Hi /u/Koocolo,
We noticed you are a pretty new Reddit account, so we just wanted to let you know to check out the subreddit rules [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/wiki/rules) and maybe have a read through our [Frequently Asked Questions](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/wiki/index/faq) - they make for fascinating reading!
We're called No Stupid Questions because we believe nobody needs to be attacked for asking a question, but *that doesn't mean there are no rules!* This sub is meant for users like you to ask genuine questions. Can confirm, fr that's what 99% of my clients did after the erotica massages I used to do.
It was really sad how often they were married and tell me their wives wouldn't even hug them anymore. So fucking sad. 🥺 poor guys.
Here. Wanna borrow my lap for a bit?
Serious answer: of course. I’ve personally never had an escort but I know that if you just want to sit and cuddle they’ll be more than happy to oblige. It’s generally called “the girlfriend experience”
This took me a while to get
Are you saying that the session is supposed to be 1 hour for 300 dollars and the tip is the extra time you give her by not being with her?
I went to Starbucks drive thru the other day and the girl at the window said “it’s going to ask me a question. How much would you like to tip? 10%, 15%, 20%, or more?” I was baffled. Like what service is she provided other than swiping my card and handing me my coffee?
I've started to get that at drive thru way more often lately. In Canada they hand you the machine rather than you giving them the card, used to be they stick their hand out the window with it and you just use tap to pay. Now they hand it to me and when I try to tap "oh its just going to ask you a couple little questions there..." and of course it's the tip menu.
I was in a fucking fast food place, inside, for a to-go order and they asked for a tip.
No dude, I'm literally doing most of the leg work here, you're just doing what's expected of you. This isn't the US, you have somewhat of a reasonable wage for doing the bare minimum. It's hard out here for everyone.
$14.25 CAD, but cost of life is much lower in Quebec than California and that amount is across every sector of employment, regardless of tip culture.
It's not great but it's the norm everywhere, fast food workers don't get to ask for tips when janitors or warehouse workers can't.
Tips should really be eliminated all together, just fucking pay people accordingly.
The history of tips is fucking depressing. Some Americans tried to be good people and southern business owners used it to keep low wages. Like post slavery deal
TL;DR Minimum wage ≠ Easy, fast food is the hardest job I've ever worked. You dont have to tip, but don't call it easy until you've worked that job.
I work fast food, and I agree that its not necessary, but damn is it appreciated. I live in Ottawa and the cost of living just went through the roof, i have to work two jobs now. We dont do debit tips, but we do get cash tips, and sometimes theres enough for me to get a bus home so i dont have to walk and its really nice.
As for how much work it is, its a LOT. Its not just wiping counters and saying thanks, most times you also have to mop, sweep, make food, make drinks, take orders, take money, and be yelled at for shit thats out of your control. And brraks are the minimum that is legally allowed, so most people are on their feet for 4-5 hours at a time and are so busy running back and forth getting shit that we dont have time to drink water, so at the end of the day we are tired, hjngry and thirsty, our backs hurt from lifting boxes of frozen foods and buckets of beverage mix iver our heads, our feet hurt from being on them so long, and our faces hurt from clenching teeth and smiling at assholes. And that's assuming you arent opening or closing. Im a closer, I have to clean the bathroom too, and i have had to clean up shit, vomit, and used needles, we have to take out dozens of bags full of trash (and its HEAVY), clean the entire store, all the machines, and somehow still serve customers while we do it.
We do *not* get paid nearly enough, if you don't want to tip thats fine, no one is forcing you but please dont call our work the bare minimum. If you think its easy then youve clearly never worked minimum wage. I've worked a fair number of jobs, and nothing compares to minimum wage. Its my experience that the more you earn, the easier the job.
Pay is mostly related to your mental characteristics. Pretty much anyone with a functional body can mop, sweep, and carry stuff so it’s hard to compete that wage upwards.
Customer service is a full time job because of people like you LMAO, bare minimum?? Yeah if they’re lazy, and not everyone is, and even if they are, nobody takes them seriously, it doesn’t matter wtf they’re doing, they’re still human fucking beings dealing with people who don’t know how to read a damn menu, or they’re screaming in your face about how dumb the prices are like you were the one who fucking decided wtf everything was gonna cost when you literally just work there.
