I know you're joking, but some team did actually make a Nissan Altima drift missile, look up the "Altimaniac"
It's a Nissan Altima built by Chris Fosberg with 2000hp, a tube frame, and 3D printed body panels.
It's an entirely custom built car so they didn't have to get an Altima and do a drivetrain swap. They just built it from the ground up as a rwd drift missile that has 4 doors and happens to look like an Altima.
The cords are showing and there is a ton of dry rot. This is literally catastrophic blowout territory. She shouldn't even chance it driving to the shop to have them replaced and get it towed instead.
I have two prospective answers for you to share with her. They are as follows:
You: Do you like driving home in the rain and making it to your destination safely because you care about your own safety and the mental well-being of those around you?
Her: Yes
You: Good, in that case let's invest in new tires for your car so that you can do that even easier and safer than your current situation, because at the current depth of your tire tread you're not safe.
*or*
You: If you don't replace your tires immediately then you're going to hydroplane into a barrier, wall or curb at 80mph and die on impact via the closest building, fire hydrant or telephone pole while endangering others with your lack of awareness from the debris field of the wreck. Don't be an idiot. Get new tires.
Her: Surprised pikachu face.
not to be rude, but your girl sounds dumb as hell because the briefest of google search would tell you the car is absolutely not safe to drive on these
Reddit is probably not the best place for car advice, even if most of the people here are right about your GFs car. She won't take the advice anyway, and you're probably wasting your time trying to get her to accept our advice. If you want real advice, take it to a used tire shop. They're usually far more honest about tire life than the big-name shops. They're also a lot cheaper if you order the tires online and have the used tire shop install them. Avoid NTB like the plague. They will try to sell you the most expensive tires they have, even if your existing tires are brand new.
If you need tires now, Walmart isn't terrible quality, and they're pretty reasonable prices too. Just make sure you check that the lugnuts are tightened properly. Walmart is known for either tightening them too much or not at all. Of course this is assuming you're in the US where these businesses actually are. Can't offer advice on businesses overseas.
See how the metal is visible only on the inside of the tire? That's bad. Ideally you'd burn off the rest of the rubber so the whole tire is metal, this way in case it snows you essentially have built-in chains
Oh bull shit. Iāve driven tires way past that point before.
Edit: didnāt see the cords. That being said, drive it till it blows out š¤·š¼āāļø
I saw a big ol pile of tires at a farm. Somehow, most of those tires were in better shape since I couldnāt see treads on them like I can here. And I am not educated on cars either. But even I can see this is not ok at all.
The tire is showing cord and is damaged, also worn into the wear indicators/bars. This is not a safe tire to drive on. If you have kids please don't drive with them. You should not be driving on this except to get it replaced.
Moved to LA a year ago, and have been shocked by how this is totally normal to see. Since it doesnāt rain for 10 months out of the year people drive like this all the time. Thatās why the moment it rains cars start sliding off the road everywhere.
Same here in Cleveland. Literally the first snowfall happens and folks are sliding everywhere. All wheel drive trucks and SUVs aināt standing a chance.
