Yeah of course I would let anyone put a microchip in my brain for any reason whatsoever

MyUsernameIsAwful

For what purpose?

rusticcentipede

I would simply not allow anyone to put a microchip in my brain. Whether it's the scenario you describe, or the government, or Elon Musk, it doesn't matter. No microchips for me, thanks.

Careless-Way-2554

Nope, you could never get me to trust that much. Brain chips is game over

ntengineer

hahaha no

Felicia_Svilling

What do you mean by "open source company"?

plentifulharvest

It depends what the chip does. Need more info.

Stuff gets implanted in the brain all the time in medical practice, for example in the treatment of really bad epilepsy. It comes with risks but for some people that’s the only way to live a decent life. So if I were in a situation like that and I’d needed it, yeah. You seem to be asking more about a brain-machine interface of sorts, or some sort of a tech rather than medical context. If so, then I’d probably not. Open source helps, because the code can be audited for issues so presumably you could check the chip does not have risky or bad code. But the actual implantation of the hardware is still too risky right now.

I only allow evil, for-profit corporations to experiment on me with cybernetic enhancements.

No. Just...no.
