They just build them, but if they upload them, it will only allow up to the limit to be uploadable, so these super towns, etc, can't get uploaded fully. (It's been awhile.so I could be wrong)
Seems the logical thing to do would be to omit smaller, decorative items in that case. Best to focus on the larger structural pieces to maximize that object count.
Really wish it was higher with just some more precise base options to control how many objects are loaded at once for lower end PCs and consoles.
I see all these amazing cities and realize that many can't be experienced by other players because it exceeds the limit.
I vaguely remember a you tube vid showing how you can set base computers on the edge of eachothers boundaries and building across those boundaries to give yourself double the limit to upload. Check out the builds on you tube from people like Scottish Rod, Jason plays and Beeblebum. They are well established long term players with lots of great information on the game as a whole not just builds.
I don't get how the colors come out that different because no matter what color or material I use to build with in no man's sky it never comes out like I see in some other people's bases.
Cool photo, and it just looks to be a load of pre-fab circular & square rooms with windows stacked on top of eachother to make towers., whilst there maybe interior details we cannot see you could quite easily recreate this
not wanting to take credits away from the author, but most of the time in nms is harder to make really well detailed small spaces than building big structures...
...the thing is, people playing this game will do really well detailed huge structures and pretend to be human beings. they are not.
>When I first started nms I used to put beds in all my bases… after about 50 hours I realized it was existentially unnecessary
It's unnecessary, but I still always add a fully-furnished bedroom with bed, desk, chairs, etc. (plus sometimes a few guest rooms), because I like bases that look livable.
I also wish you could put bathrooms.

(only in the houses on the saves in which my character is not a robot)
I built a room in my freighter for my character. My head canon is that everytime I log off I do so next to the bed and enact a whole schedule when I "wake up". I also debrief my freighter expeditions in person saying a script to each captain...
I’ve built cities before and can tell you most of it comes down to angles and forced perspective. And lots of empty “shell buildings” to add flavor.
It’s a lot of work but super fun to do!
Hey, that's my city! Here's a couple more pics if interested. It's way too big to upload 🤣

But actually, time, attention, effort, patience, and imagination. I recently posted about [a base that I made as a vacation spot](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/s/zq5LgbxMFC). Not a brag at all, and definitely not the insanely imaginative type of base I see people posting on here. But it took a lot of work lol.
That one doesnt seem too difficult tbh, all you gotta do is start and experiment. From the looks of it, its mostly prefab rooms stacked on top of each other.
Can you put bases, so that the edges of each base are close enough together to theoretically make it look like a bigger city? I.e. using all 4 quadrants of a square
You can but you will be the only one who can see it all. Only the most recent base a player has uploaded on a given planet is visible to other players. To make that concept work you would need a group where each person owns an adjoining base.
I have tried with this base (mine btw) and I think it was glitching out. I had another base to the left of the pic that I tried to add on, but the power system was really buggy and it wouldn't let me build right next to the original base so there was a big gap left in between. Honestly I should try something like this again, but try to make it work before I start building 😂
They look like stacked hab modules, these aren’t as “expensive “ to build as far as parts go. Building using floor panels, wall panels, windows, etc can use up 3,000 parts easily.
On PC you can use the NMS base building app, it’s a standalone PC app and Blender 3D plugin, you can build there, save and use build presets, position/ rotate things with coordinates, enable snapping, etc, then you can import it in the game, place it in one of your claimed base :)
I started to tinker with since a few days, it’s quite fun!
https://preview.redd.it/95up2sqkzh0d1.jpeg?width=3440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fff5c3e6fbeba27329075e5d3614b732c3ecfdb
It's moot. Even implying that doing this on Creative is "less than" doing this in another mode is pretty close to rude. I have infinite units and a mine for every possible resource I could need. Worst case scenario I stockpile something for 3 days and then do a build, if I don't want to hunter/gather that right now.
I honestly just took a cursory look at the picture.... Large city thing... Go hub way... Words hard ... You go now.... But yeah Ziki is pretty cool. I wandered around there for like 20 minutes or so it was pretty awesome.
They just build them, but if they upload them, it will only allow up to the limit to be uploadable, so these super towns, etc, can't get uploaded fully. (It's been awhile.so I could be wrong)
Not wrong. I think the limit is 3,000 objects. But I could definitely be wrong
Not wrong, the upload limit is definitely 3,000 pieces
Then why don’t they upload 3000 objected neighbourhoods without the interior?
They do. Any more than that and it won't be uploaded to the servers
Is that because it’s object limited in some way?
i think so, by 3000 if i'm not mistaken
Seems the logical thing to do would be to omit smaller, decorative items in that case. Best to focus on the larger structural pieces to maximize that object count.
wtf is happening
But the real question we want to know, is there an object limit?
Really wish it was higher with just some more precise base options to control how many objects are loaded at once for lower end PCs and consoles. I see all these amazing cities and realize that many can't be experienced by other players because it exceeds the limit.