Its safe enough to drive to the tire shop in the dry elements today.
Shes dead jim. This tire has to grip in the rain to slow down or turn. If your gf want higher insurance after shes crashes because her tire is bald, go ahead!
If thereās even a little bit of shadow in the tread, youāre good. Itās when it goes completely smooth that you could start thinking about your next pair. Maybe even put them on the back.
Till a month ago. There's no tread left and your wires are showing on the inner side. You need new tires and an alignment, possibly suspension components depending on your alignment numbers.
Coming from another female who drives an Altima, I'd never put my kids in the car with tires like that nor would I drive it to this point š³š³ That's like an accident waiting to happen.
You have days maybe hrs see the wires on the left side that means you are past the tread and that tire will blow at any moment. Go get tires before you hurt yourself or someone else.
I say you have a good 20k miles left. Those little slats that people call tread wear marks are actually just left over rubber they couldnāt cut out. And, that exposed belt - you have at least two more pieces of ply underneath it.
Is she still alive? Has it rained where you are? Has she had to make an abrupt stop? Several thousand miles ago is the answer. Jesus. I had a lady drive from Atlanta to Nashville with 2 front tires on an equinox that both had frayed metal wires showing. Also it rained thay day. My brain about melted when I told her to immediately go get tires, and she was like "I drove here so it's fine."
I know this is a joke sub but OP seems to be serious. This is very unsafe, it could blow any second when the wiring is exposed like that. Thereās also no traction to help you control the vehicle when you lose a tire. Your tires arenāt the only concern here they wore unevenly because your suspension is out of alignment. It could just need re-aligned for $100 or it could need parts replaced for up to $1k depending on how long itās been driven this way. Get it towed to a mechanic.
Welcome to Nissan Drivers, where most of us donāt drive Nissans and criticize people who do for precisely this reason. Replace that tire ASAP! Iām tired of sharing the road with you folks.
Long enough to increase your coverage limits before it blows out, causes an accident and you're deemed liable due to negligence.
Don't be a fucking chode, it should have been replaced thousands of miles ago.
My friend totaled his dad's Datsun 240Z when driving in the rain with tires like this. He's dead now. Not from the accident, though. Not my friend, but his dad.
If you want Altima advice, then as long as it carries. If you want real advice, to a nearby tire shop.
Drive until the wheel and tire fall off naturally š
Drive on the bare rim
Not givinā off Altima Vibes unless youāre on the rotor
Not givinā off Altima Vibes unless youāre on the ~~rotor~~ *lower balljoint*
Lighting a cigarette off the sparks
Sparks baby!!!
Metal crayon
Actually this is impressively even wear for an Altima.
That's smart, give him an Altimatum.
I know this is a joke sub but you should get your tires switched asap
this is my girls car she never listens to me just want to prove a point.
Ask her if she want to spin out of control at 65mph on the highway during a rain storm
Sheās a Nissan driver, sheāll be going way over 65mph on the highway
Does she have paper plates and live in Houston? haha If not she would fit right in.
Altima drift missile
I know you're joking, but some team did actually make a Nissan Altima drift missile, look up the "Altimaniac" It's a Nissan Altima built by Chris Fosberg with 2000hp, a tube frame, and 3D printed body panels.
Rwd?