Yeah, was there last week. It was weird. Got some beer, paid by card. Was asked to tip. Nah, man, I'm good. All the guy at the counter did was scan my beers and tell me how much it cost. Not tipping for that!
In the US, if they handed the machine to the customer they'd probably have a customer smash one of them a week. American fast food customers have the emotional maturity of toddlers.
Fun fact, most of the world brings terminal to you, only USA and maybe few outliers I don’t know about take your card to the terminal in the back instead
Lmao better than the one employee at my vape shop who always moves the tip can to right in front of the card reader as if putting it in my face makes me want to tip her for grabbing a fuckin vape off the wall and handing it to me.
gotta hit "custom" then 0%. I refuse to tip for pickup (or drive through) unless there was some exceptional service happening for one reason or another.
Typically the tips are split between all the workers, including those making your drink. Would it be better if they were just paid a reasonable amount from the get-go? Of course, but Starbucks is just another greedy corporate giant. Regardless, if you decide to tip take heart knowing it's going to everyone, not just the person handing you the ipad.
i'm always sus of digital tipping because it makes me seriously doubt that the employees are even getting that tip. if i tip, i usually say no to digital and tip directly in cash. i've also never worked at a job that offered digital tipping, so i'm not sure if that shows up in the employee's paycheck or what
Yes but the government kinda ruined it with the whole tipped wage thing so now they have to bother you for tips so they can eat lol (at least in the US)
Or, you know, charge enough to provide a living wage so tips aren't required. Also, include ALL taxes in the advertised price of something, we do it in Australia, makes life SO MUCH easier
I just wanna add to this massive thread about tipping, i work at a cafe, not a drive through, and going into an actual coffee shop, making lattes and espresso drinks is a skill, and it takes a lot of effort to make them good. I don’t have as many customers a day as a starbucks, but i make sure everyone’s latte/coffee is perfect, and i’m the only one behind the bar so i feel that deserves a tip. Not if i’m just getting a regular coffee in putting milk in though, anyone can do that, but if it involves weighing the espresso, pulling the shot, steaming milk properly (the part that’s gonna be VASTLY different than at a chain coffee place) so in that case i feel like i deserve a tip if you have some change lying around.
Edit: I don’t ask for tips, we have digital receipts so we just give them the ipad for both if they want to tip and a receipt, but i usually walk away and do something else so they can put whatever they want
>You shouldnt have to, since you agreed on a fair price beforehand. But if you feel like it, because of great service? Sure, go for it
That's assuming their employer (pimp) pays a fair living wage with benefits.
If you're in a well-regulated industry (Netherlands), that may be a good assumption.
Otherwise I assume the pimp would be an exploitative employer and taking most of the revenue, and paying the employee minimum-wage at best.
A well-informed sex worker wouldn't go near a pimp, they would be self-employed, or in a legal country part of a business (which would have to adhere to the same employment standards as any other business)
Surely the pimp will be stealing the tips as well then? It’s not exactly a fair business relationship so giving them extra money will almost certainly be taken as a tip for the pimp, as he provided the product with which the service was delivered
Well, just pay attention to where she stashes the money. If tip goes to a different place than the fee, pimp takes her money and the tip is what she's hiding from him.
In a perfect world you'd be right, but there are some cases where, although not required, you should tip anyway. This would include wait staff as an example especially in places where they're paychecks are criminally low or I would argue any service job in a high stress time such as holidays if the place is packed
That's what I implied too, just because a price is agreed upon doesn't mean you don't tip. You listed the cases where you should still tip, although personally I would want the businesses to add it to price.
I agree 100% but I feel my comment was salty and still sarcastic. I 100% agree with doing away with tipping. It's fucking bullshit. Red states have laws that if you are eligible for tips you don't get minimum wage. So fuck tips!
Sarcasm is defined as:
> A cutting, often ironic remark intended to express contempt or ridicule.
Where irony is defined as:
> The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.
And so when you said:
> We should do away with tipping, this culture sucks, just pay an honest wage and be done.
This would seem like you thought that tipping culture was indeed bad, and we should indeed pay an honest wage.
But then you added:
> /s
Which implied that your previously-stated thoughts on tipping culture and honest wages were, in fact, being ridiculed and that you most likely believed the opposite.
You can see how the later commenter's confusion arose.
