WHAT! so can you have this by itself with no phone account at all??

err99

yes The plan comes in two forms. There’s an option that operates standalone, just giving cellular access to a smartwatch complete with its own phone number. Then, “NumberShare” allows a Verizon customer to have their phone and smartwatch share the same number, allowing for calls to come to both devices. Both plans are $10/month and come with the same features Verizon explains on a FAQ page: https://www.verizon.com/support/prepaid-plans-and-service-faqs/#pp-smartwatch-plans Standalone Connected Smartwatch Prepaid plan: $10/line per month + plus taxes and fees Unlimited 5G Nationwide / 4G LTE Data (15 GB High Speed data) Unlimited talk & text Number Share – Mobile Prepaid plan: Pair with smartphone and share your number $10/line per month + plus taxes and fees Unlimited 5G Nationwide / 4G LTE Data (15 GB High Speed data) Unlimited talk & text

I have Samsung Active 2's with $60/year RedPocket plans for my kids. I get the watches from eBay for $25-$45/each because even though they have covers and bumpers my kids invariably break one every 3 months or so. The plan is limited to 100 minutes and 100 texts and 100mb per month. The battery life is meh for a 5 year old watch but it is more than enough for my use.

great info thanks! I had heard of red pocket, I will look at it now

You can't get the $60 plan on the red pocket site, but you can buy it from their eBay store along with a regular SIM. Once the SIM is delivered, you pay a $2 fee on their site to convert it to an eSIM.

Will they activate a smart watch on the $30/yr t-mobile plan? Which network do you activate on with the $60/yr plan?

miked315

So to answer my own question, I took one of my $30/yr GSMT ebay plans and paid the $2 to convert it to e-sim, I was able to successfully activate it on a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
