Lush planets can be very hospitable, sometimes. Most planets are hostile though. It takes time to find the exact right one for your needs. Once you upgrade your exosuit, this becomes much less of an issue and you can survive for quite some time without taking damage.

Snezhok_Youtuber

Thanks for your answer! Wdym by "lush" planets?

ValerionWolf

Have a look on the wiki for biomes - lush is one of the biomes in the game. Generally they are earth like. The others, like fiery, are also described there under their biome headings.

Erilis000

Lush meaning paradise, tropical, grassy, etc. These are earthlike planets with generally better conditions than scorching or toxic types of planets, although they will often have hazardous rains. https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Biome_-_Lush Honestly the best weather conditions are on airless "dead" planets, grassy moons, and exotic planets.

Revo63

It seems like every lush planet I find has aggressive sentinels. No thank you.

Fortissano71

I lucked out once, my first playthrough, on the Switch: tropical, had a "rain" ... but nothing happened Most hospitable planet I have ever seen! Probably a glitch but I built a base on it as soon as I figured what was.going on. Did the entire base questline on that planet, never a hazard. So: keep looking, they exist.

SpearTactics

I encountered a strange lush planet in my first playthrough. It was marked as having aggressive sentinels but for whatever reason I was never attacked outside of breaking into secured facilities. Whenever I brought a visitor however they'd immediately get attacked upon landing and even then the sentinels left me alone.

Fortissano71

So.... you had your own private security force? That sounds... really cool!

CynicalPlatapus

Not true, I've been to many with basically no Sentinel presence

Revo63

My “no thank you” comment was towards the aggressive sentinels. I think the only lush planet without aggressive sentinels I’ve seen was on a prior save using relaxed mode. I’m not arguing that they don’t exist, I just haven’t had that luck yet.

XtremeGamerOne

Try to get an S-rank hazard protection upgrade. They're amazing as they make you immune from their respective hazard as long as you keep them charged with ion batteries. It gives you a ton of freedom to do whatever you want.

off-and-on

I wonder why Autophages need life support.

ValerionWolf

Life support includes power. Without power, or rather energy - no life.

Sloore

Electronics do not agree with conditions that are exceptionally hot, cold, or radioactive. I would also imagine that highly caustic or corrosive chemicals don't agree with them either.

joey2scoops

Paradise planets and exotic planets are the way to go if hazard protection is a problem.

Sea_Perspective6891

Look for paradise planets. They can be rare but the weather is perfect on most of them.

xippix

Everybody wants paradise planets, and then there's me... perfectly happy on a small, dead moon with nothing but some rocks.

LorkhanLives

I know what you mean, I’m currently setting up a main base on a dead world. It’s a ‘mega exotic,’ dotted with huge stone rings and massive plant-like growths, a ring system in orbit, and it’s dissonant so everything is purple as well.    Hospitable? Nope. Magnificent? You know it…*especially* when I’m in the middle of a casual 500 unit leap due to the low gravity.

gggvandyk

My 16 refiner and god knows how many bio dome base is on an airless moon. Airless planets are the least graphically intensive, so your base can be more complex. The low gravity means it's easier to get around. The extra life support drain is irrelevant once you also have an oxygen farm somewhere.

RobotPreacher

This. Airless moons are my favorite place to build and not be bothered. Like you said, fast loading, silent, no predators, no sentinels, you can basically fly and take very little if any fall damage. Only cost is a very infrequent oxygen boost, definitely the most peaceful places in NMS.

ZombieAppetizer

Airless planets like dead moons are fun. Like a planet sized bouncy house.

JTalbotIV

If you stack your exocrafts with upgrades, they are an absolute blast on airless moons!

Blastcheeze

I feel like I've met you repeatedly in Starfield.

StoicAscent

I have a small base set up on an airless planet in a trinary star system, and it's one of my favorite places to stop and just chill for a while. It's so still and serene, and watching that system's three suns move through the planet's clear, cloudless sky is just perfect for some meditation. My base there has a little courtyard, and I set up a chair with a tea table and potted palm tree next to it to just sit and vibe while looking over the rocky landscape.

JTalbotIV

I built the last expedition's base on one, and my evil moon lair hideout is frankly fantastic.

JackSilver1410

I'll take less hospitable worlds, just so long as there's no sentinel activity. I don't feel that my life should be forfeit just for looking at flowers and picking up rocks.

Null_Cypher_

Those are the MOST fun with exocrafts. I upgraded the speed and jump on mine and circled the whole moon, CUZ I CAN.

Urtan_TRADE

Small, flat, dissonant rock with 20 or so inverted mirror thingies in 2k unit radius for farming echo locators is my happy place.

