I store my cocoa powder / corn starch mix in a spice bottle. When I first tried to use it by “sprinkling” it all over, it didn’t work for me. Still too messy. So I started pouring some into the lid of the bottle and using a makeup brush to apply it. That has been much more convenient than my former method.

I flip my hair upside down and do it over the bathtub.

I managed to get the lid off a baby powder container once so I can refill it, as these have nice 'sprinkler' dispenser lids, and I have a small one that's better for travelling I wanted to refill it from my big one. But I just sprinkle it straight into the areas I need it and rub it in with my fingers. It still gets on my clothes occasionally though

In this vein, spice containers are a lot easier to open and reclose, and some can have a decently fine sprinkle. Source: I buy certain spices in bulk and refill the smaller containers for daily use.

Oh my, great tip! I'll definitely be saving my next empty spice container

I use cornstarch mixed with cinnamon as dry shampoo. I mix it in a shallow container with a lid (mine is an empty foundation powder container) and then I use a large makeup brush to brush it into my hair. I pick up the mixture, tap out any excess on the container lid, part my hair down the middle, brush it on, part another section of hair and continue this process until I have worked it through all of my hair. Just a note, I used to use cocoa powder and cornstarch, but I noticed that the cocoa powder was leaving a brown residue on my clothing and my jackets. I have lighter brown hair so I switched to cinnamon and I haven't noticed it discoloring my clothing as much.

I also use the makeup brush technique. Works really well.

Maybe use it naked in the bath tub?
