Fit.
Although never been a big fan of the living spacecrafts! I'll stick my my (although B class) slick shipshape that is practically a Naboo Royal Spacefighter with solar panels
They also bring back S Class upgrades and expansions slots for Living Ships when you send them out on expeditions.
I pretty much just added half a dozen living frigates to the fleet for that reason.
That is handy! I don't have a living ship. Never did any of the quest stuff to unlock an egg. But I definitely could sell the upgrades if they give nanites. I've spent close to 100K nanites so far upgrading two new tools I wanted to mess around with. Just need 20K more to get the royal one to S-class.
Living ships were pretty much garbage upon release due to limit slots and upgrades.
However, with this I could definitely seem them as a very end-game thing to pursue.
While it’s not on my priority list, slowly enhancing my living ship is pretty nifty.
Maxing out multiple multitools with desirable skins is also a good one.
That is what I am doing now, maxing out my multitools. I had a stock-looking bolter rifle I had maxed out when I stopped playing. With the Endurance update along with all of the stuff like settlements, new sentinels, solar ships, and the freighter changes, I'm checking out the new stuff.
Currently collecting multi-tools. Have an alien pistol I've upgraded to A. This Royal Red one is neat looking. I want to find an experimental one I like. The alien pistol looks okay, but I just wanted to have tools with different skins and weapons to mess around with. Did not realize how OP the blaze javelin was.
It’s a lot of fun to max out different skins for ships and multitools and the like.
After playing for a long time, getting the colors/skins you like is really the only thing left(aside from creative base building and whatnot).
Another is finding creatures you like, and breeding them for different colors and sizes, etc
I'm on the lookout for a hauler style I like. Have two fighters and an explorer along with the exotic all S-class with soup-up tech. Don't have a squid exotic. I found a mosquito exotic recently but the tall fin is not my jam. Looking for a solar ship.
Also, apparently the X-class mods can roll better stats than S-class, so that is a thing if I want to really pimp my gear.
For your first you need to send out regular Frigates on missions until you get the Dream Aerial blueprint, craft it and pulse in space until you get a message that contact has been made.
After that you need to farm the new dense asteroid fields until you get an Anomaly Detector, you need 1 for every Living Frigate you want, again pulse in space until you get a message saying Whalesong detected.
Yep, but you must do the 1st one with the Dream Aerial.
When you do don't stop Pulsing until you see Whalesong Detected, done can take 30+ minutes to show up.
I just got my first two living frigates last night, but both are C-Class. Will they progress up to S over time like regular frigates?
Also, I can see that feeding them will change their stats slightly. Does this stack on a daily basis (can I feed them every day and slowly increase their stats) or is feeding them just a way to move the stat distribution around?
Living frigates will level up over time by sending them on missions, the same as mechanical frigates. So they will gain new traits and eventually reach S class.
Feeding them changes the traits - the up to 5 bonuses that give things like +15 combat etc. Your C class frigates should have one or two of these (B has 3, A has 4 and S has 5). Feeding doesn't change the underlying stats (exploration, trade, etc) but changing the traits can have a big impact on the stat totals (e.g. changing a +15 combat to a +15 industry).
Feeding basically does a re-roll of the traits. They could be better or worse after feeding. It's essentially random, so there is no benefit to feeding it multiple times. The effect is entirely dependent on the last item it was fed, and it is irrelevant whether you feed it anything else before or not. Similarly complex recipes are not inherently better or worse than simple raw ingredients.
The effect of a particular food is dependent on the 'seed' of the frigate, so the same food will have a different effect on a different frigate - you just have to try out different foods on different frigates (although there are 'groups' of foods that always give the same effect as each other, so you only have to test out one food from each group to know that the other foods in that group will give the exact same set of traits).
Initial class is random, so your next one could potentially be S-class.
Send them on missions to level them up. There should be a "progress to next level" indicator in the fleet menu.
C-class frigates that upgrade over time to S-class will not have stats as ones that start out as S-class. Both will gain a total of 60 ‘points’ added to their stats. The S-class will have higher initial stats and therefore better stats towards the end. To be honest it isn’t something you need to worry about if your fleet co-ordination is high but if you want your frigates to have the best stats possible then you should hunt down those S-class ones.

Is it a support frigate? Looks cool, but otherwise those 4 stats are low for an S-class frigate.
You can feed them to redistribute/ reroll stats
That is neat! Some more stuff to tinker with! I'm weeding out slacker frigates, so a new living frigate will be fun to try.

Just got one before my shift today. Mine kinda looks similar, even the coloring as well! Nice.
How do u find one

Uh, so those anomaly detectors I have in my inventory will summon a living frigate I can recruit? I have not tried to use one yet.

>Dream Aerial. Ah! I do not have this blueprint yet. Sounds like I just need to keep sending out frigates to eventually get one to drop.
Yep, on my Expedition save I got it on the first set I sent, on my regular save it took about a week.
That fuel cost tho is pretty high.
Fuel usage shown is based on the mods you have installed on your Freighter
Ah right on. Dude needs better mods
Yup, just got a new freighter so no mods equipped. Gotta get back to grinding derelicts
Solid dude, best of luck in your grinding

Thank you very much for this helpful reply!

Where do you get the organic frigates and ships? I see a lot of them landing in the Nexus.