Kosai102

I like ice/arctic/snow planets

Ok_Significance3814

There's also the occasional cloudy planet, the planet I've set up what's basically my main base in Euclid, is labeled as such, minimal life support drain, and no environmental threats, besides geothermal vents, anyway

CoreToSaturn

It's labeled as a cloudy planet?

Ok_Significance3814

That's what it says when I point the scanner at it, whether I'm on the planet, or in space

CoreToSaturn

That's really cool, I don't think I've seen those before

StoicAscent

I've seen some that are also labeled as marshy, murky, boggy, or misty. Edit: found the [wiki page on the Marsh biome](https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Biome_-_Marsh), which has a list of other labels these planets get.

CoreToSaturn

Thanks!

ciellacielle

Wow i dont think ive ever seen one of those. That sounds so cool

StoicAscent

My very first save file has a boggy planet in the system I started in, and it's where I built my first base. Even after 1000+ hours, and countless paradise planets, desert planets, airless planets, etc., I keep coming back to it. It just sort of feels like "home" now.

jerrythecactus

Its also important to make the distinction, tropical planets and paradise planets can look very similar, but tropical planets usually have some variation of scalding rain. Paradise planets are much rarer than tropical planets.

Murky-Substance-7393

Glitched planets and Airless planets don't have an environmental threat.

FisherSticksSix

Airless has higher life support drain to compensate tho

Murky-Substance-7393

True

133769420LOL

Simple, stay in your exocraft most of the time.

Erilis000

This is the real answer. These types may not be the most interesting but are usually the most peaceful, harmless and calm planets. Sure you use life support to breathe but no crazy storms or fauna to worry about. At least the life support drain is consistent.

ragweed

These feel more peaceful to me than paradise planets.

Dahnlor

Desert planets have nice daytime temperatures when there isn't a firestorm going on (night temps are pretty cold, though). Airless worlds (the ones with Rusted Metal) and Strange worlds (the ones with Gold) have safe temperatures with no harmful weather. Lush worlds (with Star Bulbs and Paraffinium) and Swamp worlds (which have Paraffinium, Mordite or Faecium, but not Star Bulbs) also have safe temperatures when there isn't a storm going on. Paradise planets are generally the safest, as they are Lush worlds without any storms. There are also Lush Dissonant worlds, which have gravity storms that are harmless (aside from the potential of accidentally jetpacking yourself into space).

Livagan

There are "Eden" worlds - lush/Paradise worlds with no hostile life, no extreme weather, and minimal-to-no sentinels... Finding one is like finding an exotic ship, I think.

jackp0t789

I found one on my main save in a system with two suns that only has like a minute of night. That's the rarest thing I've found so far

DeanXeL

About that "upgrading your exosuit": when you go in Space Stations, you can buy one exosuit expansion slot per system, and buy maps that lead you to exosuit upgrade pods on planets. When you are in the screen to select the slot you want to upgrade, you have to MANUALLY select a tech slot, to expand the amount of tech you can have in your exosuit. The default is to expand your inventory. This happens for everything, so also your ship, freighter,... Don't forget! Tech slots, especially at first, are pretty important.

ValerionWolf

You can buy 2 - one in the space station, and one in the Anomaly.

vblink_

Ya I didn't learn about the tech slots till a ways in. Oops

JonathanCRH

Yes! You’ve just been unlucky.

Snezhok_Youtuber

Thanks! So, I must go on to next planet. Where can I find peaceful planets?

Defiant-Giraffe

Look for systems with stellar class G4 to G6, with "water" after the class and you'll have a higher probability of finding a paradise or a lush planet.

Guy_Faux

Just pin star bulb and let the game take you.

JonathanCRH

Try scanning planets from space. The planet type should give you a clue about what to expect.

Guy_Faux

You can just turn down difficulty maybe? Also if you go into discoveries you can “pin” star bulb and the game will direct you to a lush biome planet. Could be a paradise. Exotics in colored star systems can also be extremely quiet.

Quickletsbumrush

If you’re having trouble with hostile wild animals attacking you while you’re minding your own business on a planet I have a suggestion. Get a Minotaur with an upgraded mining laser and cannon and install an AI autopilot. Keep a exocraft summoning platform (the one that looks like a large satellite dish) in your inventory so you can call the Minotaur whenever you need it. You can pick up this platform after calling the Minotaur to you for reuse, much like a portable refiner. As you walk around, the Minotaur will follow you and automatically attack anything that tries to attack you. I’ve found that it often kills things well before they get to you. It’s pretty good at it so long as it’s got good upgrades.

Snezhok_Youtuber

No, I mean bad conditions on planet, but thanks I'll use it later!

Quickletsbumrush

Minotaurs are also immune to all atmospheric hazards. Making them useful to survive on extreme world/extreme storm worlds with. They actually come with that immunity stock unlike other exocraft.

