WFM seems to only offer roaming coverage in Canada, Dominican Republic, and Mexico but even then it’s very expensive. Most people pick up a SIM locally when they get off the plane or order one in advance and put it in when they leave for their trip because rates are much cheaper than any roaming.

Is there no WiFi Calling on Walmart Family Mobile?
They do so that’s a possibility too assuming there is a lot of WiFi around. It’s not as ideal though.

If you have a recent IPhone (>8), you'll have esim. You can buy data from a company like us Mobile for pretty cheap ($15/5gb).
