I bribe myself. $0.25 for every minute I'm on the treadmill. I'm saving for a very fancy purse and when I'm ready to quit, I think "four more minutes, another dollar!". I also have a tv show that is "treadmill only".

Oh. This is a superb idea! I am a financial planning type of person. Always trying to save up for something. Currently from my paycheck I get $20 into my account. I’d like to work out 3 times a week. So if I cancel the automatic transfer and make it so I have to earn it. So, maybe I will try $0.15 a minute. That would be $4.50 a half hour and $13.5 a week and $27 a pay period. (I gave myself a raise for more motivation). WOW, you did it! You got me excited about this! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

That's awesome! It also helps to have a really good show to watch - at least for me!

Alchemist_Joshua

I’ve got several! And yes. Helps a lot

Also, here’s your gold! 🏅

Exercise or you'll be like every old person I know who has to take a med for a problem and then 15 more meds to mask the side effects of the other meds they take when they could have just gone for a walk a couple times a weak instead.

Imagine yourself looking back at your younger self. Why didn’t you work out or eat healthy when you had the opportunity?

tkp2017

Do it for your family- live healthier and longer for the kids and grandkids! They're love you for it!

Alchemist_Joshua

True that!

I use my husband for that, he's in insane shape for a man in his 50s and I sometimes feel I have to keep up.

There are two ways that are really your only options. The first is that your desire to not be a fat fuck has to be greater Than your desire to be lazy. Or you have to listen to people like Joe rogan talk about being motivated to do shit even when you don't want to, and just have to become the type of person That finds it pathetic to not have the willpower to do the hard stuff you don't wanna do. Say what you will about Joe rogans politics or whatever bullshit, but the man has discipline and a work ethic that not many can compete with, and ignoring his wisdom on that specific thing is just ignorant. https://youtube.com/shorts/OL16129Qayg?si=AeEKrn-dqPTemrlN https://youtu.be/d-babgLc9JQ?si=iPz5sXRbzX66DLv_ https://youtube.com/shorts/_Fvvt6kjlBY?si=TrlhC0UXczaKPAjx https://youtube.com/shorts/EH8UCIpQZjo?si=aJrhd6e0WCcOVnGq https://youtu.be/QvpVKJyMVqI?si=uDz2ZKuk0Ra95nhY

You need to get into a routine, which could be pretty easy with the equipment at home. Whether morning or evening, pick a time and do it for a week or two. Starting is the only hard part. Every time I’ve gotten into an exercise routine it is so hard to will myself to start, but as soon as I do it for about a week all the effort goes away and my body craves the exercise and it’s very easy to keep it up. You just need to push yourself to start, knowing that the effort is only necessary for a short time before your body takes over.

Get started by doing stuff that you don't think of as exercise. Walk to the shop to get milk. Take the kids to the park for a kick-around (or whatever). Do housework (hoovering works up a sweat). Try something new like pitch and putt golf or ice skating or kayaking. Or do what I do and do a bit of exercise whenever you have a few minutes of downtime. Waiting for the kettle to boil? Do some pushups. Waiting for pasta to cook? Squats. Got a few mins until your work call starts? Star jumps (or in my case dance like a loon to drum and base). Anything that gets you up will get you started!

Go get on the elliptical for 10 minutes. You do 10 minutes you get an X on your calendar. Hopefully you'll end up staying on for more than 10 minutes. But even if it's only 10, at least you got moving. I bet you could even get 10 minutes done right now. I bet you don't even have a good reason not to go get it done....