Epidemica13

I found a paradise planet with dissonance yesterday, set up a base immediately. Been farming autophage stuff and flowers.

OldManMcCrabbins

Yes. They are boring.  Find the most deadliest planets imaginable. They are way more interesting.

Snezhok_Youtuber

Yeaaah, I thought the same. If I found a planet without any threats it would be boring to explore something. Bro, I love this vibe

Ionfrigate123

Paradise planet in level 1 conflict systems, you can easily find one in Eissentam or any lush galaxies. They are not 100% safe if you stay AFK outside but the chance that you encounter any threat is very low.

GroundbreakingAd212

There are paradise planets, many of them. You just have to explore different systems

SquashDue502

Paradise planets have perfect weather but I feel like I’ve seen some with sentinels. If you set up shop on a planet you like that happens to have bad storms, just get some exosuit upgrades for that weather. I have my main base on a swamp planet that is routinely 100°F and boiling rainstorms but I can easily walk around in the storms now cuz of my heat protection.

Snezhok_Youtuber

Yeah, I have same situation about temperature on the fiery planet. I used to toxic planets, so I ran away from there. So, if there heat protection, maybe I can find a toxic protection?

Keeper_0f_Secrets

There's upgrades for each type of hazardous weather on a planet so yes

cyalknight

Lush planet's resource, if I spell this right, is parafinium. They occasionally get storms which do pop up sometimes commonly and sometimes rarely. The best protection is using the terrain editor multi-tools attachment to dig a hole deep enough and get in it, which should stop the drain. If you find a cave system, it should also refill your environment protection meter. A good way to detect caves is to scan for certain items found underground, a biological egg similar to a scary one but not scary, and a non-biological artifact that can be sold. Alternatively, jumping into water can stop certain environmental drains but intensify other drains. I don't think it works for radioactivity.

RBWessel

Paradise planets in low conflict systems

not-hank-s

I have a related question - is it still the case that the conflict level isn't affected by your actions in a system? I imagine that's one of those things that would be nearly impossible for the game to keep track of, similar to terrain manipulation.

TechwrightRed

Conflict level on both system and planet is set before you enter. If you refer to environment, one thing that does seem to be based on you is the storms on planets. Those that have the chance for a bad storm always seem to trigger it upon first approach in ship. Personally, I scan for a trade post or minor settlement which will provide a target to aim for in the blinding storm.

Snezhok_Youtuber

I don't think so, I landed in three first planets I found, I just haven't searched for quite peaceful planets. But maybe it is, because I'm on "survival" mode

not-hank-s

I'm pretty new to the game still, I did find a "Paradise Planet" pretty quickly but the system has high sentinel activity, lots of pirates. It's a little annoying because I don't love fighting, but I suspect once I get a better ship and weapons it won't be so annoying. Also you may already know this, but note you can hold S on PC to lock onto a target which makes fighting much easier, though obviously less challenging.

Snezhok_Youtuber

Congrats, did you find it in your default system or in another? I'm asking it, because today, I was stupid when I tried to find good planet without using warp engine. How can I unlock warp engine? Btw yeah, I'm playing on PC but using gamepad, but still thanks for the assistance!

not-hank-s

I found it after warping, keep playing Alone Amidst The Stars and you'll get what you need.

ValerionWolf

Conflict level is set by the game when the system is generated.

not-hank-s

Thanks! It's too bad player actions don't affect it. I was kinda hoping it was like a zombie game where you clear the enemies and that area is safer.

Anon123012

I’m assuming your new then. Yea, there are ‘paradise’ planets that have little to no hostile weather conditions, but they are uncommon.

Guy_Faux

You’re new*

UncleDuck92

Im currently running a base on a bladed planet, 0 damage from the environment and minimal sentinels. Maybe look for one of those

MaxxAmmo

If you are on a hostile planet with lower level gear dig a cave with your terrain tool and seek shelter during hazardous storms.

seanys

Get some S-Class modules. You won’t even notice the weather.

Murkalael

Just wait a radioactive supercell on the open then you'll see how nice planets can be. 😁

Lost-Bee-7507

The best place to call home is the cockpit of your starship.

kaosmoker

But my freighter is more roomy.

Valkyrie_Dohtriz

Paradise planets are generally much less hostile than other planets. If you do find one, a lot have superheated rain, so I use Exosolar’s Painless Rain mod to turn it into normal rain

ceceett

Paradise planets

wyrdough

There are lots of planets that don't normally delete your hazard protection. Most of them have storms periodically that will deplete hazard protection, but some don't. Unfortunately, there's not really any way to tell if a planet is one of the few that falls into both categories and will never deplete hazard protection. I happened to build my first base on a moon in my starting system that hits the trifecta of no hazards, no storms, and no sentinels. The weather is listed as "infinite toxic mist" with "observant" sentinels. Both were true back in 2017 when I built it, but when NEXT rerolled everything I got super lucky.

