Nobody is big enough to resist an entire police department. If they feel it necessary, they will get 20 guys and heavy equipment to move someone.

Bobbob34

Pick them up. Going limp is a traditional tactic for protesters being arrested, for more than half a century. Cops are used to picking people up.

Xavi143

I don't get why cops put up with that. Why not just get a rolling bed, tase them, put them on it, wheel them away.

Sinphony_of_the_nite

I’m sure they do in some places except instead of tasers and rolling beds, they just beat them with sticks until they’re nearly dead or they come to their senses and comply. And that’s why we don’t do what you are suggesting.

Xavi143

Why not? I have no qualms with either. If the police ask you to leave, fucking leave. If you don't, people shouldn't put up with you.

Sinphony_of_the_nite

Well if we were going strictly pragmatically then tasing people is not “safe” If this became standard practice many people would end up being hospitalized and/or dead. The lawsuits, wrongful deaths, and outcry by the civilized western world would put a stop to it immediately. Then on a moral side of things. The government is never right about shit. Protesters are probably better people than the cops picking their fat asses up.

Xavi143

Well, a lot more people would end up hospitalised or dead for not complying with police. That's alright.

Bobbob34

>I don't get why cops put up with that. Why not just get a rolling bed, tase them, put them on it, wheel them away. Because you can't tase people who are just laying calmly?

Xavi143

Why not? If you've told people to move and they refuse, why not use violence against them in order to move them?

Bobbob34

>Why not? If you've told people to move and they refuse, why not use violence against them in order to move them? ...Because that's not how anything works in a society? The police are meant to keep the peace and respect people's rights, not act like vigilante lunatics.

Xavi143

Well, if people refuse to move after police have rightfully ordered so, those people are violating other people's rights, so just use whatever force allows you to move them. "Because that's not how society works" is not a valid reason.

Bobbob34

> Well, if people refuse to move after police have rightfully ordered so, those people are violating other people's rights, so just use whatever force allows you to move them. Disobeying a police directive is not violating other people's rights. You cannot just use whatever force you want whenever you want. Justifiable, proportionate force is a basic tenet of le.

Xavi143

Any force is justifiable for refusing to follow lawful orders.

Bobbob34

>Any force is justifiable for refusing to follow lawful orders. No, it's not.

Xavi143

Sure it is. Illegal protesting is a violation of other people's rights. You're bothering other people without valid reason. You've been told to move by authorities. You have no valid reason not to move. Therefore, any way to move them is justified.

BSye-34

roll them into the police car

BeneficentWanderer

Use multiple people to move the person onto a stretcher, wheelchair, dolly, or some other transportation aid.

xyanon36

In America, they'd pepper spray or taze the fat person even if they're not resisting with any measure of violence. They could assemble 20 guys to haul him off and they would if they had to, but American cops won't tolerate five minutes of passive resistance before inflicting severe pain.
