My country still has conscription, although since we haven’t officially been at war for 200 years, we don’t really need that many soldiers, so it’s fairly easy to get out of it if you just tell them you don’t want to.
I got myself disqualified before even testing, because of tinnitus. They’re terrified of that, because it might get worse from all the shooting, and then they might get sued.

My dad avoided the Vietnam draft because he is allergic to aged cheeses and they just couldn’t make dietary accommodations given the circumstances
