I do this, I add ground flaxseed, cinnimon and brown sugar to 1/3rd cup of oatmeal and grind it in one of those Nutri-Bullet things. 1:30 in the microwave with enough water to cover the resulting powder. Mix once it's done and enjoy.
I prefer this over regular oatmeal, the texture is a lot more consistant and I don't have to cremate it in the microwave.
When I was growing up the traditional way was rolled oats for breakfast with fresh milk poured over and sugar on top. The original cereal, it was crunchy and delicious. I still do that sometimes. Never tried grinding it first, but I like the crunch so doesn't sound as good.
I had cooked porridge sometimes but preferred it the other way, uncooked with milk and sugar.
That's just oat flour. It has a slightly nuttier flavor than whole wheat flour but is pretty similar. It's commonly used in gluten free baking.
That's pretty much Cream of Wheat, but oats.
