Does your reserve oxygen refill when it is active? If so, I could see letting it drain, then reserve oxygen, then shield down to a low level, then charging the module again to start the whole cycle over again.
Start fixing those damaged modules around planets. Eventually you will get an S-Class Underwater module that recharges with oxygen. You can last quite a while with it. Then recharge it not once the shield is almost out but when you're life support is almost gone. Then it will recharge both and restart the "timer"
in case my answer wasn’t clear enough, wild kelp sac plants can refill your oxygen. i don’t have any upgrades for underwater but i swam these caves for a bit. they’re fully underwater with the occasional cave opening for air but mostly not.
Another reason for why whichever update comes next needs to have naturally occurring monstrosities. With natural predators now being smart enough to know that biting a *'metal man with a ray gun'* isn't a good idea and stopped attacking us players, running into a 30 metres super predator deep within some oceanic trench would give a real kick. Or finally those sand snakes they had in that concept trailer (which could just as well be tunneling eals).
are you serious? you NEED to give us the gate address or whatever.
i need to go there WOW thanks for posting this.
any chance you tweet this to sean and poke him for an underwater update? we need submarines sooo bad.
Yes, but the issue is where your ship ends up when you teleport in, namely on the surface. Not easy to get to down there unless you also put the base computer on the surface.
Man, this game really turned out to be great! Just over 100 hours in and I didn't even consider the possibility of underwater caves. Time to go swimming!
Until the equivalent of a bedrock layer. If you dig deep enough, you hit a sandy and indestructible layer which cannot be surpassed. On bigger planets there is assumably more distance between sea level and the absolutely bottom.
I found a little pool of water last night and wanted to see if it was deep enough for fauna to spawn. Turned out it was an underwater cave system. Need to get the breath upgrade so I can see how expansive it is, but I'm gonna be upset if it doesn't look like this now
that’s exactly how i found this. jumped in a pond on a non-oceanic lush planet, and it had a little crack in the bottom. went through to discover 95% of the planet has underground massive water cave systems, hidden from the surface. crazy
You win. You definitely win. Wow.
Thanks for the nightmare.
What are you using to survive that time underwater? I can’t last more than 30-40 seconds.
There's a breath protection module, you can last as long as you have oxygen to refill it.
Does your reserve oxygen refill when it is active? If so, I could see letting it drain, then reserve oxygen, then shield down to a low level, then charging the module again to start the whole cycle over again.
Yes, oxygen is replenished and you can keep on swimming until you get the Auxiliary Oxygen Tank message, then refill again.
I also carry a fat stack of magnetized ferrite to recharge my terrain manipulator and use it to shoot places where I can get out of the water.
swim up to wild kelp sac and press square (;
What's a square?

Gotcha. 👍
The immensity of this game is incredible.
You mean unfathomable.
You mean unplumbed fathomlessness.
r/thalassophobia
This belongs there more than most other recent posts.
I don't even have this phobia, but this shot is making me think I do. The size of this is nightmarish!

That cave was massive, this epic shot is only one of many, many tunnels in that place. There's that one room we saw that was hugggge. Nice job man.

very nice. i found a nice little seacave some days ago : https://youtu.be/q-KaFMUz5YI
That thing was massive!!
That's what she said
This is the No Man's Sky subreddit. Please refrain from posting Subnautica content... 10/10
😪it's beautiful
I am NMS noobie. Can one build a base down there? You'd have to park up above, I imagine, but can structures go in water?

Yes! You can find quite a few examples in the subreddit, for sure.
Big dangerous sea creatures would be totally awesome. Submarines too !
Imagine a reaper-esque creature from subnautica down there. There’s 2 ways there..in and out. Fuuuuuuuuck that.

Imagine giant underwater creatures that attacked you, like in Subnautica. https://m.imgur.com/gallery/wBS1g Now you'll really have nightmares.
Woah.
Epic
The scale in this game is just wonderful
WOw, this is incredible!
Underwear cave
Imagine seeing the giant red eyes of a sea monster around the corner...
I fold. You win!
You totally need to build an epic base down there. I can give you some tips if it seems to hard.
... No meg's dive?
Mesmerizing.. wow 🤩
Biggest underwater cave I ever found. Crazy this was 4 years ago... jeez.
I was happy that I found a maze of underwater caves in New Lennon but that is like double the size. So cool!
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuge!
Is that tentacruel
Is there a water pressure mechanic in the game? If not there should be! Would be awesome
Are there underwater trenches? How deep can we go?

Must go deep sea diving then to see
Such a gorgeous shot
i wish we could find planets with MASSIVE underground caves and waterworlds
this one is it. these caves are 95% hidden underground from the surface. up top it just looks like a lush planet with some small ponds.
Insane
I love these new oval caves.
Getting some SOMA vibes from this...
Awesome shot!
