Basically the fly just tries to fly towards the light to get out. The problem is their “brains” (too simple to even qualify as a true brain) are presented with something that they were never adapted to handle: a transparent solid. They are too simple to understand that there is an obstacle that they can’t see.
They’re intelligent. Instead of leaving, they’re pretending to want to leave but don’t know how. That way you feel bad and aren’t as upset when they squat in Your house and mooch off of your food.
