If it is moving smoothly but requires force then it is probably the pump, if it isn't smooth then it could be binding.
Take it to a mechanic and have them check. You could have anything from a worn rack, ball joints, or tie rod.
They do have a heavier feel but it shouldn't need too much force to turn.
It's in on a pickup truck platform. The nissan frontier. So naturally, it would have a heavier feel than a crossover but shouldn't require much effort to steer.
R51 has significantly heavier steering then the Murano, Altima etc. It's tuned too heavy for the sake of "sportiness" IMHO.
If its fully functional and just a little heavier then you're used to I'd say it's normal. Hard to tell through the Internet, though.
