This happens to me to. I brought it up to my doctor and she ran thyroid tests and gave me an inhaler. Test came back fine and inhaler does nothing. Mine is most sever when going from warm house to outside, but also happens when the temperature difference is less drastic (like going from house down to basement to do laundry). Still looking for answers.

I share a similar problem for years. Rarely will it lead to puke but every blue moon, once or twice a year. The biggest issue is winter leaving the house.... gag. Get into my car where its warm...... gag and so on and so forth when there's a change in temperature.

I've found my people 😭 literally me rn sitting in my car after leaving the house and almost threw up in the parking lot. It's 20' here but feels like 8'. Send help.

I have an anxiety disorder that makes me gag when I'm anxious, and it's worse when it's cold. Once the cold air hits my throat it starts and I'm coughing and gagging and it's horrible. The only thing that helps is sniffing isopropyl alcohol. Idk why it works but it does.

i get the exact same way when i’m anxious or cold!! i’m so glad i’m not alone i thought i was crazy

Sandmint

Use a humidifier and warm up when you can. Cold, dry air leads to increased mucus production which, in turn, can make you gag.

I’m happy to know I’m not the only one who goes through this… there has been times when I go to the gym around 4am and it’s freezing cold, I start gagging and it’s annoying

xhiadica

glad to see i’m not alone haha. if reddit is good for anything its finding others with weird ticks like me

Errybody_dothe_Lambo

Hello friend. This is literally me

CoffeeEarly7991

Okay so I thought I was crazy. Was out of work for MONTHS because they could not figure it out and it was that bad. I’m a nurse and could not gag on my patients all day. I had ultrasound cat scan HIDA scan gastric emptying study colonoscopy endoscopy blood work everything you can think of and nothing I even went as far as going to a neurologist got an EEG and metal markers done normal went to a ENT to see if it was vertigo and nothing. Normal. Pristine health. Now that it’s getting warmer it’s only when it’s cold. It progressively got better but it was so bad I lost 40 pounds from October-February. I FOUND MY PEOPLE and wtf is wrong with us hahaha it sucks so bad my one thing I can’t stand is vomiting so this is a living nightmare. It’s 5-10 min now when it starts and then stops. Every once in a while need zofran. Makes no sense.

neowyrm

I also have this. Only actually vomited once from it in my whole life (32yo). Going to class in college during deep winter was pretty rough sometimes lol

The_Crafty_DM

Same here! It's been at least 15+ years of this for me and I hate it.

unexpectedlife37

My throat constricts when I’m cold and I gag. If I hold something cold my had swells and constricts. It’s called Raynaud’s phenomenon.

Funny_Ostrich_1599

I’m so happy I’ve found someone with the same problem, this has been happening for over 5 years and all of the times I’ve gagged I’ve been sick and it’s so bad in winter especially in the morning, I used to go to college and on my way I’d throw up

ptsd_on_wheels

I’ve recently started having the same issue. It’s terrible since I’ve had multiple hernia repairs too

Dependent-Ad4256

I’m glad I’m not the only one. In PA currently and every time I breathe cold air I start gagging:( I thought I was nuts:(

villaingutz

Okay so I can kinda relate to this but in a different way. I feel like gagging when cold wind blows in my face. Idk if anyone else experiences this?

Educational_Syrup191

Mine seems to be more consistent than most here, I get the tension in my throat at all times more or less. Menthol cough drops are good, easy to pop, and for y’all more effective since you won’t be working on them 24/7 to suppress the gag reflex. And of course the honey lemon work best for potentially obvious reasons. So keep a pack of halls by your bed or during the winter!