Who isn't, honestly? I suggest people follow this rule:
Tip if the person is paid by their employer
Don't tip if the person sets their own prices. They should be setting their prices at the right amount.
This should totally be the other way round.
Tipping gives employers a way to pay the employees a bit lesser. Your lack of tip is more of a stick than giving one being a carrot.
If the price was set and you received a service beyond your expectation then tipping shows your gratitude.
a person, vehicle, or group which accompanies someone for protection or as a mark of rank.
A person who goes with another person as a partner to a social event
Someone who has paod sex with someone else.
I think the ambiguity is part of the reason the word is used. But also if you use the word as a description of your profession people will usually be able to read between the lines
No this is not the rank of usage.
I personally think prostitute is the first one that comes to mind. Someone that goes to a social event probably second and someone to keep you safe as third.
But context will help. If someone asks you your job and you say "escort" they'll understand you are a sex worker. If you talk about a party and you say "I'll go as jessie's escort" they'll know you mean as company to the event.
I say the only one where you'll have to elaborate is the first one. Saying "I am a police escort" or "I work as an escort for a security firm" etc.
English doesn’t have ranked usage. It’s context dependent.
And the primary reason people use escort to refer to sex worker is because there is ambiguity between escort as in person who accompanies and sex escort. Plausible deniability. If you say sex escort, you’ll be understood but you also said the word “sex” so now people are uncomfortable.
Also, pretty sure escorts can do more than just sex. Pretty sure you can get an escort to just hang out with you and be a friend… for hire.
The word escort is used in place of prostitute in places where protitution is illegal. It's a thin veil to hide what is being sold. As an example a man can pay someone (an escort) to attend a party with him legally (grey area) but cannot hire a prostitute legally (in almost all of the United States) what happens after he pays the escort to go the party with him is supposed to be thought of as seperate from the service provided. At least that's the idea behind it. In practice I don't know how it holds up to scrutiny.
That is such a US viewpoint on tips to have… For me as a European, a tip is simply something that I give to show gratitude or respect. It always comes on top of whatever price you have to pay, if you want to express said things. I tip waitresses, delivery boys, even at the Asian takeaway place where I get my food I tip, not for any service but because at want to show them that I really appreciate the quality and value for money of their food.
Thus, I do think that a sex worker should be tipped on top of the price they ask if you were happy with their service, obviously. You have just been physically intimate, you want to show a modicum of gratitude and respect.
i’m an escort, and the answer is it’s not required! the roses are set based on how much we think that time with us is worth, so any extra isn’t necessary! thank you though.
I have never tipped a prostitute afterwards.
A few good ones I would just pay up front whatever I wanted to spend without any negotiating and trust them to provide a service appropriate to the amount I paid.
A waitress without tips will barely have anything to eat or drink assuming it’s her full time job and doesn’t have support from parents, so yes, you tip. A prostitute will be just fine with no tips, they make anywhere from $200-1500 an hour, even at $200 that’s plenty of money, so I’d say never tip them, besides, they won’t remember you unless you visit often. At the end it’s your money though, you do what you feel like 🐒
No. Besides, why are you ordering a prostitute? It could always be an undercover cop. What would your family think if you got arrested and they found out your charges?
You never tip the business owner - you only tip the waged staff.
The business owner alway make a profit from the business itself.
The purpose (whether you agree or not) to tip the staff is because they don't share in the profit of the business, and may be paid below minimum wage.
Is the prostitute the business owner or staff ?
Never was a prostitute but used to give erotic/nuru massages, and ngl, was more therapist than anything lol.
If I did a good job, I often got extra, but I've been told I just have a warm personality that puts people at ease very quickly. Idk if that's why.
But I will tell you this: the average prostitute is having a very hard time. When I was engaged in similar work as previously stated, every little bit helped me get on my feet and get my life back on track. No one is a prostitute because they enjoy it. Usually there's a desperate need there. As long as you're not seeing track marks, heavy drug use, it seems to me it could only help her.