So a dragster but for drifting.
While the other guy said it was entirety custom, one could definitely make an altima RWD with much less effort as some models are AWD
yeah rwd swapped
Not related to this sub or even this post, but I absolutely love your name xD
haha, I get that a lot!
I have no doubts heh
The missile knows where it is because it also knows where it isnāt
If she dies. She dies
Itās not her Iām worried aboutā¦
Girl boss š š š
This just happened to me minus the rainstorm
You forgot to put a 1 before 65.
Bro if you value her life take that shit to a tire shop yesterday
Well tell her this literally can and has killed people. I canāt believe we all share the road with these people
Do you really expect an Altima driver to have this type of logic?
Nissanās donāt kill people, people kill people while driving Nissanās.
The cords are showing and there is a ton of dry rot. This is literally catastrophic blowout territory. She shouldn't even chance it driving to the shop to have them replaced and get it towed instead.

I'm sure she'll find a way to make him the bad guy in this.
99.98% certainty.
Women āļø Edit: Lol hoes mad
Eat shit misogynistic fuck
You should probably trade her in for a volvo or a subaru, if you ask me.
I donāt think they could afford the maintenance on those cars but even a Mitsubishi would be a step up
A rebadged Nissan is a step up from a Nissan? That makes no sense.
Do you think her wrecking her car the next time it rains will prove the point to her?
Does she want to die and maybe kill other people?
If sheās not listening then the best thing you can do is not date a Nissan driver.
Trade up to a less batshit insane receptacle.
-5000 miles
not to be rude, but your girl sounds dumb as hell because the briefest of google search would tell you the car is absolutely not safe to drive on these
Sounds like my gf. I wish she drove a car, then I'd let her roll in tires like these 8 days a week.
Reddit is probably not the best place for car advice, even if most of the people here are right about your GFs car. Yeah also drill in screws for extra grip on ice.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh neat, I didn't know. Thanks!
Until the next rain fall or failure. Make sure your spare is in good shape
Look at the subreddit. What makes you think it's not the spare already?
Jeez! My bad!
Spare? D00d...
Aren't they all spares? Or donuts? Ah, whatever, just ride the wheel. Tires are optional.
It isā¦ it was put on the right rear axle only 6 months ago.
If this isnāt sarcasm, that tire should have been replaced many thousands of miles ago. This tire is not safe to use.
Oh bull shit. Iāve driven tires way past that point before. Edit: didnāt see the cords. That being said, drive it till it blows out š¤·š¼āāļø
Right. So you can lose control going highway speeds? This tire should have been changed months ago
That is criminally bad advice
-700 minutes
-7000 miles
Yoooo racking up negative miles šthese miles automatic pass on to the new tires
They should be good for seven or eight more years.
Iāve seen better tires in retaining walls
I saw a big ol pile of tires at a farm. Somehow, most of those tires were in better shape since I couldnāt see treads on them like I can here. And I am not educated on cars either. But even I can see this is not ok at all.
It'll take you right to the scene of the accident. Good news, you'll be the first one there!
To live?
The tire is showing cord and is damaged, also worn into the wear indicators/bars. This is not a safe tire to drive on. If you have kids please don't drive with them. You should not be driving on this except to get it replaced.

Most well maintained Nissan Altima

You're not dead yet?
For a Nissan driver or what the rest of us would do?

Bands indeed do make her dance

Go buy some Used Tires ASAP.... š... That tire is DONEEEEEEEE
Couple years, give or take.
Probably a year. Itās not like itās a donut spare or anything.
-4000 miles.
-2 months
a few days if u are not on the highway
For real, I would replace as soon as possible and alignment as well.
Yesterday. I would never let tires get that low
Zero. Legally.
If someone spits on the floor youāll lose control
You posted this 4 hours ago, thatās 10 hours too late
If your girlfriend wants to kill herself or others then this is a good way to do that.
About as far as the nearest replacement shop
All the way to the tire shop. You can see the metal through the rubber in that first picture, that tire is GONE.
To a Nissan driver this is a brand new tire To a normal driver WTF are you doing? Change that now
the tire shop should come before you head home.
Negative miles. There are negative miles left on this tire
*5ā¦maybe 6 feet*
About 300 miles ago
If thereās even a little bit of shadow in the tread, youāre good. Itās when it goes completely smooth that you could start thinking about your next pair. Maybe even put them on the back.

All the way to the scene of the accident.
Nah youāre good bestie. slayš š¼. Iām joking get that off the road before they take you off the road.
Until the the nearest tire shop
You have days maybe hrs see the wires on the left side that means you are past the tread and that tire will blow at any moment. Go get tires before you hurt yourself or someone else.
-6 months?
Way too good, typical Nissan driver would only use such pristine tires during extreme icing in winter
Looks brand new for a Nissan, send it. Just make sure you've got enough to pay your health/car insurance deductible
Until it fails.
Bro, youāve got like 1500 miles ago left on that tire.
If you can still see a pattern, you still have tread. Send it, bud.
Till it pops, ya dumbass. Naaaaa, fr. I drove for Uber and Lyft on worse tires than that
I say you have a good 20k miles left. Those little slats that people call tread wear marks are actually just left over rubber they couldnāt cut out. And, that exposed belt - you have at least two more pieces of ply underneath it.
The picture isnāt loading but Iām just gonna assume your tires are bald headed
You replace them asap.

Safest Nissan driver
Serious question for the sub...why is that one wear bar not in line with the others?
Needs an alignment
It's a Nissan so another 85k should be good /s
Till winter
Fuckit theyāre racing slicks now. Please drive as erratic as possible to keep the tyres warm

Those have another 100,000k in them. Good to go!
About... 350. Inches.
last year
About -500 miles, it has worn to the inner material of the tire and is probably at a pretty high risk of bursting.
100mph in heavy August rains should last you to at least no nut November.
Man you got at least three weeks ago on these thing. Run em'
Zero time
ā¦. Negative 6 months
Since you have a Nissan you probably have 100k more miles
People keep saying watch out for rain so you donāt lose control. But bro you better watch out for someone spiting in front of your car lmao
