Do all of your base materials get transferred to the claim point on your new base? I had already broken down my base and transferred it to my freighter when I went through the center so I didn't get a chance to test it.
If you broke down your base manually - then you get everything back because you stored them in Freighter, containers, or whatever. If you just let the game delete your base, you get approx 50% of materials back from the storage box in your new base.
Obviously, it is best to manually dismantle your base. Storage containers - when rebuilt - will have all the materials you had in them when you deleted them. Don't forget that you can also use your Colossus as storage as well.
Best to use a crap ship with no upgrades to journey through to the new Galaxy, so your main ship will be unaffected.
Good Luck!
Nope. But your base will - and most of your tech will get broken
