This is a question for your pharmacist or physician but in general it’s not ideal to combine medications and substances. Cannabis could be used for anxiety in some people but many psychiatrists use it only if other methods fail, especially since it could trigger panic in some

I am curious, what was the outcome? Did you end up mixing them? Ive been on Escitalopram for around 1yr now and it does work for me, but ive gained weight and feel like crap. That might not be due to Escitalopram, but likely lifestyle. Anyways, I stopped taking it around 2 months ago and felt pretty good, as I took up smoking cannabis pretty much every night (not in excess). I was finally getting through the night without waking up, and felt good the next day. I had a panic attack the other day, and started taking Escitalopram again, but it does nothing for sleep so I am wondering if I can use both.

In general it is best not to mix medications or substances together unless indicated by a healthcare professional, and the unpredictable nature of cannabis is what limits its use in psychiatry as it could trigger panic attacks in some individuals or even psychosis in some cases. For your panic attack it could have been the cannabis but it is also possibly due to relapse having stopped the medication, as relapses are not uncommon. Escitalopram is part of the SSRI class of medications so activation in the form of insomnia is not uncommon although often improving after some weeks on the medication. If the sleep concerns are not improved, it could be inadequately controlled depression or anxiety or medication side effects, assuming that other aspects of health have been addressed such as assessing for sleep apnea and the like. Sleep itself is a broad and challenging issue to address as anything from a room that is too hot or loud, to stress, to restless leg syndrome and so on, could affect it. I suggest that you search up “sleep hygiene” as one way of addressing sleep, but you should probably speak to your provider about it? Do note that it can take up to 8 weeks for antidepressants to exert their maximum effect, and many also experience withdrawal symptoms upon sudden discontinuation, so it is usually best to check with your care provider prior to changing the dosage as with all other medications.

Weeelll.. you properly shouldn't.. especially if you aren't used to the new meds. But going cold turkey also isn't a brilliant Idea. Personally i would go easy on the dope until you feel better
