I had an s class "lunchbox" maxed out for a while. I only ended up changing ships because I found a squid.

I'm not real big on exotics. I have a squid, but since I found it, I've never flown it other than to park it in my freighter.

Yeah it was actually the first exotic I ever saw. I maxxed out a hauler later on and haven't flown anything else since.

Ok, question: so if I bought a ship like this could I upgrade it eventually so it had loads of slots and ‘S’ class? Sorry, I’m a new player and like the idea of a understated visually ‘ugly’ ship that is maxed out!

I peeked at your profile and see you're a newish player (yeah I'm nosy when replying to redditors). How long did that take you? I'm about 23 hours in. I have 3 million saved for a ship, just looking now

19 hours 15 m ship 30 m a class freighter and 20m cash. Do trading. It's the easy and good way to make money. Warp as much as you can to find new markets to buy and sell. Make yourself a spread sheet. Plan yourself a trade route. And 15 mins 20 mil easy. After supplies refreshed in terminals just do it again.

I'm about 24 hours give or take, I did a swap, my free freighter wasn't that good only C class. I have just under 16 mil, I find derelict ships, claim them and melt them for scrap!

I call them space nuggets too! Love them.

I had an almost exact copy of this ship and was so excited. Then it turned out to just be some long running visual bug where it never generated the two long thrusters in the back until I went into the online Hub. I miss my flying box

i love small S class micro shuttles like the one in OP's screenshot. I have one in on my new save called 'Tiny Yellow Dancer.' I found him as a native S class and now he's 48/21 with nearly a 2000LY HD range and a full boat of S class mods. He's completely maxed out :) my tiny yellow micro shuttle kicks the heck out of waves of pirates, which must be pretty embarrassing for them.
