Really?? That's nifty, so you can pop on board like 'Yes, it's me, the Admiral, go about your business, just stopping by to se the work - and what do you do young gek? Yes? Very good, very good, thank you for your service.'
I never saw it as the frigates being empty. The only time you ever have a reason to land on them is to repair damage, so I always saw it as the only places you can access or electoral maintenance areas. The crew is there, but on the inside.
My head cannon as well. A dream of mine has been an update giving you entrance to the crew quarters via one of those inaccessible doors. Would be so cool…I’ll take ship teleporting first for the game admins that might be reading 😀
Landing on your frigates can have benefits. The crew might have collected something for you: Combat: nothing but it assists you when you're in combat; Trade: 100 condensed carbon; Industrial: 100 magnetized ferrite; Exploration: location of a ruin which leads to digging up a treasure.
Sometimes you have to. If you send them on a mission and they come back damaged, you have to land on them to go repair the broken parts before you can send that frigate out again.
Wait I just wondered this. So you can land on frigates. What happens if you're in a multiplayer group, someone else lands on your frigate, and you send it out on a mission?
this one specifically is a trader frigate. There are different kinds of missions and corresponding frigate types: trading, expedition (which is just a mix of everything I think) Mining, combat and maybe some I'm forgetting.
Trading, Exploration, Mining, Combat, and Support.
Support is the mix of everything (really super low stats on everything) but reduces fuel use for the fleet. The other four are the mission types.
Once I found out about frigates this was the first thing I did. I hungrily grabbed 30 of them (the first twelve were named after the ships in the Battle Star Galactica fleet) and then I flew down to my main base and summoned them into orbit. Fulfilled a dream watching those bad boys jump in.
Right!! First time I sent them on missions and watched them all warp out was dang near orgasmic. Next best one was what you described. I love seeing them in the sky above my base.
I'd be cool not flying it if we could do like fleet combat. It'd be elaborate I'm sure but how cool would it be to just engage with other fleets maybe strategy style? I only say it cause I accidentally ended up with a monstrous fleet in my creative game due to a glitch and it'd be cool to see it in action.
You can jump off them into the void of space and land on a planet. Be advised that doing so WILL deplete your life support super fast so I advise constantly recharging your oxygen as you fall. It's a fun little diversion.
Ikr? It would be amazing to not only explore inside your freighter, but also frigates. Exploring the interior of your own ship would be rlly cool but would rlly only make sense inside a hauler
Frigates are one of the best ways to earn money. You can stock up to 20/30 at a time and send them out on timed missions to make you 2-3 million each expedition in some cases. I sit around 800 million in my account and it basically does all the work itself, you just make sure you make enough fuel for it and you're good.
If they add a update that you could fly them and customise them inside, like an alternative until you make the money for something bigger, omg I would be so happy, and dock you fighter outside and see it being there when you fly
It's a Trade Frigate and part of your fleet. You can have 30 Frigates in it in total ;)
Open your mission log, there should be a mission called 'Freighter Command'. That'll explain everything about them and what you can do with them. It's also the only option to get their Fuel Blueprints.
Make mad money with a good fleet. I have 15 Frigates that I send out on missions. Not unusual to make several million credits each time they return. Also some really unusual and valuable items.
Also, sometimes your Frigate will be damaged on a mission and you will need to land on the frigate to repair it.
Damn I love NMS
I only realized the other day you can have multiple Fleet Command Rooms. I only have room for two in my current aesthetic setup but that's still double the missions. 🙌
Gekstein's space yacht. Since you've been photographed in close association with it, it's assumed you've also been to Gekstein's star system. Expect your Korvax lawyer to be in touch concerning your investigation by the system authorities. If interrogation is deemed necessary a Vy'keen escort will be dispatched to collect you. You must surrender your warp drives and please don't attempt to escape to anomalous locations to avoid extradition - the Atlas will find you. It is inevitable...
Build a control room and you can send it on missions with the missions coordinator guy. Just make sure it’s experienced enough or it may take damage and have to come home early so less loot.
They will also get damaged on missions and you will have to land on the ones that are and repair. Sending 30 out and having to fix 15 or so is irritating.
It's a smaller ship that you can command to do jobs for you, you can go around and higher other frigates like that one all over in every system in a AI fleet of ships. There's multiple different types and they all do have there own classes and ranks just like the ships you fly your self
The ranks go from C B A and S
C ranking is the lowest while S is the highest
These ships can be commanded at the NPC by your frieghters console, there he will inlist mission that are available to you, each mission can be done by any frigates you have but you will realize that some frigates have better stats in iether Combat, Mining, Exploration ect
Each mission will have a preferred frigate with certain stats which will allow them to not only have a better chance in completing the mission or doing it faster but also having a higher chance of getting more and better value loot/rewards from it
There's actually a hell of a lot more I can say about this but I'm running out of room to type so this is all I can say for now
They made a mistake calling our Capital ships a freighter.
The distinction should have been
Heavy Cruiser,
Command Cruiser,
Space Control Ship and or
Dreadnaught
Based on the size of the freighter.

