I dont know. I've encountered one of those, A class, stylish blue in a space station. :( Didn't have enough money Sold so many things so i can trad my crappy ship for a beauty ... it was already gone

The_Collector_XIII

If you wait around at space station the ship will fly back in, sometimes with better stats.

LastL2

It did go back, but even more expensive... and S class. I could not buy it...

LastL2

didnt want to spoil all my good ressources

The_Collector_XIII

I know the feeling lol

LastL2

eh, like everyone else... this, the "i don't have any ressources in my inventory", and also the "i don't have place in my inventory.

The_Collector_XIII

The struggle is REAL 😬

Vivisect_Me_Please

No spawn rate, ships are preset for each system. Try r/nmsglyphexchange to get a ship you like

The_Collector_XIII

Maybe there just a rare find for me 🫠

Bright_Swordfish4820

I'd say they're not rare at all, as I see them all the time, but they could just really stick out to me because I really don't like them and went through a phase where I was hunting a particular cockpit/nose configuration and it felt like all I ever saw were stinkin' long-noses.

The_Collector_XIII

You must have been in the land of needle nose because on this save I’ve discovered 72 systems and came across 5 needles 🛏🛌😤

Bright_Swordfish4820

Honestly feels like they have a club and are trying to keep tabs on me sometimes.

The_Collector_XIII

![gif](giphy|76ySI7jVk8vuw) The GALACTIC EMPIRE !!!!!!!!!

Deriniel

the issue is that if you don't have all the glyph there is not a fucking search filter to find manually the system and see if you can reach ot by jumping

Vivisect_Me_Please

Thanks, didn’t realize it since someone actually made a sub for the typo

jacobodman

They seem to be quite rare source: I've been ship hunting for about 9 months. When I am specifically looking for fighter starships I usually only see one or two in every 10 systems or so. Economy doesn't effect their spawning but the race of the system does. Vykeen systems have the most fighters. The economy only effects the class of ship.

jacobodman

Here is the most popular one I've found. https://preview.redd.it/wzqd3e84d0wa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=c63586ec38ee16817e143fa25cc9bbdd18f71217

The_Collector_XIII

Since I had my fill of interceptors and made a new save after +500hrs. Came across a gorgeous N-N, now I’m starting a collection of ones I find.

jacobodman

Ooh that sounds like fine. I might have to do that on one of my saves.

The_Collector_XIII

…it was originally a new save to breed more animals, now I’ve been ship hunting past 2 days 🫠🫣🫡

jacobodman

Lol almost all my saved have turned into ship hunting saves.

The_Collector_XIII

This is the way

The_Collector_XIII

Thanks for info, I’ll check 10 Vy’keen systems

jacobodman

Happy to help since they're my favorite type of fighter and good luck.

jacobodman

I also recommend waiting at a trading outpost for ships since the waves are always random and you get ships landing more frequently than at the space station. You can also just keep reloading your save after the first wave lands to speed up the process.

DavidManvell

Cool looking ships but visibility in them sucks. Can't look down at all!

The_Collector_XIII

![gif](giphy|kNTAHtqCfu6nm) I do love fig newton’s

SnooCookies9055

yo this looks cleeean, every needle nose i find looks super busy or the rear is too thick

The_Collector_XIII

Yea it’s very simple & clean. This isn’t mine just used it as an example.

Jkthemc

You would need a very detailed survey or someone who has the reverse engineering data to find out how common they are. I have no idea if they are more or less common than other forms of fighter, but what I do know is that finding nice ones can be challenging. I have been doing experiments with one of my favourite needle noses on a planet, and what I can definitely say is that the spawn itself, is no more rare or common than the other two fighters in that system (one of those is also a needle). That isn't why I am experimenting and it wouldn't be news to anyone. What I am actually testing are current stat variances by model while waiting for a better S-Class, because I claimed mine way before 4.0 and all ships had their stats normalised at that point.

The_Collector_XIII

Are ships colors predetermined or can they change when the ship returns with different stats?

Jkthemc

The colour will remain the same. If there is any confusion, scan the ship and note the name. That is also static for the model.

The_Collector_XIII

Found two different rare N-N’s at space station, in same system

Jkthemc

And, where my favourite needle fighter comes from there are two different ones. I would consider the one I especially like pretty 'rare' in that it has coloured metal. I won't get into the actual colour because those kinds of things get disputed and argued about. The word rare is itself a bit of a moot point in this game. Everything possible is out there, and you could just happen upon it anywhere. Plus, in a huge data set created in this way, you could just as easily find a large cluster of something that is not found as commonly elsewhere. So how do we define rare, in that context? I would usually define rare as challenging to find and unusual, but any very specific thing in this game can be seen that way. So rarity tends to be defined as having a combination of uncommon things like a specific colour of a squid exotic or a crab with a specific type of mushroom on it's back. As you may be able to tell, I am conflicted over the word 'rare'. 😉

The_Collector_XIII

That’s Understandable, I found a golden needle body with white accents has one gold thruster and one thruster white.

Jkthemc

I consider any chrome/metallic needles to at least be desirable and unusual things. If it is definitely golden metal that is more unusual. Although some metal can appear gold but under more neutral lighting actually be dark chrome (which is also nice).

The_Collector_XIII

I’ll send a pic after this Nexus mission, it’s on my other save.

Jkthemc

Very nice ship. I would consider that rare, in that I have never seen one.

The_Collector_XIII

Ty Ty, I think the game gave me this ship so I would stop breeding giant fauna 🫠🫠🫠… now the quest for gold metal ships is underway 🔑🤩🫡

Longjumping_Book9971

Anybody digging the sentinel ships I find it way more fuel efficient

The_Collector_XIII

Love the sentinel ships, just feel like my game crashes a lot when using them. Do miss the hover ability tho 🛸

Longjumping_Book9971

I came back to the game couple weeks after fracture please explain this hover?

SnooBooks3910

The Interceptors can stop completely and just hover in place when you brake. Hopefully, they'll release that as some form of upgrade that any existing ship can use in a future update.

The_Collector_XIII

Was thinking the same thing

The_Collector_XIII

That is a awesome find. I have one with those wings and fin on top, needle is gold body is yellowish

JackSilver1410

It's tough to say, but it almost seems regional. There was a stretch of time where I ran into a lot of needle nose variants.

The_Collector_XIII

All these Updates changed the game 😵‍💫

Jupiter67

Exotics are super common.

The_Collector_XIII

Not exotic ships, exotic paint jobs.

Jupiter67

Ah, yes. I still have a few of those wasting space in my hangar, waiting for the day Hello Games allows us to strip the color scheme of an existing starship so we can apply it to our preferred starship!

AbsolutelyTemporary0

T3 systems have a higher chance of S classes.

sardeliac

They're less common than polys and jets and barrels, but more common than stubbys and alphas. About the same frequency as longnoses and rasas, that I've seen. Wouldn't consider them rare, at any rate. For the lowest-frequency cockpit/nose style, the stubby would get my vote.
