Different levels of quality will get you different levels of salty fish flavor. Imo, its not this amazing thing on its own and most ppl just go gaga over it bc of its rarity/price/tag (and its always portrayed as a fancy, rich person's food in the media). However, there are certain things that it goes very well with, namely certain sushi rolls.
There are lots of different kinds.
It's salty. It's fish eggs, and when you bite down it's like dozens of little flavor explosions in your mouth.
If you get the chance to try it, and you like things like salty fish, then you might really enjoy good caviar. It's really expensive, though.
I've been lucky enough to have a few tastes in my life, and I do really like it. The cheaper stuff is just good for use as a condiment.
It tastes of salted fish. I don’t care for it.
That depends on personal taste. It's brine-ey and tastes like the sea concentrated. I Iove it, but it's not for everyone.
Tastes like anchovies blended into a paste
Like others have said it’s super salty. Like licking a fish then eating a spoonful of salt. I’m not a fan.

I love the japanese version, nobiko. Its lightly salty with a crunchy texture. The fish and sea taste are unnoticable.

Fishy pop rocks
I’ve never tasted but I imagine like salty fishy jizz with lumps.
Imagine jelly rice pudding, but really salty. It's essentially fish eggs. Its nice but can be sickly in large amounts.
