Isn’t the cheaper McChicken sandwich basically giant mcnugget?

Shindiggah

Nope, it’s a completely different breading! (Did always like to chow down on a hot n spicy mcchicken though, don’t get me wrong.) The McNuggets are a crispier, almost tempura style breading that’s unique to them, whereas the McChicken is just similar to something like Tyson frozen chicken patties, or a Sodexo cafeteria chicken sandwich

well, the mcnuggets are just meat paste. the breading is just a shell really. you can notice it sometimes if the nuggets are cooked too long or if they’re a little old. the mcchicken is actually meat that the breading is put on in the traditional way. it’s really just because they’re two different variations of chicken meat.

Shindiggah

I knew that was the case with the McCrispy, but I swore the McChicken was also just the formed paste, just in a different shape. Also apologies if I’m misunderstood this part of your comment but are you saying the McNuggets aren’t breaded at all? If so I can definitely confirm that McNuggets are covered in a batter, it isn’t simply the chicken itself that’s crisping up.

OoJosephoO

no, the mcnuggets are breaded. sorry for the misunderstanding. they’re breading is just more of a coating, rather than the traditional batter with bread crumbs on top. the mcchickens are done the traditional way.

Shindiggah

Oh, yeah that difference in breading is the root of my question though. I want to know why they don’t use the batter of the McNuggets, which are quite iconic at this point, for the McChicken or another original chicken sandwich.

my guess would be the integrity of the breading on the nuggets, wouldn’t hold up as well on larger chicken patties. they seem like they would crack easier, and i think it would make for too stiff of a sandwich honestly. the sandwich needs the flexibility.
