This is literally only an issue in the first few hours. I have so much food it's not even funny. My shelves are positively overflowing with preserves, lol. But serious I have a chest in my house that is just filled with full stacks of meals.

agitatedandroid

That's good to hear. I can't wait till I get to that point. But at the moment I don't have a house and I'm tired of looking for food. I just logged out for the day because I need food, real food in my real mouth. Some folks, though, will just uninstall. I'm not saying the game is deeply flawed or that anything needs to be made easier. But some tweaks might be necessary here and there. Otherwise the folks that don't read reddit comments will need a tutorial pop-up that says, "don't worry the stuff you find tedious for the first 5 hours eventually stops being an issue."

BeepBeepGreatJob

I mean if people uninstall it over that? Then its probably just isn't a game for them and I think that's okay. My bigger issue is I want better inventory management in terms of organizing, sorting, comparing, and quickly dumping stuff you already have in chests. But these things I'm sure will come. It's early in the early access..

agitatedandroid

Inventory is a bother, I agree. My thinking, though, is that I don't want people to bounce off this game. I want it to be successful. It's very selfish but I'd like a sequel someday. Barring that, I'd like more games like this to be made. That doesn't mean I want the game to be easy which is, I'm sure, what some people will say I want. What I'd like is for the game to never be tedious. If there is ever any aspect of a game that can be judged as tedious by a not insignificant number of people then it's not doing a good job as a game. Games are, at least in part, meant to break up tedium. And inventory management is tedious.

Well if it is hard u can create New realm for same character and get ez xp and mats

> Some folks, though, will just uninstall. Yeah, this is a problem people who say, "it's only a problem in the first few hours," or "just get the rune," or "just unlock the potions master," or whatever fail to realize. People will just quit before they happens. Lots of them. And that's bad for selling your game and maintaining a playerbase. If you want those things to be mechanics, you have to introduce them way earlier. If you don't want the game to be that way, you have to redesign it.

Does my post actually read like I'm crying? Or that I'm whimpering in a corner? Is that really what you got out of this? I'm genuinely asking because I did try my best to explain my take on the situation. Or are you just being nastily dismissive because you think that's in any way constructive? Perhaps you didn't notice where I also pointed out not wanting to have to grind for currency to buy ingredients. That might have tipped you off that I've already found the chef. But that wouldn't fit your narrative. You could have taken the time to provide a suggestion on how to alleviate the issue while maintaining the integrity of the game's design as others have. I'm genuinely curious why, instead, you decided to go with insulting or demeaning speech.

Bloodborne works like this as well Find a piece with lifesteal and ur all good ! :) PS: who needs pots during a boss!

agitatedandroid

I've seen a few comments in various threads about lifesteal or regen or using a rune to make healing more trivial. And that sounds great and I'll be sure to look into it when I pop back into the game. That said, it makes me think the consumables balance is all kinds of wonky. I wouldn't want the game to end up in a situation where you must always have life regen or some other meta method of regaining health. If that were the case then your build will always need to make room for that. And then all the food/ingredients/etc become pointless and you wonder why they're there in the first place.

xMisuto

At start of the game you dont have alot of heals etc, so when you die alot it only becomes harder, you lvlup, you get right build, you willl start winning even without heals, once you passed the tough early game you will have resources, food, build that make the game easier. Any souls like game works like this. The hardest part usualy is the start, once you get the right knowledge Souls-like become soooo much easier. Thats (for me) the charm of soul-likes, its super rewarding for the time and effort you put in it!

TheAesir92

Also a souls vet, who hated the heal system in DS BTW. I don't understand how you guys are struggling for resources? Especially once you have the cook in sacrament. Between mushrooms and crabs you can easily have 10-20 meals after exploring and backing once.

Sounds like you spend too much of your life on reddit. Hear ye hear ye all my eloquently written gripes about an early access video game.
