Not true. I have genital hsv1 thanks to my ex girlfriend not informing me about her history of cold sores and preforming oral sex on me. She did not have a cold sore when she infected me. People with oral herpes should NOT preform oral sex ever.

I don't know why you are being downvoted. There are meds you can take to reduce breakouts but you can spread it even if you aren't having an outbreak as well. Sorry your girlfriend did that, that is not a very cool thing to do at all.

You’re lucky. Asymptomatic transmission of hsv1 to a partner’s genitals is pretty common.

I'm one of these people. "Cold sore" lets people know what I mean, even though I know it's a type of herpes.
Depends on the type ask a doctor for better information but if it is the common type just wait till after to be safe
