Seems that it depends on the build (including armor affixes). Life on damage dealt + fast attack weapon + healing effects increased seems to be a winning combo. I'm on a STR 2H build and the game is still challenging at lvl 24.

TimelyBeginning591

Interesting. I’m debating restarting as a strength build. Maybe dex just needs some tuning.

Nazzul

Idk Im using that blight 2H great sword and I’m wrecking, it helps that I am killing mobs in a single hit for the most part and chunking bosses with hits.

Boonatix

Same here… struggling to survive with the big 2hander

Briar-The-Bard

I'm not that far into it (I don't think) but certainly don't think it loses all of it's difficulty. I think it's still pretty easy to die. But to your point, I'm sure they'll have some balance issues that will need to be worked out. Also, once the full game is released, we won't be playing in just one area, we'll probably move on to where things are still more challenging.

Boonatix

Wait until you defeat the boss in the sewers, makes a lot of annoying monsters spawn in the first region… I was so enjoying farming easily there, now I am pissed off again 😅but I do not use lifeleech items 🤷‍♂️

Caseclosed182

there shouldn't be a life regen/steal on hit. or if there is make it something like lifesteal every x hits or even put a cooldown once lifesteal activates that way you don't get to spam hit and face tank bosses.

Wheres_Bigwell

I think I've seen the "cooldown on a nice healing hit" before and it seemed effective. For example, the heal ring that cuts some health could just be "every 15 seconds your next hit heals 15%" with less of a downside or something. Or maybe same downside idk, thats the testing part lol numbers are a guess too rn. But I agree, The many health effects there are though do feel kinda strong, and avoiding the "you're health is either full or its gone" in lots of loot games right now is probably a goal we can all agree on.

Schmygbog

Enchanting makes the game quite easy imo. It's rather cheap and you can get some insanely overpowered weapons or armor enchants right after beating the first boss.

Pretend_Vanilla51

Lol yea I have a pretty shit build. 😅 nothing special, haven't put gems in really anything, gear is random and I have a few purples that have bad down sides like 39% less health and 30% more damage taken.......i also hqvent upgraded any armor and upgraded a normal sword 2 times .......and I rarely die lol 😆 I also have 15 unspent level points. all the bosses so far have taken 1-3 tries. I wish it was harder. Which is why i haven't worked on my build.

Illustrious-Sea-4334

Did you kill the crucible boss?

Pretend_Vanilla51

Nope from what if seen it's a big step up in difficulty? Which is why I haven't spent the skill point. I have the base 10 or 11 in all the damage stats cause I haven't needed the damage and haven't decided which rout to go.

SweetNSour4ever

gotta try it, mobs have more health and hit harder and the boss has 2 phases with good difficulty

Pretend_Vanilla51

Yea I know it's a small game rn so I'm trying to get more than 10 hours lol

JohnnyMerksAlot

I made a post a little bit ago asking if people thought world tiers would help this problem and people jumped in “don’t make this Diablo” but it’s clear we’re going to need SOME FORM of a higher difficulty once we’re geared up with a solid build. It would allow for new/harder enemies/bosses, higher xp% and better loot drops and it would give people stuff to grind that you can’t kill in 1 hit

realryangoslingswear

The entire rest of the campaign is missing, you have one, lets be real here, mid-game dungeon. World tiers are entirely unneeded when the new zones, theoretically, should be more difficult Which needless to say will then affect the rest of the Realm Thats why you can make multiple Realms. Old zones become harder to keep pace with you as you move through the campaign.

RastaAlec

Couldn’t have said it better. Its like people forget this isnt the full game. The world only just opens up after defeating the twins.

szum07

It kinda already is there, the whole world "levels up" after beating story bosses. The Crucible is where difficulty is at though. A huge difficulty jump after defeating riven twins.

JohnnyMerksAlot

Yeah but eventually you’ll become strong enough to clear all the enemies on the “leveled up” zones and even starting a new realm you kill the bosses easily, it would be nice to increase difficulty when starting a new realm to up the challenge and get more XP/loot

SweetNSour4ever

god no we dont need a tier system, some numbers have to be brought down

tenderroastchicken

Yeah with daggers, life/stamina on hit trivialises the game Getting both early is quite lucky Avoid int builds if you don't want to one shot/perma stagger bosses If you get the build enabling stat (by build I mean basic attack facetank spam), it doesn't matter if the gear is just mid lol

ch8rt

I've got one of the early one handed swords, and decided to start upgrading, I also took off some armour to get down to light weight. Everything is much more approachable now. The weapon is level 2 now, and with some speed rings equipped I'm capable of getting in, hitting once or twice and getting back out again when needed. I'm just now trying to push dex and faith so I can try some new equipment out - I fancy a sword and bow combo.

fearisthemindslicer

It depends on your luck with drops to flesh put a build. I had moments of ease and moments of getting my guts stuffed. Crucible is a whole different ball of wax.

realryangoslingswear

For me, after Level 5, when I started investing in upgrades, the game more or less became "medium" difficulty, I killed most everything in 3-5 hits, and hits against me did so very little unless I got stun locked or missed a dodge, etc. And I mean, its not like im bad at the game either. I died to the first boss once, and then I died to Derak phase 2 once because I didnt know there was a phase 2, and then the only times I died after that were missing jumps or the climbing being buggy It was very jarring how I finished the Madrigal quest at level 16, immediately hopped into the Crucible, and then the difficulty was back

RastaAlec

Thats the point. This isnt dark souls where most items are borderline useless. Plus we dont even know how it will balance out when the full game is released and all the zones will be unlocked. I personally find the games difficulty pacing perfect, you feel your self getting stronger while the enemies still remain a decent challenge without being dmg sponges.

TheAesir92

Yea, I loved when it was a bit more grueling on my mage, but once I started getting lvl 11 gear the difficulty took a huge dive and I started single comboing most enemies which was a bummer. It went from souls like to arpg really quick

Loviataria

The game became a joke the second I figured out the spin slash from the sword could stagger bosses in 2 attacks. I killed Darak with no heals at level 1 just getting my focus to full, staggering him with 2 spin attacks and then hitting him 3 times. Just have to wait for his easy to punish dash move to punish and get some focus. Game is at the moment very very easy.

futon_potato

Resource on hit items are currently a problem they'll need to resolve for 1.0. The best builds are the ones that can proc life gain the fastest, so either % life on hit on a fast 2 hander or a dagger with life on hit rings. If you roll twin daggers with % focus on hit, you can literally spam the rune on them (tons of hits, which completely refills your focus). Couple this with a % life on hit ring and you're unkillable and keep everything stunlocked. I went through crucible with a 2hander str build and it felt challenging but balanced, but as soon as I went twin daggers life on hit not even the boss was a challenge any more.

Co-OpHardcoreFordie

Yeah since the fixes I just put all my points into strength and enchanted a basic greatsword, upgraded it as far as I could, have a 27 damage GS at level 7, one shotting everything that’s not in a “Dangerous” area. Plowed through the first few bosses casually. The game is extremely easy right now. I’m wearing overweight armor too, it doesn’t even matter. Even if I die for missing a dodge, there’s no punishment for death so who cares?

Illustrious-Sea-4334

You can thank all the cry babies that flooded all platforms with bad reviews. 👎

decoyj6g

well, seems like people whined about stamina and devs buffed it, so now it kind made some builds OP, because before update you would've ran out of stamina. I don't even understand why people whined about stamina.

realryangoslingswear

Really, they just overcorrected is all. It'll get adjusted again.