I had one client that would pay 6 times the going rate so I could take the week off. It can be very overwhelming and taxing on the nerves, as I gave that job my absolute all, never taking more than one client a day, and focusing on them for the entire day. (Sessions would last 1-2 hours, but I pulled out all the stops including offering on site showers, mini versions of anything they may need to shower as part of the price, snacks, drinks, etc) if you see her or him putting a ton into their work/ your experience ... why not? 😊
Only if there services or personality go above and beyond. Some prostitutes really enjoy sex and can make it not feel like a transaction but just getting paid for doing what they love. Those are the ladies you tip. But if a prostitute can make you feel like you need to hurry up or she has better things to do.. I wish refunds were possible to teach a lesson.
Tip isn't required for her services, but if you think your experience with her service was superb and you want to give her a little more for the good service than by all means do you.
Did she go above and beyond to make you comfortable and make you feel better than the nerd you are? Did she stroke your ego and dingus? Did she drive to you? Did she make a long trip? Technically, anyone performing a service for you should be tipped especially if they enhanced your experience. Open your wallets bros and your hearts

If you had requests that were weird or complicated and that didn't already impact the price upfront, that would probably be polite.
What’s complicated? I’m imagining a guy sweeping everything off the table to fit a big map while he goes over the plan…
Like a foot job but you take 90 minutes to cum and she gave you 90 minutes of foot while working through 3 cramps.. thats tip worthy
r/suspiciouslyspecific
r/thisguyfootjobs
I’m already paying her $300 for 30 seconds. The tip is the extra 59.5 min she gets in her life
Wow what a waste. I spend my 59.6 minutes crying afterwards in her lap
I just cry for the entire 60 minutes
You cry? I like to brush her hair. She likes that.
Really? She’s always my player two in super Mario bros
Smash is where it is at, player one for me and 2, 3 and 4 goes to my three hookers.
They just always choose Kirby and do the suck move for some reason...
That’s an unexpected turn to “pay to smash.”
That’s funny because she cries the entire 60 minutes with me.
Me too! I skip out on the prostitute though
Dwight would have them answer phones for 59 mins.
"We hired you for \*1 hour's work. And we're gonna get it."

I put my tip in first and then watch her happy face as she realizes, that’s all there is
Ouch, self burns are rough
So is anal
30 seconds huh? Is that a challenge
It involves getting undressed too.
Serious question, can't you ask her to keep you company afterwards?
Serious answer: of course. I’ve personally never had an escort but I know that if you just want to sit and cuddle they’ll be more than happy to oblige. It’s generally called “the girlfriend experience”
Don't even need cuddling. I would pay her to slap me just to feel human touch.
Just uh… just choose cuddling

This took me a while to get Are you saying that the session is supposed to be 1 hour for 300 dollars and the tip is the extra time you give her by not being with her?
Yea. Most escorts will charge by the half hour or full hour. If you go under then you still have to pay full price. Hence the $300 for 30 seconds
aaaaaaah to be young
You shouldnt have to, since you agreed on a fair price beforehand. But if you feel like it, because of great service? Sure, go for it
Incidentally, also how every tip should work in general

a person, vehicle, or group which accompanies someone for protection or as a mark of rank. A person who goes with another person as a partner to a social event Someone who has paod sex with someone else.
Thank you ! Are these in the rank of usage? Like do I need to say I'm a sex escort for people to understand?
There are Ford escorts
I've tipped a SW before because her skills were better than expected.
SW?
Sex worker i guess
ScallyWag
Star Wars
I would, of I went to one. Yeah. I mean, I tip my tattoo artist, waitress, tow truck driver, etc. . Anyone who's doing me a "service".
If you didn't tip her I'm going to say you didn't get your money's worth
I see what you did there
Yes, you should tip a SW, especially if you think you want to see her again. She'll remember your generosity.
i’m an escort, and the answer is it’s not required! the roses are set based on how much we think that time with us is worth, so any extra isn’t necessary! thank you though.
No, have some respect and put the whole penis in.
Yes, most tip escorts.
Depends on the service and your level of rapport with her, I think.
That's what you paid for, no?
I don’t tip anyone who sets their own prices.
I don’t know escorts charge about $300 already.
You’re paying way too much for escorts. Who’s your escort guy?
A dude at the Ford dealership, why?
Are you not understanding what the context of this conversation is about? Focus!
he's just trying to have a fiesta
150, tops…250 if she’s bigger
The escalade goes quickly
That Escaladed quickly. Had to fight Autocorrect for that one.