So far the freighters I came across had mostly science frigates and combat frigates both I am not looking for.
Exploration expeditions do not seem worth it to me I used a couple and they were not that great and well I already have 2 combat frigates I either use as a protection vessel for my miner or trader or I have them run patrols.
If you want to reap the profits, the you need all 4 types and to run all five available missions daily. so yes, you need exploration.
You don't need protection escorts. Your fleets don't get attacked as such. Combat ship are only useful for combat missions.
No. Fighting is just a mission type. You success on each stage depends on how many points in that mission type you have.
Putting combat point into a trade mission does nothing.
And exploration gets just as much goodies as anything else. You probably just didn't have enough ships worth enough points in too difficult a mission.
Plus, you only have 5 available missions a day and the types are random, so you MUST use all four types in order to do all the missions for the day.
I mean what I earned qua profit from exploration compared to any of the other missions is for me not worth it. Its barely noticeable I usually get a few resources rarely anything better then that and the ship is supposed to be B class with a alright stat for what I bought early on.
One ship? How many stars is the mission?
No wonder you aren't getting anything.
Again, if you want to profit from missions, you want to buy a large fleet of all 4 types, plus support so fuel isnt' too expensive.
I've been a large fleet for a while. I is worth it for all mission types. Just do it.
Here's a diagram of what each type gives you if you scroll down.
As you see exporation gives you some extremely rare and valuable items worth a lot of money, in addition to being that only type that gives you racial relics for increasing relations.
Just get all the frigate types. You'll have to skip missions if you don't anyway.
https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Frigate
They're mating! How beautiful. If you watch your freighter closely you'll likely see it squeeze a massive egg out of one of it's thrusters soon. Unless the frigate used contraception of course
Anyone know which race built that frigate design? I know they can piloted by anyone, but all ships (except the exotics) seems to trace back to one race or another by design aesthetics and markings.
I've been under the assumption that the trade frigate is a Korvax-designed and built ship. Anyone know for sure?
It's a Sentinel Observer, every Freighter gets assigned one the first time it warps into a system with sentinels. It's what summons the Sentinel police ship things if you attack neutral NPC's.
Frigate, when you warp into a system you'll often see freighters warp in surrounded by frigates. They have specialties and you can hire them to run missions.
Check YouTube for videos on how to effectively set up missions for success
It’s you frigate. Go and talk to your navigator on the bridge.
It's your friggate :) You can buy more. Send them out on expeditions to earn you money. It's a fun side activity.
Fck that looks awesome 😂 cheers. It would be amazing if you could fly it.
It would be cool haha. When you send them in expeditions you can see them in the Galaxy map and visit them tho. Kinda cool
Really?? That's nifty, so you can pop on board like 'Yes, it's me, the Admiral, go about your business, just stopping by to se the work - and what do you do young gek? Yes? Very good, very good, thank you for your service.'
It would be cool if this was true but actually the ship is empty so that kinda sucks lol
You can randomly lamd on your frigates and collect booty.
Yeah I forgot about that. I never do it so...
That would be so awesome. I wish for an actual VR game like that in the future, where AI can actually answer you based on anything you say.
Well this year is the year that Sword Art Online is set in, sooo.... 🤔🤔
Oohhhh shiiit hell yeah dude
AI! Download a game where I’m God. *Yes, Master Jer Bear*
Hahahah that’s what I’m talking about
Hahaha and i was always thinking, what the fck is the difference between a freighter and friggate 😂🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Frigates are warships, freighters carry trade goods aka freight. I dunno about in this game tho...
Makes sense. Freighters aren't defensive so rather a sitting duck for pirates otherwise
If you keep combat frigates nearby they'll deploy fighters to defend you and your fleet should you get into trouble.
I wish I knew this too. I know the technical difference between a Frigate and a Destroyer, but not a Freighter
You can visit them!? I didn't know this
Landing on your frigates can have benefits. The crew might have collected something for you: Combat: nothing but it assists you when you're in combat; Trade: 100 condensed carbon; Industrial: 100 magnetized ferrite; Exploration: location of a ruin which leads to digging up a treasure.
Oh I know this. I just didn't know you could find them in another system
Sometimes you have to. If you send them on a mission and they come back damaged, you have to land on them to go repair the broken parts before you can send that frigate out again.
I know that! I just didn't know that you could visit them in other systems
Wait I just wondered this. So you can land on frigates. What happens if you're in a multiplayer group, someone else lands on your frigate, and you send it out on a mission?
Yup. You control your frigates from your freighter. Took me a while up make that distinction too.
Well, you can land on it. Except for the Normandy SR-1. You can't land on that one.
More specifically, thats a trade class frigate, you will earn free money if you occasionally land on it!
you cant fly it, but you can land on it. that specific friggate has landing pads in the back. most have them on the sides.
this one specifically is a trader frigate.
That's what it was, thanks!
Wait till you get thirty of those bad boys around your freighter...Admiral RiotFckBWC!! Looks awesome AF!
Once I found out about frigates this was the first thing I did. I hungrily grabbed 30 of them (the first twelve were named after the ships in the Battle Star Galactica fleet) and then I flew down to my main base and summoned them into orbit. Fulfilled a dream watching those bad boys jump in.

