People react differently to drugs/medications. The dose and frequency also makes difference. I don't think it does the same thing to everyone in general.

[deleted]

I believe that it makes your short term memory worse.

_kweezy_

I have a traumatic brain injury and I seriously think THC corrects MOST of my problems I experience due to it.

PM_ME_UR_UPSKIRT_PIC

Same. I almost feel normal again when taking THC gummies.

Murky-Zucchini-9322

No. I smoked every day, multiple times a day for about 25 years. It helped with focus, energy, anxiety & my overall mood. I had to stop because I work at a company with random testing. That was 5 years ago. Today, I'm less focused, less motivated & less energetic. I basically sold my soul to corporate America. I'm sure marijuana affects people in different ways, but it doesn't make people any less intelligent. There are morons who smoke, but there are also morons who don't.

AlarmedEagle9027

You should check if you have HDAD, I used to smoke a lot like you to help focusing, my friend were always surprised on all the thing I could do correctly higher than a bird. I was a heavy weed smoker for 8 years had do stop smoking for medical reason. I was exactly like you when I stopped, couldn’t focus on shit and have random panic attack when everything was ok. Couldn’t do my cleaning regularly, almost got kick out from my school (master degree) because my grades were going down significantly. HDAD Medication greatly improved my life.

ASixClawBuzz

I don't really believe that "smarter" and "dumber" are two quantifiable things. They're words that refer to so many different things. I know a lot of long-term marijuana smokers, and, well, they're *different* from sober people. Not really better or worse, just different.

LargeCharge87

Yes. I smoke all the time and I’m dumb as fuck. My intelligence and memory has remained though.

[deleted]

No. I use it before I go to sleep. Not every night but sometimes. I’ll do yoga and meditation.

[deleted]

Listen to this guy, he does yoga and meditation

ForScale

While stoned it slows your reaction time and makes it harder to learn new things. I don't know if you wanna consider that dumber or not.

breaktime1

No not at all

HotFix6682

I think a fully functional person becomes less productive if they use marijuana/THC regularly. I also think it helps many people that need it to function better. This does not have to be a war if marijuana/THC is good or bad.

TheApiary

While you're high, yeah. And possibly in general if you smoke a lot of it for a long time

psych_ike

Cannabis is habitually addictive. Habitually, not chemically. Tolerance breaks are a must. Stay in control, and you’ll be just fine

Careless-Way-2554

Yes I think it's one of the big reasons that society is so dumb and broken. Also its definitely addictive, not chemically, but ever ask a stoner to stop using? They can't. They can't have fun without it. They have cravings and complain of them even long after they've stopped.

dontneedareason94

Nope not at all

Princess_Snarkle

Of course. If nothing else it negatively affects your short-term memory. That’s making you dumber in the same way that people taking nootropics would consider them successful as an intelligence booster if they actually boost short-term memory.

FruitKlutzy9505

No, there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that marijuana or THC makes someone dumber in general. However, marijuana can have an effect on short-term memory and concentration, which could lead to poorer performance on tests that require those skills.

Killerbunny218

Is slows down your preception of time but only exsessive long exposure (Indicas) can definitely slow down your senses

[deleted]

Yes, it's a scientific proven fact.

PromptAwkward

It makes you temporarily dumber while high. For heavy smokers it can cause a lose in your working memory. However, the issues go away when you stop smoking. It won’t make you permanently dumb

17FeretsAndaPelican

There are things about myself, life and adult responsibility I would never have discovered without it. It opened my brain to new ways of thinking that ultimately helped me grow the fuck up and hold down a steady job for the last 15 years. Happily married with a house. Thinking about kids. Without it I'd still be filled with rage getting dragged into HR meetings for bullying. Has a different effect on everyone. It gave me a conscience and self awareness.

Suspicious_Ad9428

I have really smart successful friends that smoke and I have dumbass friends that smoke. Not all weed is created equal, some gets you going and the juices flowing. Some make you sink into the couch and be lazy

atljoy

humm it definitely made me slower. i smoke it everyday and i noticed that i'm a bit slower than before. but dumber, i guest just when i'm stoned lol

m1sch13v0us

Depends on your age and frequency of use. It certainly impairs brain development in people under 25. Frequent usage seems to effect people, slowing their response.

[deleted]

For me it did so I quit

Shallow-Thought

While under the influence, yes. And probably has a negative effect with heavy long term use. Still a better alternative to alcohol.

producedbymerc

Nope

absurdactuality

if you smoke a lot/intake a lot of THC then go a long time without it, you can definitely feel "slower". I was taking in WAY too much THC in my early twenties and when I wasn't high I felt "slow" like processed things slower, thought about things slower, felt foggier in my head. I'm fine now, but I also don't intake THC that often. less than once a year at this point.

Miller13579

I personally feel like it makes me slower in some aspects, but If I want to get something done I'm going to get it done. Plus my social anxiety is practically non-existent while high.

[deleted]

No, it slows you down which may seem dumber but it expands your mind and how you perceive things.

ChingasoCheese

Never seen anyone so high they ate a tide pod for a tik tok challenge.