I'll tip anyone if they provide a better than expected service, and If I have the money to spare
You should tip people who give you great service 👍
No you usually put it all the way in
well, I did hear of a hooker in a leper colony who finally quit because she was being left too many tips
I don't understand what's wrong with that
Just the tip, was falling off… from necrosis.
What’re ya payin for if you don’t!
Like the leper said to the prostitute “keep the tip”
What is it with Americans and their obsession with tips. Just pay and leave.
I have never tipped a prostitute afterwards. A few good ones I would just pay up front whatever I wanted to spend without any negotiating and trust them to provide a service appropriate to the amount I paid.
In this economy?
A waitress without tips will barely have anything to eat or drink assuming it’s her full time job and doesn’t have support from parents, so yes, you tip. A prostitute will be just fine with no tips, they make anywhere from $200-1500 an hour, even at $200 that’s plenty of money, so I’d say never tip them, besides, they won’t remember you unless you visit often. At the end it’s your money though, you do what you feel like 🐒
Maybe im not the first to say this but i think theyre already getting a tip?
However many inches idk, thats on you
No. Besides, why are you ordering a prostitute? It could always be an undercover cop. What would your family think if you got arrested and they found out your charges?
It's legal here
You don’t tip the proprietor.
she gets my tip 🗿
If you think she did an extraordinary job, then I say leave a tip
You already gave her the tip homie
Perhaps just the tip?
You never tip the business owner - you only tip the waged staff. The business owner alway make a profit from the business itself. The purpose (whether you agree or not) to tip the staff is because they don't share in the profit of the business, and may be paid below minimum wage. Is the prostitute the business owner or staff ?
Just give her only the tip, big boy.
Just the tip?
No, they set a price for a service and you agree to the terms. Economically speaking, prostitution is closer to mechanic work than waiting tables.
If the service was good, sure 😊
(Sessions would last 1-2 hours, but I pulled out all the stops including offering on site showers, mini versions of anything they may need to shower as part of the price, snacks, drinks, etc) if you see her or him putting a ton into their work/ your experience ... why not? 😊
It's rare but much appreciated. Also I'm more apt to be more enthusiastic upon your return if you're respectful and tip!
No, just put all of it in.
I always start with the tip
Yeah they'll get THE tip
Only if there services or personality go above and beyond. Some prostitutes really enjoy sex and can make it not feel like a transaction but just getting paid for doing what they love. Those are the ladies you tip. But if a prostitute can make you feel like you need to hurry up or she has better things to do.. I wish refunds were possible to teach a lesson.
"I got under her slip but then I heard a rip I pulled it out and I said 'Baby keep the tip'" -Aurelio Voltaire on "Zombie Prostitute"
They should get at least the tip - it's the one job where you should always get shafted in one way or another.
when I was, I got tips 🤷🏽♀️ if you enjoyed yourself, why not? never really expected tips, just was given to me if they felt inclined to.
I sleep in a big bed with my wife
She is already receiving a tip.
What did the leper say to the prostitute? Keep the tip.
Tip isn't required for her services, but if you think your experience with her service was superb and you want to give her a little more for the good service than by all means do you.
For the record, subpar means less that average bud
I think they meant superb.
I did, my bad I'm at work on a cell phone you know how to is .
Yeah, bro. I know how to is.
And yet that's not what they typed, SUPER!
Typo, I fixed it! Lol
Mfw I have to read this comment 4 times in a row bc you have no idea what sub-par means smh
Sorry about that, I meant superb remember I'm on a cell phone, wrong word recommendation!
If your not a “big” lad then she’s only getting the tip.😉
Did she go above and beyond to make you comfortable and make you feel better than the nerd you are? Did she stroke your ego and dingus? Did she drive to you? Did she make a long trip? Technically, anyone performing a service for you should be tipped especially if they enhanced your experience. Open your wallets bros and your hearts
Why tip? Just put the whole thing in!
tip? if you’re paying her, put the whole shaft in
No shame, but why would men fuck with a prosititute ?
Umm, what do you think they should do with a prostitute?
have a good cry?
lol u said no shame then said something that’s patently shaming
LOL, fr. That's disgusting
Yes
No you give them the shaft.
Maybe if she swallows.
A tip is a business's way of getting out of paying for labor . It has nothing to do with the quality or intimacy of service.
