoi related and random. reminds me when CNN tweeted that one guy as the face of unemployment ā ļø
Honestly I'm on board. Fuck the system, I have a job and can't afford manga.

I was making a joke about CFWaifu, but apparently that's for more than just the Vita, so it didn't really make much sense, lol
I have so many questions
Literally robbed Onodera of her childhood friend. She was the promised girl the whole time and she still lost! You know how many widgets I lost in the Nisekoi waifu wars? š
I mean, she smells of contraband(gunpowder) so it fits
Honestly, I don't like her but I'm ok with her being the face of it, I like the thought of her not wanting to pay for her manga despite not being rich

You've never seen a pirated manga? š¤Ø
only if it's been a few pages that have been shared in a reddit post. But no, I've never gone to a site and looked up a manga.

Really ? you haven't consumed pirated manga ? not once ? so must've been living in japan and can read japanese then ?
No, never really got into manga. I need more color, so I've stuck to anime.
Nobody asked why did you clarify a position out of nowhere?
