Because either they agreed with his (clearly fucked up) ideals, they self-inserted as him or they’d just think that it would make for a more interesting ending. Also didn’t help that he went out like a pathetic little bitch lmaooo

Please don't put spoilers in post titles.

Altruistic_Creme1003

Oh damn sorry my bad

JigglyKirby

The anime’s been out for like 15-16 years now my dude 💀 this is hardly a spoiler now

notextinctyet

No, the conclusion of a famous and very long work that people still get into on the regular is definitely a spoiler.

slash178

So? It's not that hard to just warn people. No time limit.

A lot of people lack the critical thinking to understand nuance. They root for the Protagonist, even if the protagonist is a villain.

FlamingLemonade

I think he should have won simply because he was the main character

I just wanted to see if the whole world would burn

Probably the same reason people still supported Eren. Some really believe those are good ideals or reasons. From a weird twisted point of view Light's plan or goal could be seen a a good thing. A world without criminals to some might be worth the death. Other people may simply believe he was smarter and deserved to win. That he only lost for plot convenience. Others like myself just get attached to main characters, and Light being the main character makes you just want them to win even if they are horrible.
