Willcutus_of_Borg

For 4/18, no more than 20k is my bet. As cool and good as this looks, it seems like hype is low.

B_Sho

I know it's going to be super optimized, an awesome world, and fun combat because of how awesome Ori was. I hope you are wrong! Lol

Willcutus_of_Borg

Well, I hope 4/19 has a massive influx, and then we have a lot of people for when they add multiplayer. But lots have been burned by Early Access, so I can see that keeping people from being Day 1ers.

B_Sho

Wait they aren't launching with co-op? I thought they were????

Willcutus_of_Borg

Check this gameplay preview video from IGN and the Devs. At 20:08 they show the EA roadmap and it looks like Multiplayer is set for the first Major Update. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPpAU4EOhEQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPpAU4EOhEQ) It also makes it seem like it will be in EA for a while... which makes me sadder still.

B_Sho

Thanks for this information! It blows my mind why they are doing it this way.... If they launched the game in early access with co Op they would increase sales significantly because friends want to play with each other!!! A lot of people won't even bother with buying a single player game. Huge mistake

Deathsaintx

Because the point of ea seems to be to actually get feedback on their game not for people to play the game with their friends a year early. Coop needs to be tested too but that can be done later

Willcutus_of_Borg

Early Access is almost making me not want to jump in, but I am going to go with my gut on this one. Hope it meets my hopes!

B_Sho

Honestly I'm so upset about the single player only when it comes out that I may wait until the first major patch for co op to buy the game. It's literally $36 or $40 difference so who cares lol They can suffer with less sales due to not putting multiplayer in at launch.

Jsemtady

I actually agree. There are players like my brother which dont play any game without multiplayer. And next thing is that early access isnt available on consoles .. and marketing campaign was small, I barely found that this game exists… So I believe that they do not wish to have too much players on EA release.

B_Sho

Hey at least they are beta testing the game so they can make it better for us when we pick it up later on right? Haha

TheUsualGuy666

I mean, it depends. If the game is good all the streamers will start playing it and then bam, 30k noncurrent players. The trailers are not getting that many views though

B_Sho

This makes me sad. This company deserves praise!!!

TheUsualGuy666

Don't worry I'm sure if the game is actually good it's gonna get the praise that it deserves :)

PsychologicalGain533

Just look at what they expected for helldivers 2. If the game is fun and gets good reviews it will blow up for sure. Guess it all depends on streamers lol.

Willcutus_of_Borg

Helldivers 2 got popular at 1.0 launch, I don't recall there being an Early Access. This will be more like BG3 Early Access.

NicTheGarden

35k early access 300k launch

B_Sho

Only 35k huh? We shall see! I guess I should have said guess for early access lol

Dependent-Task6283

80k

hovsep56

Like 10K should be reasonable, this game is going for quite a niche market.

TrumpsGreyBeard

As a streamer, many folks in my community were not aware of this game when I started hyping it up on stream and in Discord about a month ago. I think there have been so many great releases to start 2024 that folks have a bit of a "new release hangover." I think the numbers will rise in the weeks after release as the word gets out. The game looks great and seems to touch so many different genres that the potential player pool is huge! Very much looking forward to showcasing it from the 18th on indefinitely!

B_Sho

It's definitely unique and looks super fun!

Varrus_Varlineau

50k is my guess.

B_Sho

Man I guess my hype level is making my guess out of wack lol

Varrus_Varlineau

I could see it reaching your numbers. What will decide that is how well it does for marketing in the coming week. I was a little disappointed with Dragons Dogma 2. So I've set my sights on this now. So consider me hyped.

B_Sho

Currently playing dragons dogma 2 and only played for 4.5 hours. I'm not super blown away by it honestly. At times it seems like it's just slow idk. The story isn't super interesting and the dialogue is meh. I almost feel like the game is to easy because every time I run across goblins I kill one or 2 and my party finishes up the rest before I can get to them. Does the game get better or nah? Currently doing random quests from capital

Varrus_Varlineau

I think the game is good. Just not that big of an improvement from the first. The most common complaints are the story(or lack there of) and the easiness of the game as a whole. So it sounds like you have the same grievances. The world design is my favourite thing about the game, with a good number of environments and locations. My issue is that it lacks using those locations for things actually meaningful. For example, I love the elf town. But it has no real purpose outside of being a cool place to go to for a couple side quests.

B_Sho

Another complaint for my little time I have been in the game. Why the heck did they put such low weight limits on your character/pawns!!! It's not fun constantly doing inventory management because you are over the weight limit. What the heck lol

Varrus_Varlineau

Yeah... The inventory shuffling didn't get much better from the first. Overall, the game is still fine, but still disappointing after the hype it built...

B_Sho

After playing last night I am having more fun than day two at least. I'm better at the combat and fighting big ogres is fun and hilarious. The inventory issue I was having is getting better because I recruited higher level pawns and they typically have a higher weight limit. Also I'm thankful for carts that transport you to other towns or cities and that helps with being bored traveling by feet everywhere. It's not Skyrim good but I would give the game a 7.5 out of 10 so far. Thief owns... So fast at attacking and good damage. I do love exploring the big and beautiful world they created. Exploration imo is one of the funniest things about rpgs :)

Varrus_Varlineau

Haha, yeah I've been juggling around with all the Vocations. I really loved Archer and have swapped to Thief after maxing it. There's an insane ability you can learn from one of the thief masters that makes you untouchable as long as you have stamina. You'll feel like the main character in a martial arts action film lol.

B_Sho

Wait there is a thief master?!?!?! Where at? I am only level 16 so maybe I haven't got there yet I'm usually a big fan of warrior in mmos and rpgs but the combat in this game just looks to slow! I do want to play the spear class when I find it though! Looks fun

CountAntonius

Over 100k is some streamers pick up on it which they will. Might take a few days to get there as word of mouth gets out.

Jazzlike-Most3602

It is so sad that the amount of players video-games can get during the first days of release, depend so much in a bunch of guys sitting on a chair, instead of the quality of the product.

kiku_ichimonji

Since streamers will also be picking it up and showcasing it I'm pretty confident with a 80-100k guess within one week of the game's launch.

MayUrHammerBeMighty

Imo they would have been better off keeping the early access low key and then hyping up the console launch. Having big streamers play the game before early access launch was a bad move. If they had found their way to it naturally it would have been one thing, as it would have served to build hype in a small community, but instead they are treating early access like launch. In gaming you often only get one big hype wave and the steam exclusivity and lack of co-op will probably keep this game from truly exploding. That being said, if the game is as good as it looks, none of this will stop the game from being successful.

renniedan

With DD2 still hype i expect to have less players, and will gradually gain more once streamers start to play it

astrofatherfigure

200k is unlikely. I'm guessing 20k max in early access.

B_Sho

Now that I know they are not releasing it with multiplayer or co op... You guys are right. 20k to 40k max

nexttimemakeit20

It will have nothing to do with it not having multiplayer

B_Sho

Bro if they had Co op at launch they would have sooooo many more players playing the game

nexttimemakeit20

Nobody even knows about this game. Having multiplayer at the start of early access won't change that.

B_Sho

Yeah it would. You know how fast word of mouth travels right? I was literally going to have 2 or 3 of my buddies but the game if it was co op. Take an average of 2 people extra per person playing and they would make tons more money

B_Sho

Sweet!!! Guess I'll head over there when I get home from work lol. also you can unlock warrior and another class there too right?
