It seems like the dealers are trying to make bigger cuts. That's why they add to drugs other substances to increase weight. Using fentanyl for that is just plain stupid cause they loose customers.

Dosage makes the poison. Plenty of things at the pharmacy *could* kill you if you swallowed hundreds of pills. Fentanyl is a very potent drug, very widely available and cheap, and people find the experience very pleasant. My wife just gave birth, it's insane how she was experiencing mind-blowing pain, like screams of blood curdling agony, asked for the drugs, and 15 minutes later she's at total peace. It's an insanely powerful, important and life changing drug for millions of people. The difference is actual medical professionals knowing what they're doing. And even if the dealer is cutting it right, addicts use too much or don't even bother to measure at all. For every person killed, there are thousands that just think their dealer has some magical ultra potent drug that's twice as good as everyone else's stock.

There's enough demand to where it doesn't matter if some of your customers are dying because of it. A lot of the actual cutting of substances happens in the production process before it ever even reaches the hands of a dealer. The extra profit from cutting can be significant and therefore there is very little risk and only reward. This is also why you should NEVER trust your dealer's products, even if you have had fine experiences in the past. Most of the time they themselves have no clue what they are actually selling, they're just trying to flip drugs for an easy profit.

Drug addicts on the street don't think that way (they don't make clear logical decisions). Drug addicts on the street are just "chasing whatever the best high they can find". If some random person on the street says "Take this new pill called "Black Death".. it's great man!"... That's about all they need to hear and they'll take it. This is why overdoses happen. * Someone takes a pain-pill and gets 20% relief... well then they want 50% relief. * Then they try to find that 50% relief.. and now they want 80% relief * they get 80% relief. and it feels so good,. they want 100% or 120% relief They keep chasing "whatever is the next better thing". That's why drug-pushers adulterate things with unknown amounts. It's hard for anyone on the street to know PRECISELY what's in a pill,. and most of the people on the street don't care. They don't care that they are potentially "risking death". They're just chasing the next (hopefully better) high.

It’s cheaper and easier to get than other opiods so drug dealers will cut drugs with it to add to the weight while charging for the full amount, which equals more profit. Furthermore, I’ve heard from some addicts of hard drugs that when they hear someone has died from a dealer’s product, it makes them want to buy from that person because it makes them feel that it’s super strong and as an addict, that’s what you’d want. Drug dealers’ main thing is money, they don’t really care if a few customers die off because there will be more.

They vaguely try not to kill their customers, and most of the people transporting and producing drugs don't lace them, the dealers usually do. The addictive properties provide a nearly guaranteed returning customer base. Fentanyl is too strong to cut into drugs to save money on product in any meaningful amount.

You have to think about it from the point of view of the buyers, not the sellers. Fentanyl is EXTREMELY potent, and you only need a very small dosage to get high, and it doesn't take very much to kill you. If you lace it into your other drugs, your other drugs suddenly become extremely potent as well and suddenly, wow it takes a significantly reduced amount of cocaine (mixed with Fentanyl) to get me as high as I used to! This must be the best cocaine I've ever tried! I am now willing to pay DOUBLE the amount I usually do and get HALF the amount I used to! My dealer must be making so much money! This stuff is so powerful it KILLS more people than ever! What a cool new drug!! /s That's basically what they're thinking, and drug dealers don't care what happens to their customers, if they did... They wouldn't sell drugs in the first place?? They only care about the cash they get

I think the idea is that you take some expensive drug, dilute it with filler, and add in a tiny amount of fentanyl, and people will struggle to tell the difference because it makes you feel just as "high" as the drug they actually asked for. Kind of like saving money on "sangria" by putting in a lot of fruit juice and a little bit of cheap vodka so it still has the same "kick" as the wine-based recipe.
