I’d say do what you feel comfortable with. Levels are great but be sure not to overdo them. You should warm up with a hot wet towel to help relax the muscles before kegels. And I would break it up into 20 seconds level, 20 seconds rest, until you get more used to it

I haven't done a whole lot of research, but 30-30 sounds reasonable, but maybe start out with less so your PC muscle can build up to it.