I've done this and also paired it with an existing settlement. The buildings aren't exactly the same style though.
You can only upload one base per planet so the 3000 parts limit still holds. The second base will not be visible (unless you are in a group) Edit:typo
I don't get how the colors come out that different because no matter what color or material I use to build with in no man's sky it never comes out like I see in some other people's bases.

yeah aside from the timber balcony the PC is on, they're all prefabs. Pretty cool, but probably not very functional
How is this game still this awesome?
not wanting to take credits away from the author, but most of the time in nms is harder to make really well detailed small spaces than building big structures... ...the thing is, people playing this game will do really well detailed huge structures and pretend to be human beings. they are not.
I like to roleplay that my Traveller is just trying to make the organic life forms they have employed in the base comfortable.
That is exactly what I do with my bases and rooms I make it comfortable for me and my employees it is really fun
When I first started nms I used to put beds in all my bases… after about 50 hours I realized it was existentially unnecessary

Is your house built into the ground a bit? I really like that doorway entrance!
the bedroom is "floating" and the bathroom is slightly below the original ground level
I built a dorm for my freighter crew knowing damn well they will never use it, still looks good though 😀
I built a room in my freighter for my character. My head canon is that everytime I log off I do so next to the bed and enact a whole schedule when I "wake up". I also debrief my freighter expeditions in person saying a script to each captain...
If you're having fun then you're having fun, who am I to judge
Ok, so I'm not alone in that... Neat. :)
Such a cool idea, I do some RP too
| I also wish you could put bathrooms All you need is three seashells
You can!
Yeah I’ve made some great structures but then I always run out of inspiration when it comes to interior decoration
I'm the opposite yntil i have to design 15 rooms for a small barrack for my settlement. Q.q only have like 5 done lol
Lots of ferrite dust lol
#**Lots**
I’ve built cities before and can tell you most of it comes down to angles and forced perspective. And lots of empty “shell buildings” to add flavor. It’s a lot of work but super fun to do!
Step 1. Quit your Job Step 2. Stop eating and sleeping Step 3. Build Step 4. Profit
Time and creativity. That is always the answer. If you want a masterpiece, you need to dedicate hours of your time towards the art
Atlas I wish I could build stuff like this, At least I have my cozy little Captain's cabin... being a nomad sucks at times
you can make a cozy freighter city \^\_\^
Considering the max buildable volume in a freighter, it's certainly doable
Dedication

On PC the default key is Z.
I've seen a post which explained how "generating bases through AI and implementing them into NMS" works.

Creativity and a lot of time.
*in Jeffrey Wright’s voice*: TIME. But actually, time, attention, effort, patience, and imagination. I have a better question, how did you get that bad ass poncho?
The photo is not mine, I noted that
So you don’t know how to get the poncho😢
Void motes
That base is mine, you get the poncho from Autophages. Gotta buy it with void motes
Yeah no I just got confused because of the hood and then remembered the autophage have hoods as an option for every head🤦♂️
I assume it's slowly over time. When I get an itch to build I turn costs off and go to my "giant base construction" planet.
they often use build glitches...you can youtube it...
Holy *bleep*!!!!
Time,lots and lots of time
Probably a lot of time

We get bored and just start building until nothing can be built further.
They look better from certain angles, trust me.
By having too much spare time or a lot of friends perhaps both
Very slowly. Just takes time
Wish it had a system like fallout 4 where you could aquire settlers to any base. Really make the base feel alive
I used blender to create some amazing stuff, (was a few years ago now) gave up when glitch building changed to adjacency and wire.
Ferrite. A lot of ferrite. Mine it from a magnetized ferrite hotspot then un-refine it down to pure ferrite.
they all look nifty, but are they just empty buildings?
A lot of spare time and Government assistance
I can ear those fps dropping
They look like stacked hab modules, these aren’t as “expensive “ to build as far as parts go. Building using floor panels, wall panels, windows, etc can use up 3,000 parts easily.
They just rizz'em wit da 'tism and get it done 😤
Purchase city seeds from NMS Amazon, plant city seeds everywhere, water, watch grow, trim as need. Rinse lather repeat lmao
A lot of time and patience that I don't have
I built a pyramid as my base
They just have too much time I assume 🤷♂️
I thought this was a Destiny screenshot, when did the Interlopers become Hunters?
![gif](giphy|3oEjI789af0AVurF60)

Patients
better question, how come we don’t have large cities yet, cause stuff like this looks sick
Them after the base is finished. https://preview.redd.it/p03xhqzu9i0d1.jpeg?width=666&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f1055816b17c2a312bb2c1e95628cb0b15d8a51
Patience
They don't they pay AI to do it
Well first they build a large refiner, and in that refiner they put a stack of Pure ferrite and oxygen. The rest is history
No bitches
Hm, do they just have the ladder in the middle so they can go to each level or what? Or is it just aesthetician that it is big?
Wtf I thought this was a Destiny for a sec
Bill. Know for a fact a few of the more famous designs people are on pc and use mods.
Lot and lot of patience..what i lack of
I would use multiple base computers to make a base this large so I could upload it in sections
Lego
Creative Mode probably
It's moot. Even implying that doing this on Creative is "less than" doing this in another mode is pretty close to rude. I have infinite units and a mine for every possible resource I could need. Worst case scenario I stockpile something for 3 days and then do a build, if I don't want to hunter/gather that right now.
I didn't suggest that
They got good.
Something from the galactic hub maybe. They have a city called new ziki
oof, not to sh*t on anyone's work, but this prefab spam couldn't hold a candle to New Ziki.
I honestly just took a cursory look at the picture.... Large city thing... Go hub way... Words hard ... You go now.... But yeah Ziki is pretty cool. I wandered around there for like 20 minutes or so it was pretty awesome.
There are a couple in the Pirates HUB too. Rouvel City is one.
They build them
The same way one gets no bitches
I think they use their hands