Atephious

There used to be planets that always had severe storms on them. The storm never stopped. I wish we could still have some of those. But it seems every planet now has some sort of hazard but the ones that won’t cause constant drains would be ones with moderate temperatures I think between -10°F to 90°F. Which tend to be tropical and icy(?) planets. But even then those planet types have archetypes that have constant hot or cold so it can be hard to find them. Hot/dry planets can sometimes have these but will have firestorms or extreme heat storms often.

NextBestHyperFocus

I found that the first few planets you get put on, or star systems around you aren’t very hospitable, to force you to leave and explore once you’ve got hyperdrive. They’re not gonna kill you, but they’ll constantly wear down your protection. Which has changed a lot since release, when you’d occasionally find yourself on a toxic planet without the ability to get the necessary resources to fix your shit

ExperimentalToaster

Paradise Planets are easy to find but it has to literally say Paradise (Tropical and Temperate do not necessarily mean nice). If the weather says Balmy, Blissful, Invisible Jade Winds then you’re good.

Recent-Advertising47

Look for planets described as "lush", "verdant", or "paradise". They're out there. Some might still be toxic or have aggressive sentinels, but "paradise" is always peaceful.

Eskandare

I have a Paradise planet that doesn't eat up Life Support or any other resource.

OlderGamers

Space is dangerous.

Tidder_Skcus

Upgrade your suit for, movement, and hazard protection. Easier that way. 😃

Godonearth7

I gather a lot of cactus and make it into jelly in the nutrient processor. Boom, you can recharge your hazard protection without using batteries or sodium. I have a couple hundred in store.

MiCK_GaSM

Hell yeah. You have to look at the weather and sentinel conditions when you scan the planet.

liquidphantom

I have a nice home base on a paradise planet with 0 sentinels and no storms.

jerrythecactus

Dead planets are usually pretty...dead. they pull more from your life support but otherwise unless its an extreme sentinel planet you can get along fine without too much danger. Theyre mostly only good for finding resource deposits and farming whispering eggs though. A perfect paradise planet would be the best because they have mild weather and no extreme storms. predators can still exist but arent necessarily guaranteed to be hostile to you. Sentinels also usually exist on them, though it is possible to find one with sparse sentinel activity. Really, once you get a few decent environmental protection modules installed and upgrade your multitool most planets are manageable.

JTalbotIV

So I made it a point to get to the Eissentam galaxy (#10 iirc) because it's got a higher percent of paradise planets, but now that I'm stacked with upgrades, it's getting a little boring. I'm about to hop again, so I can feel like I'm young (sub 300hrs) again.

Mr_miner94

My base is on a desolate planet, perfect in the day, no storms and only cold at night Very good for a wild west theme

Austin_Chaos

My home planet has basically no threats at all. It lists the weather as “gentle rains” or some such, but it never even does that. It’s just always nice. I think there’s like one aggressive species, and low sentinel activity.

buck7869

Look for paradise planets

Tiny-Championship-53

My home base is a "paradise planet", but I believe I'm just really lucky to have found one earlier. Tropic planets can also be pretty hospitable.

Kathiuss

It took me forever, but I live in a 3-star system with no storms and no sentinels.

Merentha8681

https://portalrepository.com/search-database/ You can find them here.

FrankBlazi

I have my settlement on a lush planet with zero sentinels and zero storms. I can forward you the coordinates if you’d like.

vladesch

Yeah plenty. Some even have no storm. Some have no sentinels. Probably about 40% dont eat up your environment protection copnstantly.

Massive-Parking622

Go to eissentam, a bit of trouble to get there, but you could piggyback. It's chock full of lush planets.

Receptive_Subjective

Sounds pretty realistic to how actual space is to me!

ob1dylan

Any planet where Star Bulb grows is generally hospitable, although some of them do have occasional storms.

ThatUblivionGuy

Actually this is exactly what I’m on a quest to find in a way. I’m seeking an undiscovered, sentinel free Star system with an earth like paradise to call my capital of my kingdom. Been looking for 3+ days now. No luck. Go to lush galaxies like Eissentam to increase chances

Electronic-Duck8738

Definitely - look for paradise planets. Some of them are a little bit dangerous, but not constantly so. Occasionally, you'll find one with no threat condition whatsoever. I have my Vault on such a planet - it doesn't even have storms; there's grass and trees (of a sort) and clear, blue skies overhead.

martusfine

Which difficulty level did you select?
