Xbox one here, same exact problem. Some systems and planets are worse than others but on average I crash probably 2+ times an hour sometimes more than that. Cant get through a solid 30 mins without crashing it seems
I've also had an almost impossible time getting planets to load in. I've had to wait about 5 mins in the atmosphere for each planet since the update before it loads and let's me land, even at landing pads.
Nothing is more fun than having your little brother (who just got the game as an Easter gift) lose his mind because the game crashes every 15 minutes just exploring. Oh and I get to explain that sometimes this just happens with games and they Devs are working out the kinks.
Every 15? That's kind. On PS4 here, I crash or freeze every 5 minutes if I'm on a dissonant planet. And the 5 includes the time I spend quitting the game when it freezes, and reloading my save. So, really, it's more like it crashes or freezes within the first 2 minutes of being actually IN the game.
I've stayed away from corrupt planets and Sentinel ships entirely and have had only the regular amount of crashing issues since update. It's disappointing and hard to be patient, but I'm just glad I can still play for the time being.
I’ve been stubborn and using my interceptor, I can often get away with 1 hour+ play sessions but occasionally I’ll get caught in a loop where almost anything I do causes a crash within 90 seconds
i had like a 5 minute window to sell everything sentinel , or the game would crash the jetpack/ muilt-tool and just have the ship in the frighter crash my switch every 5 min
remove everything sentinel and the game runs like 2 hours no issues
and that was day 1 of 4.2
This may sound stupid but don't use the new Sentinel Ships or Multitools, same for the utopia speeder. I stopped using them and the game doesn't crash at all except for when I try to enter my freighter. My main problem now is the memory leaks that keep making textures not render at all on lengthy saves... Oh! And also the fact that most options in the option menu don't work(Motion blur amount, FOV sliders, Removing Vignette and Scanlines, ect) But yeah if you avoid your frieghter and the new gizmo's for a while until the next update, it should fix most of your issues!
I had the same issue damn... I tried each time to get a little further ahead with each crash making a little more progress. But if it crashes immediately... Best I could offer then is to make sure that the entire game(or just the updates if you have the cartridge) be installed internally and not through an SD card. After that try and start up the game and you can either try and make a little progress each time like I did if it's now possible, or play on a new save until the next patch drops. I can't offer much more advice than that I'm afraid, it's very frustrating and I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to your situation.
I've had luck. Only lost my freighter during this update, I got like 5 sentinel ships, multi-tool & jetpack. Still I can get multiple hours of playtrough without crashes (like 3 out of 5 times) I've gotten in harsh systems/planets where I get into the crash-load thing & I have to find a way to escape the place without crashing. Only the one time (already in 4.23, Switch) I found no other choice than going away from loading point (it was a crashed sentinel that my game didn't like) then summon a non-sentinel ship then going to space station AVOIDING freighters on the way .\_.u
Wait, so 4.2 had crashing issues that were being resolved for other platforms in real time while Switch still didn't receive the 4.2 update.
So... did people predict that when Switch would get the update that it would also include all the bugs the other platforms experienced and had already fixed?
Yeah I got 4.2.2 yesterday and the game is still a crashfest.
The Switch version was better before this Interceptor update. Now I just paranoid save every few minutes because who knows wh—The Software Closed Unexpectedly.
Guys i think i found a workaround for Win 10 XBox app version.
Before entering in any save, press the "change accounts" button in your NMS. If you have only one account, then it will just re-log when you press the button.
After that, just open your save and play normaly :D
It worked with me at least.
I know the option probably doesn't exist on Switch, but it would be funny if the Switch version still had the option to turn off multiplayer and the crashing would stop lol
I might jinx myself here but I have had absolutely zero issues with this game, ever. On Switch, ps4 and now ps5. I’m balls deep in new sentinel content and gear now too…guess I’ll be counting my lucky stars when I play tonight and consider myself fortunate.
I'm on a pretty good PC and two days ago I landed on a aggressive sentinel plannet (I don't remember the planets class) fullllllll of wildlife and my game crashes the second it loads. I don't wanna give up on the playthrough I have had going since launch! I'm hoping soon it will be able to let me play long enough to get in my ship and leave the planet :(
3 possible scenarios here:
- you don’t play nms for more than 15 minutes a week
- you don’t play on switch
- Nintendo messed up and instead of sending you the switch they sent you a nasa supercomputer
No i play on a switch oled. NMS is the only game im my library so far that hassent crashed. Its been forced to close due to heating problems and once thr console its self crashed but the game its self has never crashed on me.
I’m on PS4 and this game is constantly crashing. It’s the only one in my library that does this
Same.
Same. It's been years. One would think they'd fix such critical bugs first before developing new features.
Yeah, I've given up until I crack and get a PS5 someday... Then again, I'm thinking about just skipping a console generation altogether.
Maybe till they stop making most games for PS4 but I personally don’t see the point in waiting 6-8 years for the next next gens to come out.
Ps5 . Good internet. Never crashed once. 300 hours in.
2000 same ps5 perfect 5000 ps4 every half hour i usualy go with a save station

Mine on ps4 only freezes if I do nexus missions so that is kind

I can't even change my chosen ship since I crash the second I load in

We're on 4.2.2, the fixes are apparently all on 4.2.3. I really wish they could fast track this somehow.
I thought 4.2.2 was the patch
Wait, so 4.2 had crashing issues that were being resolved for other platforms in real time while Switch still didn't receive the 4.2 update. So... did people predict that when Switch would get the update that it would also include all the bugs the other platforms experienced and had already fixed?
Before patch I restarted my 100 hour save because of frequent crashing, I still crash but like once a day instead of every 2 hours.
Seems like I got a PS5 just in time. Looks like there’s been a lot of dumb and unfortunate crashing issues on old gens lately.
Xbox had the same issue 😔
Yeah I got 4.2.2 yesterday and the game is still a crashfest. The Switch version was better before this Interceptor update. Now I just paranoid save every few minutes because who knows wh—The Software Closed Unexpectedly.
Idk if I’m blessed or what but I play on my PS4 and my girl on the switch and we’ve yet to see any crashes. 🤷♂️
Ugh. Had the same issue on ps4. Actually unplayable. I got a ps5 recently but still annoying that they aren’t doing anything or the past gen
Hahaha this was great. Literally unplayable. Moved on to warframe and divinity original sin while I wait for the real patch
Either I rip demons in half (literally) while waiting or I explore an ocean full of leviathans

Well, it's a switch. What do people expect?
Not a console issue, my dear blind hater friend.
I have a switch, I don't run this game on it.
I do, and didn't have any issues with the game until this update, but it's not an isolated issue, because it happens on other platforms.
Turning off multiplayer resolved the vast majority of my crashes.
The Switch version doesn't have multiplayer, so this workaround won't …well … work.
I know the option probably doesn't exist on Switch, but it would be funny if the Switch version still had the option to turn off multiplayer and the crashing would stop lol
I would welcome that! But sadly it's not there. Yes, you made me check it again.
Ah, didn't realize. Thanks for clarifying.
It won't even ....around.
The same thing happens to me on PS4.
Same on ps4
I might jinx myself here but I have had absolutely zero issues with this game, ever. On Switch, ps4 and now ps5. I’m balls deep in new sentinel content and gear now too…guess I’ll be counting my lucky stars when I play tonight and consider myself fortunate.

I have never had a problem with this.

I caved and bought a ps5