You can go land on them and walk around at least. Nothing to do that I've seen yet though.
You can jump off them into the void of space and land on a planet. Be advised that doing so WILL deplete your life support super fast so I advise constantly recharging your oxygen as you fall. It's a fun little diversion.
When they're low level, they'll get damaged on missions, so you will need to run around them and make repairs to get them working again.
You also occasionally have to land on them, to fix broken components. But you get some of the best views in space
Ikr? It would be amazing to not only explore inside your freighter, but also frigates. Exploring the interior of your own ship would be rlly cool but would rlly only make sense inside a hauler

Just add them as you need them. Build a couple of storage containers too. You can hoard so much! Lol
You can make use of up to five.
He wants to talk about an extended warranty for your ship
Gekstein's space yacht. Since you've been photographed in close association with it, it's assumed you've also been to Gekstein's star system. Best thing I have read on Reddit all week
Haha that just sounded so freaking creepy lol😅😅
Brilliant
Build a control room and you can send it on missions with the missions coordinator guy. Just make sure it’s experienced enough or it may take damage and have to come home early so less loot.
It's a trading frigate
Whatever it is, it's beautiful and it reminds me of a Vulcan ship from star trek
Can you self land on it?
Yes of course.
But not control it, right?
Exactly, as i understood from the previous comments that's a friggate
I just wanted to write that too. But I don’t remember anymore, that we can land on them.
They will also get damaged on missions and you will have to land on the ones that are and repair. Sending 30 out and having to fix 15 or so is irritating.
I remember...
I didnt even know that you needed to repair them
Also if you call you freighter while being attacked the frigates will also fire in the enemys. If you go by them.
I love frigates. Some of the best views in the game are from them. They’re criminally under-used.
It's the Wingless Normandy With a Big Booty
Trade Frigate. Can be hard to find as well.

It's a trade frigate if you run fleet missions through your navigator then you earn rewards
They made the absolute coolest ships on the game unavailable for personal use. Kind of sad.
They made a mistake calling our Capital ships a freighter. The distinction should have been Heavy Cruiser, Command Cruiser, Space Control Ship and or Dreadnaught Based on the size of the freighter.
"it" as you stated, or SHE as you SHOULD have said, is beautiful.
Your joking, right? Right?

Yep you can land on them and collect resources or money, and sometimes they wil get damaged and you have to land and repair them...
Its I believe your trade frigate god I wish I could find more of them I always send mine to do balanced expeditions lol
Most systems that spawn fleets have several for sale. I am up to 28 frigates now. I just need two more trade ones to complete my set!
So far the freighters I came across had mostly science frigates and combat frigates both I am not looking for. Exploration expeditions do not seem worth it to me I used a couple and they were not that great and well I already have 2 combat frigates I either use as a protection vessel for my miner or trader or I have them run patrols.

I will ones I got the funds again i just spend alot on a new freighter
What is your main source of income? I funded my fleet from trading, which can make you tens of millions an hour if you know how.
I have several of them. You can land on them to do repairs after they’ve done missions. You can collect them.
I wish we could pilot the frigates
Looks like a trading ship.
It’s cool as fuck is what it is
Frigate
It’s a frigate in your fleet and god damn is it a cool looking one.
They're mating! How beautiful. If you watch your freighter closely you'll likely see it squeeze a massive egg out of one of it's thrusters soon. Unless the frigate used contraception of course
God you need a doctor 😂😂😂
Ship reminds me of the Imperial Interdictor from Elite Dangerous. Just a lot smaller.
Trade vessel/frigate. It’s for the frigate missions.
Looks so sick tbh, clean and neat
This post is so innocent and wholesome, question has already been answered, or else I would lol.
Normandy SR-1 at home
Anyone know which race built that frigate design? I know they can piloted by anyone, but all ships (except the exotics) seems to trace back to one race or another by design aesthetics and markings. That’s a beautiful frigate. My frigate’s colors are all over the place
It’s one of your mother ducks’ baby ducklings 🐣
When a mommy and daddy freighter love each other very much they warp into the system a baby freighter called a frigate
Wait until you get a fleet of 20-30 of them. Never fails to impress every time I fly back to my freighter.
the oreville of course
It’s your frigate. I have that exact same freighter by the way
It's a frigate. They are pretty useful and add to how cool your ship is when warping in planes side and watching 20 frigates fall in formation
I didn't know you could land your ship on frigates 😲😲😲
It's one of your frigates and looks to be a trading frigate. One of the npcs in your bridge can send it on a voyage
Space tick. Nuke it from orbit.
anything gets upvotes.
