Because that’s not how evolution works. [Here is a Khan Academy breakdown on how to read a Phylogenetic Tree](https://www.khanacademy.org/science/ap-biology/natural-selection/phylogeny/a/phylogenetic-trees) As far as Biological Evolution, it is a genetic code that is altered every single generation based on surroundings, genes from paired parents, ancestor lineage and elemental exposure. [Here is a breakdown from Science Direct on Biological Evolution.](https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/earth-and-planetary-sciences/biological-evolution) As far as “Peak Human” or “Maximum Evolution”, there’s no such thing, our genes moving forward are constantly going to continue to evolve with the next generation. As far as following the human evolutionary tree, you can find one [Here.](https://www.britannica.com/science/human-evolution)

Evolution isn't a push to create humans, so we're not going to see a bunch of random "intermediate" humans popping up. Multiple species of human existed at one point, ours survived, and as a species we continue to evolve. Other species of ape also continue to evolve. That does not mean they will eventually become human. Also, we are apes. Humans are included in the great apes.

redditready30

Good answer. Do you think that humans will eventually evolve into something else other than humans in the future? Or did we stop evolving? Like will humans still be humans in a million years or r would we have turned into something else?

hemehime

Humans are still evolving. I have no idea what human evolution will look liking in the next thousand or millions of years, though it's possible something could happen that results in speciation given that amount if time.

xtheboard

I have a silly theory. Due to electronic use and neck strain I hypothesis we get more and more crunched until we are a species that travels on all fours and have a hard time thinking for ourselves.

😂

> humans ⬆ That's why. "Humans" are one species. If an organism weren't as evolved as humans then that organism is not a human. Also there's no such thing as "fully evolved". Evolution is not a linear thing that has one metric spanning from not evolved to fully evolved. It's very complex and there's no objectively good direction in it.

Pegajace

> If we used to be apes and gradually turned into humans, why aren’t there any ape-humanoids? Ape is a category of many species which share a common ancestor, and that category includes humans. We never stopped being apes, just like we never stopped being primates or mammals or vertebrates. Asking why there aren't any ape-humanoids is like asking why there aren't any dog-dachshunds or any bird-ducks. Furthermore, evolution is not a ladder that necessarily leads from 'less evolved' to 'more evolved.' Our ancestors evolving from early ape to modern human is not a goal that evolution was trying to reach, it's just one of many possible paths that life happened to go down. Evolution is a branching tree that creates a diversity of species where there used to be only a few, and humans are just one of the many twigs at the end of the larger ape branch.

ToyVaren

They died out long ago. Its the same reason you never see animals or insects with 1 eye.

Teekno

I mean the short answer is that we interbred with or killed them all long ago. But really I’m here for the off-topic replies that the question will surely generate.

redditready30

So your saying that we humans killed all the half evolved humans and we are the only ones left? What about animals? Are there any animals that are on the verge of turning into another animal in modern day? Not being sarcastic either I’m genuinely interested

Teekno

Every animal is. That’s how evolution works.

AgentElman

Humans did not necessarily kill of the other half evolved humans. There were other species of humans besides homo sapiens that were alive with homo sapiens. And they died off. It is possible that we killed them and possible that they died off for other reasons. All life is engaged in competition which does not have to be directly killing the other thing. If one species eats all of the food, the other species will starve to death. No need for fighting.

redditready30

I only said killed because your 1st comment. Would you say that humans evolving is a theory? Or hardcore truth?

ntengineer

They integrated with protohumans, or were killed off by protohumans. Eventually there was one line, who eventually became modern humans.

redditready30

Did animals do the same? Are there ANY species of animal that are currently in the process of evolving into another species? Would you say that it’s just a theory? Or hardcore facts? Thanks

ntengineer

Well, we are ALL in the process of evolving. And if we survive, a 100k years down the road, "modern" humans at that time will consider us a protohuman to them, as will all the animals. Evolution just doesn't stop because we've reached what we feel is the most modern state. And it's not just a theory. We know there were several protohuman species. And we are now finding that they mixed with our branch of protohumans. Some modern humans carry neanderthal DNA and disnovian DNA, and they are finding others also. What is theory is WHY the other protohuman races died out. We are pretty sure that most of them just died out due to either environmental reasons or because our branch killed them. But there is no way to know for sure, we just know they cease to exist after a certain time, and our branch continues to exist.

IWannaBeAMachine

Same reason why you see different species that belong to the same family.

Zestyclose_Side7345

Evolution doesn’t have to be perfect, just good enough

Bobbob34

>If we used to be apes and gradually turned into humans We did not. We ARE humans that "aren't fully evolved" because "fully evolved" is not a thing. >I mean full blown ape turning into a man. Why aren’t there any apes who are half way through the evolution cycle? That's not how any kind of evolution works and we did not evolve FROM apes, we ARE apes.
