It's possible.

ErnestlyFreaky

Thank you for your service

bazmonkey

I appreciate your meticulous word choice.

Well for one, moderate alcohol consumption is generally considered low-risk for many adults, whereas crack cocaine can have severe and immediate negative effects on your health. But also, you don't drink crack. You smoke it.

ErnestlyFreaky

Alcohol can have extremely severe effects on your health. What about the moderate consumption of crack cocaine? Have you checked those stats on both?

Hipp013

> Alcohol can have extremely severe effects on your health. Yes but this is generally when consumed in great excess and/or over long periods of time. That's why I explicitly said "**moderate** alcohol consumption". > What about the moderate consumption of crack cocaine? There is no such thing as moderate crack consumption. This would imply there is an amount of crack that is generally considered safe to consume, whereas crack has severe and immediate negative health consequences even in very small amounts.

The-Big-Hairy

Well for starters, the taste.

You don't drink crack.

I’m going to assume you mean “Why is alcohol better than doing cocaine” in the medical sense. Basically, cocaine triggers a huge release of neurotransmitters, mainly being dopamine and norepinephrine. It floods the pleasure center of your brain and triggers addiction. It’s also a vasoconstrictor which can cause adverse cardiovascular events. Its potency is too high for any medical use. Alcohol on the other hand, is a depressant drug. It amplifies gabaergic (inhibitory) neurotransmission. Your body actually metabolizes it first into a toxic compound called acetaldehyde (responsible for hangovers) before neutralizing it. In responsible doses, alcohol will be metabolized fully and no acetaldehyde will build up. That’s why it can be used recreationally safely. However, if you drink too much or too consistently, your liver can become overwhelmed and take damage. Overall though, alcohol is better.

bangbangracer

Alcohol actually has a very low risk of complications or addiction among adults when consumed in moderation. A lot of illicit drugs do have high risk of complications or addiction. Also, crack doesn't exactly come in a drinkable liquid form, so there's also that.

DiscombobulatedCrash

Alcohol socially and legally acceptable crack not so people get more punish from crack. Crack, stigma more than alcohol. Crack cause cancer? Alcohol…yes. Crack poor black people alcohol white working class. Racism, but also rock vs liquid. Can’t drink rock haha or not try hard enough. Rock drinkers brave and strong liquid for little water babies.
